Moved to Jakarta, Indonesia December of last year. From what I heard, people have said it was easy and cheap to score here. So far I've been 4 months dry with no hopes of getting any herb for a good 420 this year.

I hate moving to a new place, especially when making contacts as an outsider is hard as anything.

I thought it would've been easier to score here in indonesia what with the aceh province belting out killer haze from reports i've heard.

Sorry for the somewhat useless post, I'm just kinda down in the dumps from not being able to enjoy any herb.

I don't have a clue about Jakarta, but it's probably like just like many other places in Asia that have very strict laws for cannabis possession. It's there (it's everywhere!) you just aren't looking in the right places or talking to the right people and or are going about in the wrong way. Make friends with other Westerners, especially young guys who teach English, especially those from the UK, hang out where they go, get invited to parties etc and take it from there.....but don't rush things, don't ask about it the first time you meet them and sooner or later I'm sure you'll be able to score some hash. Back home it's probably a slap on the wrist for getting caught with a few grams in your pocket, there it means jail for a lot longer than it should, so you can understand why it's hidden.

or better still jump on a plane every month or two to Kampuchea, Laos, Koh Chang in Thailland or other ganja relaxed country nearby and get blasted for a week.,.....maybe check out Papua New Guinea?

There was some stuff going around locally about 10 years ago, (in Australia) that was supposed to come from Indonesia, was sold in tin foil rather than baggies. It was brown in colour and had seeds in it, smallish black seeds. I can't remember how it smoked other than it was ok, but I grew out some of the seeds and they grew into thin leafed plants.
Indonesia may be an untapped frontier for genetics, although these ones weren't that hot, but being brown buds and seeded they probably weren't prepared to their optimim.

According to Islamic law the use of Cannabis for recreation purposes is Haraam.Indonesia is a country with an Islamic law, but they seemed to be less strict nowadays for very small quantities, but what is small.I smoked once Indonesian weed which was comparable with some good Thai.

Keep on growing :)

In Jakarta most people are quite conservative in public but nightlife is depraved. A lot of the action happens in the Kota district, but it's a bit wild there and you might get ripped off or worse if you go alone as an expat.

If you live in a condo then you can try and talk to other foreigners living around you, or go to one of the sunday brunches the big hotels are organizing and socialize.

Whatever you do always be on the watch in Jakarta, it's a crazy place but you can have a fun ride if you're in the right mood. I do not think you can reduce Indonesia to "a country with an islamic law", it's much more complex than that and the people are very varied, there are many coexisting realities.

I would imagine there would be a lot of snitches just waiting for the chance to inform on you; what I'm talking about is the strict Islamist's just waiting for a chance to inform on the decadent westerner who is contravening Islam.
And if you do by chance get busted make sure you have money put aside for the right lawyer; what I mean is not a good lawyer but one that has connections to the judges so you can bribe your way out of it.
The judges there do take bribes from what I have heard, but it has to be done through a select group of lawyers; you cant just offer them a bribe in person.
You don't want to go too jail there; I read a book once about someone who was in jail there, and it wasn't one of the worst jails by far.
The toilet was an open concrete trench that only flushed out when it rained; if someone wanted to take a shit they would have to have someone go with them armed with a stick to beat the rats back as the person was taking a shit, because as soon as someone started to have a shit the rats would swarm around them and even try to reach into their ass to pull out more shit. So if someone went there without someone else armed with a stick to beat the rats back they would have all these hungry rats clawing at their ass while they were taking a shit.

A little update on the situation here.

I did eventually manage to get hold of a guy through some graffiti writer freinds that gave me 7grams for around USD$70. Quality wasn't great compared to the Thai/Cambodian I used to smoke living in Malaysia, but since my tolerance was practically non-existant it did the job.

All in all Jakarta's proven to be one of those places where you really have to dig deep to find the smoking culture. It's there, but like you guys said, people are pretty reserved about it until you befriend them.

Sad thing was the guy started ripping me off after a while and was giving me less and less for the price I was paying. I'll probably just stick it out and stay dry until I find a better contact.

Until then, I've decided that weekend flights to Bali might be more up my alley given how things are here in Jakarta. Better bud, the beach and shrooms. :D

Hoping to head over sometime in the next month or two when I get my leave. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

Peace for now!

hi PG-191 you just haven't found the correct source here man.. even for local indonesian. it's difficult to score if you don't get the right connection which must be established in years. because the law here is so strict with MJ. it is considered as 1st class narco here.
for a pictures. 100 gram is worth around 400 k rupiah in the first layer source.
