Kerala have filled up my tent. I only got 3 females out of the bunch, six males. Oh well, itll do. One female is the nicest plant of the bunch. Tallest and overall bushier than the others.
Group photo, 3 females, best female

There's something so unique about the leaf shape of kerala. The leaflets are so evenly tapered and angled in such a way as to appear round, like the spokes of a wheel. And the way they're held at 90 degrees from stalk... It's always intrigued me. Have you mentioned any aromas that I missed? I've heard a lot about nuttiness in kerala.
Can't wait to see them in flower!

Ya, the leaves are cool. Almost like nepal with the hang, but more compact. Stretching, but staying in control.
Not alot of smells, some sweet stem rubs, and some "landracey" stem rubs. Its a smell i see often but have no idea how to explain. There is some shine on the top sprout, like crystals starting to form, despite barely in flower.
I messed up maybe, i have a fourth female. I was judging on preflowers and i saw bumps. Those bumps are opening up to tiny leaflets. And now it definetly has pistils. So maybe a hermie, but maybe not. The coming days will tell.

Some pics of Dave C's durban poison, before i start picking seeds and mutilating them. Nice frosty nugs. Smells of anise, resin, sweet, little musty. One has the hairy deformed cola, and same with a double lower bud. Another plant has this trait on one side bud as well. The one with the great color is very lightly seeded, so my smoke report down the road will be on that one.

guess ill show you what I have in the new greenhouse. I'm not happy with it. the plants are stretching terribly, the greenhouse isn't allowing enough light, and being too heavy, I cant just reposition it. oh well, ill make due

pic 1- blueberry clones from my indoor seed run, all grown up again
pic 2- a couple double zamal x bluberry, I have one more but its deformed and about to be culled.
pic 3- nanda devi
pic 4- surprise sativa, grew from recycled soil. sprung up with one of my blueberry clones. I'm fairly sure its a double zamal, I had some "dead" seeds that got tossed back into the soil mix, and its a female!
pic 5- my three female timewarp x mighty might/Amstel, they are actually starting to flower. I have the 3 males inside in flower, my first attempt at collecting and storing pollen, along with my 3 bb male clones. I have taken clones just in case it doesn't work.
pic 6- three femmed barnys farm cdb blue shark
pic 7- my blueberry F1's to see how they do, they are stretching the worst.
I have another plant called lifesavers that is not shown.

I will pop a couple mango bitche and Manipuri seeds later to see what happens when you put sativas outside with minimal veg time up north.

Great lineup!

You need to hang a dozen + screw in LED's or some DIY LED COBs into your greenhouse.
The LED light ensures a very tight internode spacing.

Check out this thread:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=8290070

It is the blue spectrum that induces tighter spacing and that part of the spectrum is usually lacking in HPS systems without a dual arc, Needless to say this is why leaves turn colors for instance from yellow to blue so that they reflect that part of light they don't want.

Most cobs i see growers using are in the 5k color temperature range even though you can get separate chips for different temperatures like 3k for stretching/flowering and 7k for vegetation and tighter internode spacing.

Sorry ive been a lazy bum on updating lately. Ill try to this weekend. The kerala are all seeded and doing well, nice frosty buds. All my greenhouse plants are getting way to big.
Thank you for the compliment acespicoli.
To answer your question grower1234, not a whole lot of sativas finish outside where im at. I have until mid october before the season is over. The wide light cycle swings make it so sativas dont even start flowering until late september alot of times. I have grown senegal outside last year, just to see how deep they would go. I was able to get into early november, and they werent even close. There are some earlier sativas, nanda devi (nepal) comes to mind. Im playing with some different sativas in my new greenhouse to see what can and cannot finish in that setting. But overall, sativas are left inside.

Hi Xet. Unfortunately, there will not be a smoke report. these plants are 100 percent seeded. Anyways my smoke reports would be lame anyways, they would go something like this: I took 2 hits, felt I got too high, I felt uncomfortable and anxiety had to be fought. hahaha. im much more into growing than smoking these days (wasn't always the case).
now that being said, when I start "phase 2" (someday hopefully), I will be selecting from larger pools, and smoking to test for quality. at this point though im just making as much seeds as possible.

Here are the 4 kerala females. they have stayed true to their sexes, no hermie issues in the males or females. I seeded early, and I think that effects the structure of the buds, so they are like thin calyx stacked buds. good resin. smells are fairly mild. kind of an earthy, bready, ever so slightly sweet. one has a hint of menthol, just a hint.

pic one- from yesterday, leaves are starting to drop. seeds are forming fast, some pods are starting to open to expose seeds
pic 2- frm a week or two back, when they were still very green, but buds were similar

rest are recent bud shots

Hello, Beautiful plants!:tiphat:

It is really easy to solve that problem. Long ago most weed was seeded so you can proceed with the same protocol.

Allow the seeds to form in the buds until they are fully ripe. Choose to dry the buds now with the seeds, or later without seeds.Take a toothpick (a wooden one, or a steel one from Arkansas ) and a bag. Enjoy a free evening. Or a night of sleeplessness counting seeds instead sheep! Dry your weed if you didn't it before, and cure it.

Perhaps it wouldn't be the best smoke you can get from that genetics, but I think it is still pretty decent.

I think thats one of the keys to getting any sativa to get close to done up here, is how quick they can go into flower. Malawi for me flipped into flower mode pretty easy too. I dont think i could get them to finish, but think id have a better chance with them than alot of others.
I say try it, if you have seeds to spare, and are ok with either finishing inside or doing as i did, and just having plants that didnt make it for smoke. Its still neat to watch em grow outside.
