This week in my tale

This week in my tale

Lots of changes this week in the test patches.
First off males have been getting harvested and pollen put in cold storage. Both of the Turloco lines have had pollen frozen so far, T#1 was all male. I chose to collect from the 2 T#1 and the T#2 plants showing similar height and branching characteristics. The males were branchy and about 40 inches tall. Roughly the same height as the T#2 fem in the patio hole spot. It will be interesting to see if the height carries forward in the crosses.

Here is a group shot of the BOGO's followed by first males, then the gals. They are getting stinky :) Lemon skunk with an extra funk-note that I can't quite make out yet.

Here is the Turloco #2 lady in 2 views. She will get 3 branches pollinated, one by each male.

On to my favorites out of the collection, Tiki-jo. I have 2 distinct phenos starting to flower. One is spicy with a eucalyptus peppery scent. Two is sweet and has a solid strawberry-juicy fruit scent, she is going to be much larger than one. 3 and 4 are still in 2 gallon pots getting some growing/sex revealing time in before going in the dirt. Ernst told me he has grown 4 different phenos of Tiki-jo, but the eucalyptus one was not one of those. Looks like a rare gal - I hope my bubble cloner works on the 4 cuts.

The eucalyptus lady, followed by the sweet, then the babies.

My opinion so far is that the genetics are solid. Males are males, and the females have not shown herm tendencies. BOGO is a good organic cross of known effective medical strains, and smells great. The Turlocos showed a bit of variation in size, but all have a common look - the 2 males that weren't collected from were a foot taller, I just chose the more compact ones to work forward with in my adventures in the process of selective pollen chucking. Tiki-jo, what else can I say, there is a lot of potential in this cornucopia of a strain. A wonderful line for pheno hunting if I have ever heard of one.

ForTheWin 2010, aye on 19 please. :gday:

Hey Kannubis,

I bet that back Tiki-jo has the big tap root trait!

Try and remember to check that when you harvest.

A deeper root means it can handle dryer conditions better.

Early flower pics for the record

Early flower pics for the record

This post is just to get smome more pics up so I can look back to the historical data getting logged here instead of a notebook.

The first pics are the BOGO gals. They need some air freshener or a bath - in a good kind of way. Flower sites are appearing and enlarging daily.

Next the Turloco #2 shots. Only one lady, so she gets more attention. The rootball is from "Tess" that wasn't a she, damnit!

The 2 still in pots

picture.php

Last, and also least, the stunted plant that was germed at the same time as the potted ones. I think they need more veg time inside based on the size of this micro-plant. The ones in pots got ~2 weeks longer under fluoros than the one in the planter.

picture.php

It wouldn't be a true test grow if I killed that one and hid the fact of its existence. The other one put out at the same time didn't make it this far. Next time I'll know better. I am still a noob, and will be for life, so bear with me.

The clones will be coming out of the bubble cloner this weekend and into 4" square mini-pots for a short time under fluoros to see if I can figure out which will make the best mama plants. The rejected gals will get stuck outside to do their thing in the dirt again.

Enjoy your days in the sun, because it also sets.

T2 is looking like Her White Rhino Momma..

Hey is that sweet expressing the Juicy Fruit scent? I figured most of the F2's had a Sweet Male. Not 100% of them that is for sure.

And is your Eucalyptus still smelling Eucalyptus?

The BOGO are Skunky I take it? They had several scent phases there went through.. Bubble gum, Musk and Skunk They seemed to change with time.
Well I hope I got the Bubba X OG.. That is what the pack said so fingers crossed. If not then we call it BOGO any damn way! I like it.

Keep up the Pictures kannubis. I am living the Outdoor garden through you my friend!

Oh and these plants like to linger small then take off. They like to grow roots once they have some green.

Need to grow some cheese

Need to grow some cheese

That sounds like an odd title, but it tells it like I smell it now from the BOGO gals. They are starting to smell like bologna. Maybe some garlic cheese would round out the full sandwich aroma.

Here are some better closer pics of the BOGOs to whet your appetites.

A couple months and I will be putting up the precure smoke report. Time does fly when you're having fun.

bologna? You shittin me?

LOL! That's funny. They went through a few scent changes here but I don't remember bologna.

They look so young. So innocent except for a couple brown hairs there.. Stray pollen?

K

kannubis

Seriously, I thought about going to the store for a pack. It actually sounded good after smelling BOGO. Maybe that is the rotten meat smell people talk about?

There are only 4 kinds of pollen it could be from me, but who knows about other possible donors in the area. Since I let the males flower to see what they would do, its probably 1 of 3 strains in the collection - Turloco #1, #2, or BOGO. My bet is on BOGO because they were side by side.

They are going to be good when done. That is certain with their family tree.

Sunday Pics 8.22

Here are the pics to update the thread.

BOGO has taken on a deeper skunky smell, the bologna has spoiled, so its definitely gonna be a stinker. Lots of sugar showing now too.

Turloco #2 is going to be a nice little christmas tree end of September/early October this year. Shes got sugar too.

Tiki-jo Eucalyptus pheno is about six feet tall now and just going into flower I believe. Can't wait to see how she turns out.

picture.php

picture.php

Sweet pheno is almost as tall, but way wider with alot more branches. She is definitely flowering and is going to be huge.

picture.php

picture.php

The clones got put into 4 inch pots of soilmix after sitting in the bubble cloner for a week too long, the roots grew together and got almost a foot long. 5 went into the planter because I only got 15 pots to use this time. I will choose the bushiest ones in a week to keep for mothers.

The above pic is the Eucalyptus pheno.

Enjoy your week folks. Yes on prop 19 ForTheWin in 2010 :)

I'm pleased the Turloco is Sugaring up.
The White Rhino was a bit slow in frosting but the BOGO was more early.
So I would expect phenos with a mix of that trait.
Would you say the Turloco is early like the BOGO?

The BOGO mum "GirlFriend" was sticky.

K

kannubis

I don't think this Turloco is going to be a really early showing plant anymore because it appears to have dissolved from the heat. Maybe I am nuts, but I saw what I thought was sugar - more likely it was extremely rare morning dew that I saw. Kind of makes more sense than trichs retracting back into the leaves.

The BOGOs are the stinkiest plants I have grown yet. More than trainwreck even. It is not a bad smell, just a potent one that we all associate with the good stuff.

J

JackTheGrower

Well I made oil out of the MUM and then tried to go do things. I ended up in a River Park where the grass was dewy and I made a Grass Angel and enjoyed the sun for a couple hours.

So in a way I could see TrainWreck in theory ( I have not had TrainWreck )
But in breeding it is a Way up energy.

Now what the Male offered is unknown.. You are finding out. I am very happy to see the height and the frost are consistent.

My guess whoever is responsible for this line used good genetics and did stabilize.

You can tell me if it reminds you of Bubba or OG. I am not sure any more about just what I have except is it is a good line. Might be too up for some but it is a good plant.

I think Turloco will improve the last couple of weeks or so. It looks really good at a distance like it will fill out nice.

The Tiki-jo?? Looks peach colored around the buds.. Is it having a hard time in the heat?
I think it likes it a little more comfortable.. Cooler and more humidity. What do you think on the Tiki-jo genetics so far?

I will make some bud shots of the reveg girls tonight and share with you.

Here are a couple more Tiki-jo shots, first the Euc, then Sweet. The peach coloring really only shows up in pics when the sun is shining from a certain angle, they don't have much problem with the heat, so the genetics are a great base for the warm temps here.

I would definitely say BOGO favors the OG side of the mix based on comparison to the bagseed Bubba in the hedge. Your album pics of the BOGO buds have the Bubba look. I will have to pop the other 6 beans to see what other phenos I get.

First bagseed Bubba, then BOGO for comparison.

BOGO has a stronger scent by far, and more trich coverage than Bubba, so these gals must carry the OG traits. I have not grown out OG, so that observation is only based off Bubba growth patterns.

let me ask u in marijauna plants tend to have a higher leaf ratio due to being grown out doors??? i don't see tomay plant grown indoors with a high like ratio to often

I am not certain, but I think it may be because people tend to choose the strains with a lower leaf to flower ratio for indoor growing. The fewer leaves, the better the light can penetrate the canopy and shine on more of the plant. I have grown a couple strains that have just as many leaves indoors as they did outside. The leaves died quicker indoors and I pulled off the yellowing ones so they looked like they had fewer leaves.

One advantage to outdoor growing is that the leaves don't block out the light from the moving sun as easily as they do from a bulb that stays in one position. The main reason I like to grow outside though is because I am too cheap to run a 1K light and the required cooling inside in order to make it worthwhile.

Depends on how the specific plant grows and what environment it grows in.

With indoor lights we can effect the plant in controlled ways. Outside they are trying to grow to a sun we cannot control for the most part.

Some plants are long by nature such as Sativa plants and others are short like Ruderalis.

Indica plants can grow large and lush under the right circumstances.

do you ever worry about porchlights and other ambient light outside? Just wondering, i know indoor outdoor are totally different worlds, just thought i would ask because your plants are close to your house. Looks great btw
