Hey Y'all......recently returned from another 3 day stint out in the wilderness.....

Day #1.....Upon arrival..watered the last of the plants that were still in the grow bags.....Than went to work.....digging holes and putting the last 15 plants in the ground...All Done.

Next job was finishing off the irrigation....So I went to work on the centre of the patch.....Since there is 124 plants in the patch.....minus the 3 dead...from termites....That brings it to 121 and counting.....I decided to Set the system up to irrigate 3 rows...That be 30 plants....If you recall the 2 tanks for the centre of the patch are sitting on the ground....So they have the least amount of head pressure...Anyways worked out good...

Day #2......Started off with the usual ritual.......Coffee and cones...That's bowls for all you Americano's.....Than eased my way into it....First up..was setting up the irrigation for the bottom end of the patch...The two 310 litre tanks on the stands were for this section....After laying out almost 75 metres of half inch poly...I was scratching my head...wondering if I had enough head pressure to do the job,......considering the bottom end levels out a bit...But all worked well...
After that job was done I went to work on setting up the drip system for the 23 plants in there new home....Finished that just before dark....Only thing left to do was set up the tanks for that area....

Day#3.....Once again ......The usual ritual...Than I eased my way back into it...Set up the 2 tanks for the small patch....But was short of a 1 inch poly t piece....Thought I had another on site...but obviously not...And the timer I was going to use was a digital jobby...That would not function correctly.....All The other timers are the good old ones with the 2 dials...Simple but effective....That's what I like...I have the same take on women....Simple...but effective.....I'm kidding..it's a joke...don't mean to offend any female veiwers.
After that minor issue....I fertilized the plants with PowerFeed...using the same application method.....12 volt pressure pump and watering wand....I'm sure I could run this through the drip system...but want to give the plants a good dose..Might be time for an experiment......Run PowerFeed through the drip system on the small patch... and apply it with the watering wand in the larger area....The results will be interesting...

Alrighty...I have rambled on long enough....Some pics...

Some more pics....This is that small area I cleared to for the last of the plants....

Had a shower of rain come through....only lasted 5 minutes..but wet everything that wasn't covered with a tarp....That's the camp stretcher drying out in the sun....Thought the shadows looked cool.....Late one afternoon, I heard the loud beating of wings...and looked up to see this Scrub Turkey checking things out....He is about 15 to 20 metres off the ground...

This thread is super entertaining. The critters make it even better. This would be impossible to pull off in the Northeast USA. My home area experience makes it nerve wracking to even watch you document this.

So you just started autumn. My area started spring. Will you be be harvesting late July early August?

Yo...OldSchoolGreen...Cheers Man...I dig your name...

Hey Team Microbe....Sup buddy....Thanks man.

Hey Ickis..... I'm glad your finding the show entertaining....Here in Australia...We have a population of say roughly 22 million people.....Off the top of my head I think the United States....has roughly 270...280 million people.....That really ups the odds big time...And some of the penalties you guys face can be very nasty...depending on the state you live in....Mind you.....This is an indictable grow.......In other words....if I am apprehended by law enforcement.....The state can take my liberty....and lock me up till I have to go to court......Lets just hope this does not happen.....Fuck That....

If things go as they did last year.......I'm thinking the plants should finish around mid July.....That would be the middle of our winter......No snow here.......Never seen snow in my life...but I will get there...Alrighty....Cheers man.

Nice updates, looks like you are slowly grinding out those spots to be perfect gardens. I'm pretty impressed with the plant numbers you are pulling off solo, 100+ is nothing to scoff off. Now I feel like a lazy git haha. Looking forward to the next batch of pics. Stay safe mate.

Mate ..! Great Post and better Wild Life ...lol

Hey Soil Margin ..... 100 plus plants is bye no means a piece of cake......but now most of the irrigation is operating.....this should cut me some slack....Along the way....there will be a fair bit of upkeep....I imagine spraying for caterpillars will be very time consuming....Cheers .

Hey Vostok.....Cheers man.

Hi everyone.....Time for an update on patch #1....
A couple days ago....We had a drama unfold that had the potential to fuck this years growing effort in one foul swoop....That happened to be Tropical Cyclone Ita......Be the most powerful cyclone to hit the east coast this year....Was rated as a category 5 cyclone.....The strongest rating.....With winds near the centre up to 300 kilometres an hour....It made contact with land in Far north Queensland....At a destination known as Cape Flattery....Never heard of the place......Apparently it's north of Cooktown...Than progressed on down the east coast....Fortunately it had down graded to a category 1 cyclone bye the time it had reached my part of the world.... Had winds up to 100 kilometres an hour....But I will say...I don't think we copped any wind that strong...

In the early hours of Sunday morning we started to receive rain off the cyclone.....I ventured out to patch #1 just before daylight, to prop the plants up for the coming onslaught....The 2 Widow X's in the 30 gal smart pots, had trellis put over them to support the branches....Considering these are pretty lanky but also reasonably flexible....Had to pull the branches thru the trellis.
The 2 Widow X mothers in the cages, had there branches zip tied in place.....The Sat X'S in the 20 gal smart pots were all staked up.....

After a good day of torrential rain and gusty wind....The result would be interesting...So I went out last night to check things out...Here are some pics.....

These are the Widow X'S.......starting to flower up...

Some more pics......

Plant#1....... Plant #3.......

Plant#4..... Plant#6.....

These are the Sat X's.......All plants fared very well...
All of these are flowering as well.....The only plant that I have taken cuts off is Plant #1.....From what I have observed.....There were 2 pheno's. One plant seemed to have good thick branches and nice structure....The other pheno was more lanky and wild....But has beefed up a bit now that it's flowering.....The end result will be interesting...As for patch#2...Have not been able to venture out that way due to it being to wet.....But I'm thinking all should be o.k.....There is more than likely a few plants leaning over.....considering nothing there has been staked up....but all should be fine.....It would suck if they were all laying in the mud..
But I doubt this is the case....Time will tell...Alrighty..Till next time.

Best of luck to those leaners! Lookin good as always chief

Hey Team Microbe.....Thanks Man...Been chomping at the bit, to get out to patch#2....But at the moment it's the Easter long weekend here in Oz.....So I will give it a few more days to let things settle down....I just hope nothing is in need of urgent attention...Cheers.

Hi everyone....Time for an update on patch #2....
I have recently returned from another 2 days out in the wilderness....I have to say I had this feeling of anticipation.....It had been 2 weeks since I was last on site....Not knowing the damage....How things were going.....

Day 1.....Upon arrival, all the plants were standing tall and proud, like the good girls they are...{ Sigh}... That was a relief....
After carrying in a heap of bamboo stakes and my supplies to see me out the next couple days....I went to work....First up was setting up the two tanks in the small area.....If you recall I was short of a poly T piece and a decent timer.... Job Done....Next up was giving the plants a good dose of PowerFeed. As I stated earlier on.....I would use the 12 volt pressure pump and wand on the large patch and run the powerfeed thru the drip system on the small area...No problem running it thru the drippers....All good.
After that was done I started on staking up the plants.....I had done about two thirds of the large area and that was the end of the day.....Time for a few hot ones......a cup of coffee and a sip of whisky...

Day 2.....Once again....the morning ritual...coffee and cones....
Than back into it.....First up was finishing staking up the plants in the large area....Job Done. After that....I run out the hose and filled all the tanks....Once the tanks were full....I went thru and checked all the drippers.....My water source is fairly silty..... so this will be apart of the routine maintenance....Once that was out of the way.....I staked up all the plants in the small patch.......Admittedly....I don't usually stake plants until there budding, but after that last episode...better to be safe than sorry.
That was all the choirs that had to be done......So to finish off the day I pulled a few weeds that had come up with the rain we had of recent....and went for a walk....checking out the general area..
Alrighty.....some pics...

This is the view from the bottom end of the patch....You can really see the difference in growth......The first lot of plants to be transplanted are averaging five and a half to six and a half feet tall....That be the first 98 plants. The other 26 that were transplanted after.....are averaging around 4 to 5 feet tall....So basically two thirds of the patch is raging while the bottom end is pretty average...Bye the way....5 plants down to termites in total and counting....

On day #2.....After having a cup of coffee and a few cones....I got up to wander around the patch....And near stood on this snake....Man, I near jumped out of my skin....I encountered him a second time and got the camera for a happy snap....
This is a Keel Back Snake.....non venomous.....Till next time.

Damn, everything is looking on-point brother. I'm surprised this thread isn't exploding yet lol... snakes freak me out and I'm always fearful of running into/stepping on one in my area since I plant in swamps mostly. I admire your dedication to the grow man, I have yet to camp out in the bush alone. I'd imagine it's scary at first? Any tips to a first timer?

You're making me want to really put the work in this year and camp out like you do to limit visits and up stealth levels. Ever run into anything besides snakes? Like bear or coyote?

Hey Team Microbe....Cheers man....Nothing wrong with fearing snakes.....That's survival instinct....I find if you leave these wild critters be.....They are happy to do there own thing..

As for camping out......With patch #2....I would be hard pressed, to get everything done in a day.....So far...getting everything established there,.....has been an effort.....Providing all goes well...It should be well worth it.....But I will say, I enjoy getting out there.....into the wilderness.

I can't give you any solid advice in regard to camping out in the wilderness in the United States. The only bears we have down here are koala bears....And they are only in certain parts of the country......By no means a threat to humans....But if you were a gum leaf....you could be in trouble...No coyotes or wolves.....But we do have a native dog called a dingo...From personal experience...When encountering a dingo, out in the scrub on its own.....They are usually not a threat to an Adult.....A child may be another story....But when these dogs gather in a pack....I would be weary....They are known to attack Stock......sheep....calves..chooks ...etc...

Hope all goes well for you .....Peace out.

Yeah I can imagine how peaceful it is out there planting man. Inspiring to say the least...

That's cool that you don't have to worry about bear and stuff like that though, should let you sleep a little better during the nights out there lol. And I never knew they actually ate babies, I thought that phrase was just a stereotype or something. Jesus lol

Shits on point so far, keep truckin brother :dance013:
