50K! Woohoo! I'll build me a little cabin with a big basement :)

I been on the hunt for 3 years now!

I haven't seen one since spring of 08. They are still rare sightings!

At least they are not extinct! Just think I am so lucky to see one! Nobody else has seen one since the 1920s!

Well there have been a few undocumented sightings like mine!

I wish Doobie was here with his camera!

I'm sorry to burst your bubble Lola but if these birds are on your property the last thing you need to do is tell anyone. Do some research on what happens to your property rights when there is an endangered species on it much less one thought to be extinct. No building for you. You'd be lucky to be allowed to live there anymore especially if they are breeding there. Catch 22 huh? There are an untold amount of stories of people losing big time like this. Let the EPA or activists have there way with it you'll be left out in the cold. Watch out for that whole eminent domain thing to...it's pretty nasty.

Nope, got rid of the plants cause they was too close to the house!

There are like 100,000 private land owners in the Ivory Bill's habitat now. Here.

I reckon they could try and buy us all out, but I doubt it will happen.

I ain't giving up the family farm!

Anyways, fixing to go out huntin this evening and see if I can shoot one! :)

I tend to disagree about them "taking your land"; there is such a thing as a "Land Trust" that usually ties into nature preserves also, usually to the benefit of the landowner and there generational families to keep building and developing and using, but also stopping further "larger" scale developements or to set aside land outright.

I am not expert by any means.

LolaGal - You could claim someone else in your area found it and beat you to it, but you took pictures too, keeping your online identity unlinked. Get a representative, stay anonymous, then sell the rights to come film on ebay. blang BLING!

there's a cool thread in the outdoors section on motion activated hunting cameras. set some up around where you think they might be.

Hunted for a couple hours this evening, saw a few birds, but no dice! Found some good trees with likely holes in them. Had a big woodpecker watching me and didn't see it till it flew off, so I'll look for him tomorrow at the same time.

NO chiggers! DEET is the best stuff ever.
