I just started learning about growing last summer. It is an always evolving process for me. I want to thank you all for your wonderful inspiration and insight. I have learned a ton from many of you. I am still keeping things very small in my micro. I am only growing bagseed as I learn. Partly due to the difficulty to order seeds to my location, and honestly I like the randomness of it.
I use CFL's. Right now, I have 3 26w cool light cfls. I have a powerstrip mounted to the ceiling of my closet with 3 outlet to socket adapters. I vegged for 3 weeks (newbie mistake) and switched the lights to 12/12. I wish I'd waited for preflowers. I only have one plant, that could very well end up being a male. The tops are bunching up now and I will be finding that info out any day. Once the sex is determined, and assuming she's a she, I will switch to 5 26w warm CFL's and add more as necessary. Its not anything advanced at all but for some of you this may give you the idea you need to add light in your grow, heres a picture right now
.
Hypothetically you could add as many as you'd like. Just get a new power strip and some 97 cent outlet to sock adapters any time you need more light. I have noticed with these cool spectrum CFL's that they actually do produce quite a bit of heat. My 1 fan runs 24 hours and is only keeping my grow space between 79 and 81 degrees, so I need another fan.
My grow space is a little confined, plenty wide just not tall. My soil is just some premium potting soil with lots of goodies. Its performed very well for me. I have not seen a hair yet on this baby. I am expecting to see a ball covered plant any day now honestly, but we'll see. I wouldn't be that upset because I am getting excited for warmer weather. Its so much easier for me to veg the babies outside then bring them in for flower. That's how I learned at least, last year in my first grow I had one beautiful little lady, and I MEAN little lol. I made all the newbie mistakes.
I only had one 36w CFL for all of flower. I harvested way to early out of excitement and got only a couple grams of 3/4 of the way finished bud off her. To top it all off, by the time the buds were actually cured I had about half a bowl left . So I am ready for the suns good light to roll back through so I can do better this year. The plant I have now is more learning for me and I have learned a lot in a years time. Thanks for checking in on me. I will post an update soon. Probably an "its a boy!" announcement but fingers crossed.
