the perspective often determines the conclusion.

for personal smoke i'm with most of the previous posters. quality of high first. potency, taste, bag appeal are nice. quality of the high effects paramount.

now, for selling weed i got to go to bag appeal, potency, taste. the market is overweight on bag appeal in a big way where i'm at. pretty weed sells a lot easier, for a lot more money. you get a good street rep for carrying sexy bag appeal product. good street rep is woth a lot.

for outdoor strains from a growers perspective yield and hardness and flowering times become very important. the customer does not care about yield, hardiness, flowering windows.

if you want quality high effects i vouch for landrace based gentics from personal experience. the potency is very good in my keeper landraces and i don't suffer tolerance build up isues on my landraces either.

Its all about the quality of the high for me if it tastes and smells good thats a bonus but i could not care less how it looks ,i see people looking for purple strains why the fuck would you care what colour your buds are

actually, i tried selling kick ass weed high effects/potency and got brutally punished. next year i will be taking pretty girls to market.

I still say why does anyone have to settle for any one of the three (high, Taste/smell, looks) when you can have all three? I guess I get it if you're just a buyer but us growers should never have to settle, there's just too many strains and then within the strains too many phenotypes.

There is also the issue of personal tastes and opinions. What some consider to be a great high others may feel is not what they're looking for. I saw GSC mentioned in this discussion which for a while everyone was raving about. Now based on what I see mentioned here the market has gotten overloaded with it and people are getting burned out on it. As for the looks I saw someone mentioning bald buds. Some like their buds with the trichome laden leaves left on others like the leaves completely removed or as close to that as possible because of an unpleasant flavor the leaves can add. Which just goes to show what one person considers to be sub par another person considers to be great and that's not even getting into people who only smoke sativas vs people who prefer indicas.

I don't think I've ever smoked a landrace per say. Maybe that's what I should grow next time. I'm throwing some CBD Crew "yummy" indoor soon. This is only my second year outdoor grow but everything so far while it's growing gets pretty fat, sticky , trichy and smells superb. Even my indoor got pretty nice for getting a late start in life (growing wise ). Shit I been smoking since 1992 .

I gotta say tho when I dry it tho , I lose smell and all flavor but the high is stronger hitting than some stuff at collectives sometimes. (That try and tax 70$ an 1/8) So far my avatars pic was my best and most flavorful though. Best high I have felt in a long time. Clear, focused and energetic as all he'll. Maybe the days I cropped was just right. Tis was a Next gen seeds Texada Timewarp .

Its true people are always affected differently, everyone loves to drink but the moment I do my body is like fuck you get this poison out, whereas since day 1 i could smoke joints all day no problem and enjoy the effects with no problems.

Some people flip out with anxiety from thc, others cant get enough of it into themselves. Judging the quality of a high will always be subjective. GSC keeps me loaded as hell and still functionable, the high is amazing.

Ah so you've grown and tested every strain out there as well as the various phenotypes within the strains? If you haven't then how would you know?

I agree that it's a reality for people who don't grow but just buy. I'd also agree that perhaps for commercial growers they might find themselves using every bit of grow space for what the market says is best. For growers just growing for themselves however there is no reason to settle for less then you want. Like in my case I've kept cheese around for some time now because for me it has a great high, a great taste and smell and when given what it wants while growing produces very nice looking trichome laden buds.

Of course that's just me. I'm not trying to say Cheese is the best there is for everyone. Each person's tastes are going to be different. One man's prized bud might be another man's schwag.

What that I've smoked Landrace strain ? I don't know actually. I've never heard of landrace till last year . Before prop215 it was either OG or purple in my circle . More orange hairs and we thought it was the holy grail(edit: this was like 1993 when we were all about the OG the more orange hairs the better) Now there a all kind of names like "Spanish trampoline" "sniklefritz" or whatever

I dunno, I'll admit I come across some crappy pheno's from time to time but usually the plants with poor visual appeal are usually poor in other areas too.

Now I've had some wispy budded haze that will pound yer ass into the pavement but even tho they were wispy buds they still had nice resin coverage. IMO Poor resin usually equals a poor smoke.

This one time I was growing clones I had been running for a while, great plants when grown right, well I had a major grow malfunction and those clones produced total garbage. So poor growing can ruin great plants, but if everything else in the room is growing primo but one plant looks like crap I assume it is just a crap plant.

I think a excellent plant should be excellent all around, if its lacking in one area I toss it and move on. Too many strains never enough space.

On the flip side, even if a plant looked great but tasted like sawdust I would throw it out just the same. I like something that looks good, tastes good, smells good and has sufficient potency/good quality high.

I think weed is so good now that it's not just one thing anymore I guess. One day my wife was smoking a Marlboro light and I told her to smoke my joint of my outdoor instead. I said "taste like a clean cigarette and better for you". My shit had no tatse. Maybe a bad example but I can see people smoking a doobie of "hay weed " instead of cigarettes. It ain't the high , smell , etc.. ITS THE WEED

kali mist from serious seeds, sensi star, and amnesia haze was a very clear and undistorted high for me.


super lemon haze, sour diesel, and GSC gave a fuzzy high, I felt F*ckd up and couldn't think.. after awhile that shit gets old..

but I think with a little breeding and backcrossing I could refine GSC's high.

Like this ... Untrimmed funk. Looks good in person. Taste like fuckin tobacco, smells like chlorophyll, but hits hard . Hard to digest though. It actually fell off prematurely
