LOL yeah, well only you know your wife. I built a new veg box yesterday while the wife was out of town, that way if she has any issues with it it is too late. She is pretty cool with the whole idea though, once I explained to her how much less money this will save us in the long run. Keep your chin up dude. Weed is supposed to make you happy! or at least paranoid

Hahaha, I did the same thing. Ordered my 400w when she wasn't looking. Came in UPS and I was all, "I told you about this, you said go ahead - just don't burn the house down." Muhahahaha.
But it's true about...can't tell anyone so we have to come here.
My wife doesn't smoke and really doesn't feel totally comfortable with me growing. But she's supportive about it, even comes down and looks at the plants with me. She says, "you don't have to drool everytime you look in your flowering box."

anyways. i appreciate the welcoming to the 400w club. but slow down there im not in the club yet. as u can see im trigger happy on the digi cam. when i have the 400w u guys will see it. i just need some basic common sense tips. like. how dangerous is it?

I have a 400w mh bulb, it does get pretty bright. I try not to look directly at it. Sucks for taking pics with my cheap ass digi cam. Really washes out the pics.
I picked up the whole kit from a good buddy that was living somewhere he could not grow for 60 bucks. Ballast,2 Bulbs, Hood, Nutes, exhaust fan, and ventilation tubing. A great deal! Otherwise I would be trying to figure out how to do it on the sly. But I notice a huge difference compared to the cfls I was using previously.
I am getting so excited about indoor growing I was thinking about expanding my operation to include possibly some peppers and other small vegetables. I think they would taste better if I made them myself.

Okay guys check it out. on friday(my day off) im going to head on down 2 cities over on the bus.and pick up a 400hps and accessories from the nearest hydro shop. my question is how big are most 400watter boxes? and is it a bust taking that shit on the bus. i was thinking about saying its for my moms birthday, and deny knowing anything about growing anything, incase some1 asks me. ok guys i really need to know this u know young stoners like me man we get paranoid. i need a peace of mind.

forgot to say it will be a 1 hr busride down from the hydro store carrying my brand new light. and i have to transfer at the bus station. this shit is so fuckin sketchy. i need a car.

The box you will have will be rather large and bulky. Not to mention heavy as shit. Your ballast alone will be heavy, not including the hood and other accesories.
I would have it shipped if I were you. May cost more, but a whole lot less of a problem.

this was my plan. time everything right. take the bus over there get off at station. call cab to hydro store tell em to wait right there. pick up my shit leave go back to station then go to station in my area call cab get home shut door. i mean. a grow light isnt illegal correct? and what the fucks a bus driver or taxi driver gonna givea fuck about what i have?

Nope no narc what so ever; its a legit buisness. Their ballasts arent crap either; they dont emit RF and are recognised by the FCC. They have an ebay store too: http://stores.ebay.com/HID-HUT 188+ reviews.

hey guys this is a nub question can u put a carbon filter on the digital ballast? like if not then were does it go? damn all this bullshit better pay off at harvest time. or ill be pissed.
i am a little concerned over your security situation as far as getting the goods home via bus and taxis . that's a fair bit of exposure to a lot of eyes . at the very least the hydro shop owner had better package these as inconspicuously as possible for you . to my way of thinking a shipment directly to your house on your day off (fed-ex and such are pretty good at this) may be better. yes, this does require your signature and leaves a trail straight to your door but, to the people who are handling it, it's just one more package . anyone got any other ideas . a car would certainly be best. can you rent one ?
