Issues with 1000W lights turning off after some minutes

At first I got a philips bulb and a lumatek 1000W ballast that worked for a few minutes and then shut off.
After re-connecting the power supply it lighted up again.

I bought a new bulb, can't remember the brand, and it didn't help.

I changed the ballast to a GBI and returned the lumatek and the extra bulb and the problem persists.

I got a 600W lumatek and philips set that I put once I get tired of the 1000W try outs and it works perfectly fine.

Anyone encountered such problem?

sounds like a bad or going bad circuit... u may have tried this already but.... I would plug it into a different plug so its not on the same circuit, as well I would make sure to power it at the store. if its works in either place, then you may have a bad circuit or bad wire from the circuit to the plug and need to get that out of there.

I hate lumatek, picked one up cuz it looked so cool, got it home plugged it up and,,,, the internet went out!!!!!!!!! Talk about a scare lol...

Guy atthe shop told me the remote must be bad and the ballast is good but im like the remote is got all the cool stuff!

I think they have a new gen of them now tho. but anyway be careful! Dont want your cable company out wondering why there is an outage lol...

lumatek are very picky with VOLTAGE..If you setup has varied voltage and other things on the same circuit they go into safety mode and shut off..
Ie why your 1k watt doesnt work and your 600 does!!

Interesting. What are you using to switch the ballast on? Curiousity more than anything.

Try a different reflector. Sometimes the mogul socket comes loose. Check the wires that connect to the ceramic socket and tighten the screws if loose.

Tried a different reflector, different outlet (connected straight to the main power panel), different ballasts, different bulbs and the problem persists.
I returned the ballast as I don't think I can solve the issue. It might be a defence mechanism built in my house.

If you are having the same problem with different ballasts and bulbs then it has to be either the supply power or the mogul socket. I would start with checking the socket in the hood. If that is solid then you need to make sure the electric system you are using is safe. It could be overloaded or other issues. If you don't do good wiring and design circuits then you might need to ask for some help identifying the problem.

As stated above, I changed a ballast and I used the outlet.
I consider myself to have good wiring skills, I did way more complex projects than to wire a grow tent...

I can't change my main panel so I can't go deeper.

baffling lol... are these 110 or 220?
you said you tried the new ballast on a different outlet on a different circuit with the same result right? can you try it at a neighbors house ? also, did you call the shop you bought them from to see if either of them works at their shop? as well, the latest one you bought' did you have them fire it up there? and lastly, have you ever run 1k's in the past.

Ive built a lot of houses and done a lot of ti and Ive never came across a load "kill" switch on any of the panels we put in. I dont think its a bad wire (RJ) seeing as you tested it on a different outlet on a different circuit, but it is possible that the current circuits will all be the same brand/product, and may not be able to handle the load. you may need to put in newer switch different brand better quality or install a 220.

side note 600 are cheaper on the wallet lol

Have you tested the voltage of the line with a meter?

Did you check the ballast voltage settings (I am sure you did just covering everything)?

digis dont have ballast voltage settings as far as ikow
some mags are variable voltage ime

no they dont but if your nuetral wire is not connected or shorted out the ballast goes into safety mode.. Sounds like thats whats happening here...the ballast goes on and then turns off...

I'm running 220, as I'm in Europe.
Changed outlets - didn't help.
I can't use my neighbours house...
I checked yesterday and it does work well in the store. I returned what I could and got tired of this 1000W.
I can't touch the main electricity board as I'm renting and the electricity is covered by some maintenance service.
I have never ran 1000W, only lower wattage.
The 1000W was for bigger flowers mainly for pictures.

I don't have a meter yet, I should get one. I'm pretty positive that it is 220 as I'm in Germany. Also the other 220V lights work well.
I actually got a ballast rated for 400V by Lumatek, returned it and got a GIB for 220V that didn't work either and resulted in the same problem. My bulb is rated 220V.

They don't have a setting but there are 220V and 400V options.

Might be, if so I'll consider them faulty.

I tried using a 3x2.5mm for about 4 meter straight from the main box, didn't help.
