Israel leads in medical marijuana, experts say

Prescribed cannabis use per capita is highest in the world



The percentage of Israelis using medical marijuana under the auspices of the Health Ministry is the highest per capita in the world, it was revealed during a session of the Knesset Drug Abuse Committee on Tuesday.
Maariv reported that 9,000 Israelis are currently registered for a program that provides marijuana to patients with serious illnesses such as cancer, glaucoma and multiple sclerosis. That’s a 57 percent increase from 2011, and Health Ministry officials estimate that by the end of the year around 11,000 Israelis will be legal cannabis users.
In comparison, England’s medical marijuana program has 850 patients and Canada’s, 1,350. Sixteen US states have approved medical marijuana programs, resulting in tens of thousands of patients, but guidelines for writing prescriptions and for deciding which doctors can write them are, in general, much more relaxed in the US than in Israel.
Israel’s program has been called one of the most effective and progressive in the world. Despite that, the Knesset Drug Abuse Committee found that regulation and oversight of the medical cannabis program is lax; in 2009 it was decided that a government authority would be created to oversee the program, but that decision has yet to be implemented. Currently it is run out of a small Health Ministry office in Bat Yam.
According to a Ynet report, a police representative present at the committee meeting said that fields and warehouses where medical marijuana is grown and stored do not have adequate security and are sometimes located close to schools and shopping malls. The police also contended that a large amount of the product grown for medical use ultimately makes its way into the black market.
Prof. Yehuda Baruch, the psychiatrist who coordinates the program and approves prescription requests, said that without proper government oversight, there is a danger that non-therapeutic marijuana use in Israel will gain de facto legitimization.

without calling names, i know of one company which does the job very well done.. the rest are nothing to write about ..

plus, the amount patinas are allowed to buy per month is ridicules. most of them can't even grow their own plants.. (maybe even everyone, can't remember)

getting a permit? its like banging your head into a wall for 2 years.

this article is probably based on population/permit ratio. compare Israel to a state of Texas for example and you know what i mean, Israel still have a long way to go... but at least we're advancing somewhere..

sativa-that is not the case in israel,severe patients,patients with cancer or one of the main illness's know get pretty quikly the permit
my room mate was in a car accident and he broke 3 ligaments and some ribs and he had internal bleeding
after all his surgeries he applied in the normal way and got the permit pretty quik compared to other stories i've heard.. meaning if your problem is known and severe enough you will get it fast
about the quality i won't argue,some of them know what their doing and some not.
this month the guy got diffrent weed,looks very dry,more like some landrace.. i thought it was hindu kush but i wasn't sure,anyways he got something diffrent and the main problem is that they can't garantee stability
all strains can help patients... i still think calling some marijuana medical and the other not is ridiculious,all weed does some kind of therepy healing process.. you just have to notice what it does

canna - the "problem" that the police say that some of the drugs go to the black market is a gimic,how hard is it to grow in a growhouse and call it medical?
just because people sell weed calling it medical doesn't mean it really came from a medical source
i myself know of medical that leaves but nobody can prevent advil from going between neighbours so why would weed be any diffrent?

the notice should be on selling weed to teenagers that's it... all the rest is just police bullshit that they don't do anyways

its definitely not a landrace.. probably some bad cured bud.

it's ridicules, i see on Facebook one dispensary that posts pictures of their plants, the pictures shows massive N & S deficiency.. and they are so proud.. they even have no idea their plants are suffering... when i contacted the growers and ask about that, their reply was that the pics are photoshop'ed..... what ???

the government want to categorized Cannabis as "Medical", and everyone think this is going in the right direction... well maybe for now yes, but at the long run with this route, Cannabis will be Medical only and not truly free as it should.

both of the strains he got we're cured right,but in some strains it is recommended to leave some leaf matter so it will protect the precious canabanoids behind it.. sometimes

the weed smells like ummm reguler herb.. just a herb,it's pleasent but doesn't stink at all like weed
second,the weed isn't sticky at all and very dry,burns well
three,the weeds dry stem is totaly white,i don't think i've ever seen a totaly white stem on a flower,usually they are geen with white on them,but not dry white,totaly white stem and very mild strain,the taste is very subtle and sweet
i'll take a picture of one bud to show,very unusual from my experience

i posted a threat asking if anybody knows good suppliers for pain releafe,depression and post trauma...for now most people here don't have experience on first hand,maybe a friend or so..

At least u have it for medical purposes It is absolutely illegal here in Bulgaria even if u have cancerBut we are starting to grow a lotI made this cannabis yoghurt i think it has very big medical potential because here the yoghurt is special(it has very good bacterias in it) by itself and when it is made with cannabis milk(but i buy homemade milk only)...mmmm...unfortunatelly no one here will research it to tell what can be use fori hope someone in Israel will try it

unfortunately, no one could ever tell you what to use it for - in medical terms. thats because the process and Cannabis you used is unknown to us, it also depending on many many factors such as the cannabis growing process, Treatment, Strain used, potency, your extraction method etc.. any of these factors will affect the end result.

your best bet is to try it yourself and report us back its looks very good anyway around. well done!!!

I posted this in the cannabis legislation forum after someone else re-posted the article:

this once again shows the complete lack of morals and intelligence on the part of the "journalists" that wrote the article.

plus, the police want cannabis to be imported so their buddies at the ports get a piece of the action and monopolize it all. plus, this will increase the prices by a whole lot. in end, the people in need of medical cannabis will pay the price if this nonsense gets any attention.

there's no medical cannabis in the hands of anyone either, it is pretty fucking hard to score anything in Israel anyway.

and trying to get a recommendation from a doctor is nearly impossible, been there, done that... still have a few other doors to knock on before I give up though.

and since when are the police knowledgeable on what are proper growing conditions and what are not? are they botanists all of a sudden? who gives a fuck what they think.

also more bullshit, this issue about legitimizing cannabis use, well, duh! of course that's the ultimate goal; or does the police want to keep it locked in the black market so that hammas can have an income with which they can buy missiles to launch at us? fucking retards.

the problem with using illegal weed for medicinal purpose is that if you have a weakened immune system, life forms growing in the weed (especially if badly grown/stored, but even in the finest weed, without strict quality control) can be life threatening, especially when digested.

גם בישראל צריך לקוות שמשרד הבריאות מפקח על הגידול באופן מאוד הדוק עם תקנים רלוונטיים. זה פיקוח נפש של ממש עבור חולים עם מערכת חיסונית חלשה, ומסוכן עבורם לעשן גראס שלא גדל בפיקוח מחמיר.
