ISO HASH makers, question...

I was wondering what the texture of ISO hash is supposed to be like? I've made ISO in the past that when dried, became hard brittle, sorta like hard candy. It was easy to handle and pack in the bowl. These last few runs however It's been coming out very soft and extremely sticky. I'm not complaining at all, cause the stuff came out great. But it is a huge pain in the ass to try and harvest it, and also to pack bowls.

Here's my method for ISO hash...

Place 20g's shake/popcorns/buds into mason jar.
Dump entire bottle of 91% iso into jar.
Shake for 1 min.
Place coffee filter over jar, screw ring onto jar to secure filter.
Pour contents onto plate.
Place plate on top of another bowl containing water.
Place both of these on top of small electric burner.
30-40 minutes later, scrape contents off plate, and place in single glob.
Place single glob of hash back onto hot plate, and stir with needle.
Scrape remaining hash, and place on a credit card or some such.
Final yield is 2g's ISO.

This method produces a somewhat manageble hash, that smokes extremely nice. So I'm wondering, does everyone else's ISO come out with a similar texture? Upon lighting it on the first hit, it bubbles up and expands big time, it will do this for the first 2-3 hits, then settles down to a more compact hash, which you can continue to hit for 3 or so more times, which then turns into a white ash.

Also, 2 rips from the roor, and I'm toasted for several hours, it's quite amazing how long it's effects linger. 3 rips, and I MUST eat something to bring my high down, else I'll be walking down the street in my PJ's with only 1 sock on, foaming at the mouth! lol

What do I need to do, to get it rock hard? I'm not too sure what I did differently the first time around heh. Do I need to keep reheating it to get there? Or should I do it the same way and maybe rapidly cool it down by putting it in the fridge?

You only get 1 chance to get it rock hard...

When your filtering it.... Make sure your Iso/shake mix Gose threw the coffey fillter like water. (This can take up to a hour to do) Filtering is the one thing ppl take for grandit. And you have to cook it down so when you put your lighter up to the oil it dosnt Flame all the way across the oil...

took me LONG LONG time to lurn how and it wasnt off the internet. I ran into A OIL GURU :d who showed me the way.

ok... first of all don't ask how or why.... but i accidently tasted a bit of isopropyl alcohol and while i've always used iso for extraction... after tasting it i'm curious as to what kinds of residues may be left behind...

iso alcohol tastes VERY SWEET and kinda minty... like schnaaps... and anyone that's done much extracting with iso knows that that odd taste and smell never leaves the resulting oil...

i've never got sick or anything from smoking iso oil... but if it did contain something like latent sugars they would be left behind in the resulting oil and make the smoke that much harsher...

i have a feeling that somthing like everclear... pure grain alcohol would be safer.... or maybe even ether because it evaporates so cleanly and at room temp... be careful with that ether though... don't wanna end up like Richard Prior...

any comments?

I find The faster you wash the less green it will be.And the more filtering will help brownin and hardin it

In my past the longer i play with the iso it tense to harden a little another sugess is to let it sit out for a day or too before keeping it in an airtight container but what do i know(haha)

sorrey I forgot about you preps out there who need it all perfect.

If your iso mix. Strains threw the coffey filter like water,(rilly fast)
then you got most of the nastys out,(clorifil)

Make sure you cook it down till it gose brownish. Then get your lighter and see if a flame gose across the top of the oil.If it dose then you havent cooked all the iso out..

Ok, I see that explains it better. I'm gonna try an ISO run tommorow, but this time I will use a mesh filter, so the green doesnt sit so long like before. I'll update it then to see the difference. And I'll freeze everything this time too.

Dont use the mesh screens. Filtering will take time...

Time = good oil. If you use a mesh filter it wont get the dirty looking MUK the white coffey filter can get out. and That is the important thing Getting the clorafil OUT.

People dont understand... Its not just Dump the iso in the weed filter it 1 time.

Its a MUST! you have to filtter it till the iso looks CLEAN. when i meen clean i meen when you do your first filter you probly wont be albe to see the bottem of the dish.

After afew filter the mix becomes more clear(less clorafil and Leaf matter) you should be able to see threw the iso it shouldent be Dirty!

The mesh coffey filter is bigger micron than the paper ones so it can only catch so mutch junk the smaller shit will get threw.

But forsure I use a metal one for the first Filter its easyer it catches all the big shit so it wont clog the paper filters as fast.

I use a hair dryer to blow off the last H2O 9%
then before I scrape the dish I dust the oil with a fine "kif" /bud dust. then I mix that in so it now can be roled into a ball.
Some purest say this destroys the intergrity of the oil,
but at least I can handle it without looseing 1/2 on the whatever....

agree with the kief rolling.

It does make the iso more managable, but degrades the purity.
it's a toss up.. personally, I would roll with kief.. i dont like iso sticking to the nsides of my containers, and loosing it on the bottom of various containers/objects for storage.
