Is the Volcano worth it?

The only thing i hate about the volcano is the noise of the bags when you are watching a movie with friends

i thought about this too and came to the conclusion that the oven bags have to be this "loud" because generally the softerners in plastics are the main health hazard because they slowly evaporate/escape. so my conclusion is: the less "soft" a plastic, the less poisonous it is. therefore i have made peace with the noisy cano bags.

volcano is awesome, i pretty much cut down my weed use by 50% or more.
the only thing i dont like about it is it doesnt have watercooling, so you have to get a bong and vape through that else the vapor is too dry for me. this is a reason why i would propably check out the verdamper if i were to buy a vaporizer again. but volcano + bong = awesome.

I love my volcano. Had it for around 5 yrs now and has always been solid. Owned a few other vapes and it's hands down the best, easiest to use, and least maintenance. That being said the silver surfer can be good when used right and is a cheaper option that can still consistently deliver a good vape sesh when your used to it.

if you want bags and ease volcano is the way to go

If you want a cheap whip vape that does its job then the extreme q is for you

the extreme q sucks at making bags even though it has the option, the spare parts are chepa an not as nice to use as with the volcano

But in whip mode the extreme Q works really well

The only thing i hate about the volcano is the noise of the bags when you are watching a movie with friends

i wanna buy a Q only for that , to enjoy vaping in silence

the best vaporizer hands down for me is "de verdamper" but i wont buy it cuz it is made of glass and more like a bong so you cant sit bak and chill while holding that

that said this one give me the nicest taste

Wouldn't you be able to attach a long hose with mouth piece to de verdamper like a nargile would have? It doesn't give the complete mobility of a volcano bag, but it will give you the ability to sit back and relax :)

I have had my EQ for almost 3 years. It still performs like the day I bought it.. Im sure if you look hard enough you will find bad reports on any product.. IMO the Volcano is a great machine but is way over priced. There are a few different system that operate like the Volcano but have more options for a lesser cost. The Volcano should be priced in the 300$ or less range

So after losing a few bids on eBay, realizing my time wasn't worth the amount of effort I was putting to find a deal, and generally feeling gross from so much smoking, I pulled the trigger on the Volcano + starter kit for $500.

Just did three bags. Conclusion: totally worth it :D

I really like my volcano. It was pricey, but consistently delivers. Wish the bags weren't so loud tho...

I'm curious about the new hand-held one that is coming out for ~$300:

I like the plenty. Definitely going to be getting one when they come out. It's not rechargeable, but since it doesn't have an air pump it can be used with an inverter in the car(when parked of course!) I like that it can simply be laid down. A great tool to have while working. No bag. It's pretty cool that it's analog as well.

Buying a volcano is like buying a BMW. You're buying the brand, and what it means. In this case it's reliability, great quality, and service if something happens. There have been lots of other companies, but none have trumped Storz & Bickel. There's a reason they've set the bar. I still have my first one, which has a metal base(as opposed to the new plastic base).

They're not cheap, but to me that's the point. In this case it's true that you get what you pay for. If you take care of it, there's no reason it shouldn't last you at least 5-6 years with no issues. One day you might want to replace the air pump etc....One of the things to remember is that there are rubber/silicon(not sure) based parts which can get stiff if not used for a long time. So it's a good idea to run your volcano from time to time if you don't use it regularly.

I bought my volcano when they first came out with the dial display, no digital. Still works great, however I find myself using oil most days now with my skillet.

Volcano is almost as nice as the Zephyr. Problem is the company making the Zephyr was on hold for a bit due to legal issues but I think they are back in business again now it's just been impossible to find the zephyr at least last time I was looking. Best vape I ever used and so efficient one little tiny piece of bud made huge milky bags of delicious vapor that was like misty white and pure goodness. Really awesome vape and the valve on the bag works perfect. This post reminds me to try to find one! My best buddy still has his and holds onto it like gold I think they are much less than a volcano too but all that does not matter when it comes to your health really what is the cost for new lungs if you don't vape? For 2012 my resolution is vape, vape, and more vaping. :canabis:

I've had a Plenty for a few weeks, I really like it, it is basically a whip style vape made by Storz & Bickel with their quality and attention to detail. The chamber took a little time to get used to filling but after a bit of practice it comes easy. It is alot less bulky than most vapes and can easly be packed up and put into a small travel case for those who like to take their vape on their holidays or over to a friends.

To answer the original question the Volcano is definatley worth it (I've had mine for over 10 years and it's still going strong), after using it for a few months I found that I saved more on money bud than the unit cost me due to me using less weed when I vape than when I smoke.

I tried several vapos including volcano, both small and big de verdamper, iolite, vapir and at the end I bought an extreme Q.

It's one of the best for that price I think. It can work with both balloons and whip.
Ballons are not too noisy like volcano or other, the vapo reaches 200° very fast and it's very simple to use.

Ballons do not have a valve like the volcano one, but it's not a real problem.

Temperature reach 260°C so it can be used to vaporize other stuff that require an higher temp like salvia or to vaporize potpourri (in a separate bowl, included in the vapo box.

The remote control seemed a stupid thing initially, but at now I find it pretty comfy.

The heater is a ceramic one, and bowls are made of glass. The bowl also have an heat protection, so it can be removed from the vapo also if it's still hot.

At now I can't find any relevant defect, I just like it :blowbubbles:

I heard good things about the herbalair too but I did not try it yet.

I have had my volcano for just a few weeks, and i love it. i can only chime in with all the others that love them. they are just amazing. and the noisy bag isnt an issue for me, since the gf has band vaping to the grow room. due to her super sence of smell. maybe anyone whit a normal sence for smell can tell me how long the smell of a bag stays in a room, or how long aft era supersmeller can smell it in a normal siced room. i can litteraly only smell it when the shit has just hit the fan.
and the new plenty looks like its worth it as well. and i deffinetly whant one.

I'm extremely happy with my silver surfer (SSV). Would buy it again. Can't imagine dealing with the hassle of a bag - the control afforded by the classic, non-handsfree SSV design is awesome. I've already turned 2 of my friends on to the SSV and none of us are still looking for alternatives.

I'm not very good at rolling joints, by the way, and I can get about 10 times as high from a given amount of stuff if I use it in the SSV instead of making joints out of it.

I'm probably not going to be liked for this but here goes.

I acquired a ''Fuji'' vaporizer, which is a knockoff of the Volcano. I never figured out how to use it until just the other night. I was baking it at around 360 degrees, thinking I was getting a vapor but was not.

I've moved a few times and this thing got thrown around a lot. I basically forgot about it 1.5-2 years ago. I found it going through old boxes and decided to try it again. I plugged it in and...nothing! I tried every temp. I could, up to 400 and the thing wouldn't work. I took it apart and found a wire loose. Turns out, it ran to the element and had the stupidest electrical connection I've ever seen. Basically, two small prongs push into a a circuit board and only have about a 1/16'' of bite. Another stupid design was how the element was held in place. A long bolt/screw and nut held the element in place. Thing is, it's easy for it to loosen and rotate, which pulls the connection loose.

I reenforced the whole thing, let it heat for about 15 minutes and it was like another machine altogether! This thing has an indicator light to show it's ready for use...It's utterly useless. It comes on in about 5 minutes. If you ignore that and let it sit 15-20 minutes, along with redesigning the interior...You end up with a pretty decent machine.

Most any reviews you read on these, blast it. It's called cheap and pointless. I think a lot of that is from improper use. For the last two years, I agreed with those reviews. Now, I'm confident I'll get some use out of this thing. Out of the box, it's pretty much useless. Tricked out, it seems alright. I still won't ever leave it plugged in unattended as it is a cheaply built, bare bones potential deathtrap but supervised, it's probably ok.

nice comment. Thats hilarious... yeah dude, some stuff is only for handi-capable people, but you're flying with it so rock on.

Ummm... my opinion is that every vaporizer I've ever used sucks. Starting with the one I tried ten years ago... it was an early whip model and you had to load the herbs into a skinny glass tube that the hose attached too. Needless to say I spent a bunch of time crouched around this thing with people going,

"no, suck harder",
"wait, wait, it must not be hot",
"Im sure its going, you'll get one now"
"I don't see anything, Im not sure its working"
"Trust me dude I was really high on this thing yesterday"

I hated vaporizers. Then I tried the volcano about 4 years ago. The volcano is the only vaporizer which doesn't leave me Jonesing for the feeling of having smoked. Its not that you get smoke, its just the only one where you can feel the high as you inhale like when you smoke. I can't stand the guessing game of other types of vaporizers. If I leave my house and get high feeling 1/2 hour later, thats a no-no...
