Is Serious Seeds Kali Mist still good?

Thanks for the response BM10!!!!!!

No problem edro, glad I could add something to your thread bro.

I should clarify that I haven't grown SLH yet, I've only smoked some of a very nice pheno my buddy has. My earlier comment was based on smoking alone. I put good Kali a notch or two better up the totem pole. I have SLH beans waiting to be cracked though....who knows what I'll find in them? I may have to revise my earlier statement(s). :)

Great buds Hammer!! Lovely stuff ain't it bro?

Here's my sativa leaning pheno (second pic is day 80...she'll go at least another 2 weeks but well worth the wait).
She can get beastly if you let her.

Sorry bout the crappy pix, but it's as good as it gets with my old camera.

Peace

Okay, seeing that most people are still happy with Kali Mist would you perfer to grow Kali Mist or Greenhouse seeds Super Lemon Haze? Just wondering.

They are a bit different, but both plants that are unquestionably top shelf.

Kali is your classic Sativa, cleverly bred to give great yields in a short time of a benchmark Sativa, nothing I have ever tried could be called "better"

SLH has "more Indica" in the sense that the taste/smell is a full on Citronella Lemon and the high, while still very much head, has more of an instant SLAP of high potency, this is why it does so well in cups, it gets noticed, Kali's subtleties would end up getting more lost in mass smokeouts.

The correct answer really is both, they are different, but each is a true standout classic.

Good synopsis right there Chaos. Kali subtleties was what I was trying to infer....'there's just sumtin' about her'! :)

Yeah Chaos had it down but it has a clear explanation, besides all the bullshit that most seedbanks tell you all the time (it's called marketing guys!). As far as I've read... Kali Mist/Western Winds is (or used to be) an old Haze X Skunk selection while Super Silver Haze/Jack Herer/Mango Haze there are all selections of Skunk X NL5/Haze. Thats understandable as neither of those seedbanks worked their own genetics from zero (as they pretend) but from other existing lines as Skunk, Haze X Skunk, NL5/Haze, NL, Afgan and so on. They were the material that most of the dutch seedbanks had or the one they used to start breeding. Before Skunkman came to USA with all that stuff, there were just cucumbers and tulips!

This is like when the shitty seedbanks sell Skunk X White Widow and in the lineage they write: amazing hybrid combining the best qualities from strains brought India, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Afganistan! Bullshit...

So obvioulsy, the first one has "more sativa" make up on it. I've tried the old one and it was really nice, also bought Kali Mist from Serious in 2008 or so and it was disappointing. But same happened to me with AK47. I have Western Winds, still some Kali Mist and Haze X Skunk in the fridge, hopefully I will be able to test all that soon. :tiphat:

Hey Mustafunk, yeah bro, I've heard the 'latest edition' of Kali is not up to snuff. I know first hand also that the AK isn't!

Simon from Serious is one of the ones who does not bullshit. Anybody who has met the guy will say the same, he was a Genetics lecturer in the Netherlands, headhunted by Dronkers... and is a man of great integrity. I believe he worked for Sensi back when they had the "Cannabis Castle" hunting lodge near the German border. He then formed Cerebral Seeds, split a year or two after, his partners became Sargamatha, he became Serious Seeds. The Cerebral Seeds Sativa strain [forgotten what they called it] became Kali Mist @Serious and Western Winds at Sargamatha. There was then a deviation in lines selected, so KM and WW became a bit different.

I read up on this at the time and for good reasons that I have now forgotten, chose Kali Mist. I bought packs in 08 and '10, this year I ran a 10+ year old clone, it is exactly the same as the newer genetic, an exceptional plant, incredible duration, lack of ceiling, party weed you get an amazingly speedy vibrant buzz from.

Simon added a little bit more Indica into it, got a flood of complaints, so changed it back to exactly what it was all along. Stories of him and other breeders loosing their Mother plants all seem to mostly come from the same place, a fundamentally dishonest "rival" ... Likewise the current stories about ak47, it is just jealousy and greed from other seed producers.

Western Winds from Sagamathra seeds is supposedly the classic sativa Kali as the story goes.

Here is a quote from Claude from Serious

I have not grow kali mist but decided to order Western winds and grow that out after much much research and was vary happy with my western winds! musician buddy sweared by it for song writing and playing

Pre 98 Kali Mist was simply Skunk#1 x Original Haze F3, Simon didn't even choose the skunk or the Haze but got them from Sacred Seeds, although he did make selections for 3 generations and it was bomb Haze. Sargamatha revealed this years ago and I remember it causing a stir at the time. They made up the story about it being Cambodian or what ever because they knew it could be easily duplicated.

No one really goes for it anymore, but old school skunk haze is probably the greatest hybrid of all time IMO lol.

if he gets a flood of complaints then changes back to old, then they must be due a change pretty shortly!
furthermore why is he adding things then thinking that these are suitable for release when they are not?

I hate it when people blame bad seeds on ''haters'' or ''trolls'' or ''dishonest rivals'' the fact is many of these reports come back from everyday growers around the world. theres no smoke without fire.

im am 100% honest and don't work for any seed bank but I can say the ak47 has gone down the pan. ive not grown kali mist.

fan boys do damage to the community. they pull the wool over peoples eyes and don't allow the truth to out. if you like a breeder that's all good. but when people say they are experiencing shitty plants from packs etc don't write them off.

It's quite obvious you have never smoked original Kali Mist...lol its basically all i smoked in the Dam in 1999...and was smoking hazes along side it...and guess what...NOT RELATED....

it was totally different than the hazes out there...i do believe it has Cambodian genetics in there for sure..

this change was 10 odd years ago, was a one off AFAIK, not sure how you can spin that into "must be due a change pretty shortly"

"why is he adding things then thinking that these are suitable for release when they are not" He, Simon, added something once, then removed it. Serious is Simon's company, legendary for the highest quality strains, one of the very few who just releases the very best, not any old wonky untested polyhybrid. Of all the people you could accuse of releasing something "not suitable for release" he has to be the very last on the list. You do know he lectures on Genetics at a Dutch university ?

I put down some of the shit flying round specifically on ''haters'' or ''trolls'' or ''dishonest rivals' as there is one specific rival with a long history of spreading shit about people he sees as his rivals. If you have a look on his site there is a specific statement inferring that "all his rivals" got their mother plants confiscated in Dutch Police raids. If you look at his current output, it is pretty clear he is the one who has lost genetics.

I am also 100% honest and have zero interest in SS or any bank. I have met Simon many times, a fascinating guy to talk to. Apart from recieving several nice lighters, I have no further connection to SS. So, I am certainly no fan boy, but I do speak up when it is clear that some of the crap flying around is crap.

This thread is for discussion and information about Kali Mist, if you have a problem with another strain, keep it to the relevant pages and try not to add recycled old rumours to your points as it reduces their credibility.

Hi Chaos
Did you known the old AK, and the new one? I couldn't believe how different they are, while the bank still states that they are the same. That's what reduces their credibility, a straight lie.

I'm growing some 2008 KM, I'll have something to say in about a month. This bank has provided me some great experiences in the past, while my last experiences with them have been quite disappointing.

Cheers

Yes I have some. Some pictures from the first flowering stage, about two weeks after switching. Bud pictures were taken some days ago, at 70 days, except the closest one, that is from two weeks ago.

It will need 12 weeks I think. Unfortunately this was my only female from a batch of 5 seeds a friend sent me.
