Is my setup worth it

here we go... watt for watt = heat, watt for watt = yield. Simple.

400, hood w filter, 4" exhst fan..

listen to Lester and phases..

I've done well with yield/potency from the 'cheeses' 2 plants in that tent will yield, if you get all the other shit right, 300-400 grams.
and theres a lot of 'other shit'.

REALLY? Here's ONE plant under 220w Amare SE220. Never gets above low 80*s. Tent is 33 x 33. The cube is 19" on center.

one plant/sqft. in a 2' x 2.5' that would be 5 plants. i cant see that working. maybe 4 if you really want to cram it. someone mentioned 3 gallon pots (if you use coco you can use smaller pots, 2 gal is great for coco) soil i would go with 3-5 gal. no less.

pics show a 2'L x 4'W x 5'H tent
3 plants
3 gal pots
400w MH/HPS
plants were topped 3 times and LST to a minimum
30 days veg. 18/6

i wanted to do 5 but decided to be more conservative. i dont want to deal with crowding, and the issues that arise from it. first grow here :)

so three plants in a space almost double yours and its getting crowded.

p.s. stick with one strain at a time if you decide to do more than one plant.

I don't think he needs a month of veg, if from clone prob just a week, at most, then flip. Hence 5 or 6 plants. Shorter canopy ect ect

Hmm, true, that would work great. 4-6 plant 400w SOG quick and easy. good ventilation good to go. Sounds good to me.

My only advice regarding budget is to account for absolutely everything you thing you could possibly need.....and then make sure you have double that figure before you begin. There are always a ton of unexpected/unperceived costs, especially with your first grow, and if you budget yourself down to your last penny you're going to be screwed because there will always be half-a-dozen problems with your first (or any) grow that require some sort of investment, often times immediately upon discovery of the issue, and if you leave yourself with no fix-it capital your grow will be that much more likely fail.

It looks good, PF, I didn't say the led would not grow it. I said watt for watt theres not much more heat generated by 400 HID than a 400w LED. I could be wrong. Light efficiency??? Hypothetical.

There is more to it than watt for watt: HID radiates heat 360*, hence the need for hoods (and hot air extraction), that also means a good bit (~40%) of it is reflected= not as intense.

LED directs 100% of its light directly to the canopy, PLUS, newer gen leds have a very high lumen per watt, which allows for ~ 200 w LED to better 400w HID

Drop by my current thread to see what 220 can do

Yeah this is so true. I had a 600w digital ballets fail like a month after warrently and had to replace it mid flower, not great when haven't budgeted for an extra lights mid run.

Good advise always put more say then you will need and KISS - get a couple runs under your belt before buying all sorts of additives and boosters. Learn how the plant grows and what it needs. She ll tell ya what she wants... :tiphat:
