I've never seen any of these studies separate causation from self medication. I get relief from ADHD by smoking weed but I had the condition way before I accidentally found a treatment. I suspect it's the same for those suffering from psychosis, schizophrenia and other mental orders. Probably find an even stronger correlation with alcohol consumption.

OR taking "medications" like prednisone that make you fuken batty in some cases. throwing out meds because the FDA let them has fuked up multiple generations

well, those two conditions are not mutually exclusive of one another. and there are LOTS of folks that i hope end up depressed...

I recall this being addressed in the past as the mentally ill gravitating to drug use as is it is one of the traits of these diseases, i.e. drug use.

Conversely harm across the same demographic drops when there is access to cannabis opposed to other drugs.
