Is it safe to get grow equipment at Amazon?

I was just browsing Amazon, and they have grow lights and ballasts!!! I was wondering if anybody has ever ordered from them, and what their experience was?

thats where i got mine, came in 3 days, the box with the ballast, chords, cooltube and bulb were all inside a generic amazon box so it was stealth. the light i ordered was a generic 400w hps cool tube, but it's really sturdy and works super good! the ballast makes no noise at all and barely gets warm, stays cold with a 4 inch fan blowing on it.i would highly recommend it for the 150 bucks it cost me!

I've ordered tons of stuff for growing from Amazon..but both my Fed-ex guy the UPS guy AND the US Post office lady HAVE to know I grow....(shrug) but I live in Santa Cruz, CA so who the hell cares, their are like 6 people within a 1/2 mile of me that do also.

You might want to turn off the automatic suggestions for buying more stuff,
just in case someone is looking over your shoulder when you return to the site.

Yup, I bought my last light/lamp/ballast setup through Amazon. Cheap, free shipping, no tax, stealthy, and fast. No problems, no complaints.

This is REALLY good advice, I had kelp meal coming up when I went to amazon and had some friends were over. I don't think any of them saw it, but it made me feel uneasy nonetheless.

With the volume that Amazon has. It is better than some hydro shops. We have one 50 miles away in a non med state. Great place for cops to enjoy their coffee and donuts. They have been opened less than a year and two managers in the big house so far. Some stuff ships from Amazon some from the retailers. I buy what Amazon has in stock.

a couple months ago i got a HUGE air compressor that weighed over 100 lb's, shipped in 1 day for $3....

i wouldn't hesitate to buy any grow equipment from them......

When considering buying something online I split the risks associated with doing so into 2 categories:
1. The fuzz runs my credit card and sees my purchases
2. The fuzz is monitoring everything purchased from the retailer

As for number one, if the cops are pulling your credit card records then you probably have bigger things to worry about. It's not an excuse to get sloppy, I'd just say that the risk factor there is relatively low. Use a prepaid debit if you can. Ideally the grow address will be neither the billing nor shipping address.

Amazon is unlikely to be monitored in such a fashion just because of the huge volume of stuff they ship. It's possible, but seems unlikely to me. Like ijim mentioned, some 3rd parties sell through Amazon. If it were me I would buy what Amazon were selling directly also. They also have a lot of eyes on them since it's such a big operation. If they were secretly feeding the cops information I don't think it would be long before that info leaked.

I can't say for sure whether Amazon is sharing your purchasing information with the cops--but I would say it's highly, highly, HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

Yeah, I would say it is HIGHLY unlikely that Amazon is doing any such thing.

I got my carbon scrubber from there and had no problems. All amazon cares about is that you pay for your merchandise.

amazon doesn't care, there about selling product, and as much product as possible. there sales for product are way to high to do anything about anything.. why do yo think there selling hydro equipment at amazon now and have been? because of money.. plain and simple, there to busy thinking how to expand and sell more and more that they don't give two shits..

do you think they would give the police every address to someone who bought DJ shorts book, or somas book, or mel frankes book, or robert clarkes book, or ed rosenthal's book....

remember growing is not illegal, and for some states, it's "legal" to go pot

I just say this as someone who has bought stuff online for years as I had no hydro shops.. years and years of buying, years and years of buying seeds to my house and never once did anything happen.. I think there is alot of fear worry and anxiety people need to let go of when growing.. to me, what's gonna get you busted is telling people, even 1 person..

There is far less risk associated with online shopping than there is frequenting a grow shop, imo. Growing indoor fruits and vegetables using HID's in soil or hydro turns out much more costly than simply purchasing your goods at the store. Only a very few wacky people are going to be buying indoor grow equipment for legit purposes. The whole idea that you can just skip out of a hydro store and load your car up with lights and nutes because it's legal is kinda goofy, imo. My old school buddy parks way down the street, and just carries all his gallons and hoods for blocks, ready to lose a tail and ditch his new purchases like a f'n weirdo. Super goofy dude.

I just always make sure to order everything in "discreet packaging". I made the mistake of ordering a co2 generator without "discreet packaging" and a 3'x3'x3' box sat out on my doorstep with Co2 GENERATOR printed on all four sides of it for half a day.

If I had to do everything over again, I would only make a couple purchases a week, and I would stick to sellers that offer discreet packaging. I don't really like my mailman knowing what's up, and I'm sure he already does..

HA.. didn't see how old this was.

Amazon is a life saver. especially if you use amazon prime.

:yeahthats

Prime rules. Been using Amazon for years. I much rather prefer this way than going to a shop. Soil is pretty much the only thing I ever get from shops anymore.

Just make sure to note whether the item says this: "This item’s packaging will indicate what is inside and cannot be hidden."

A recent drunken purchase had me missing that (something I normally check) but thankfully a Hurricane wall mounted fan isn't as bad as it could've been...
