Is Humboldt County All Hype??

asheville will be the new humboldt when the laws are a little less conservative. its a cool town and all but not at all as open-minded as humboldt. asheville is the coolest town on the east coast though, no doubt.

It still happens, but the police are trying to run a tight ship these days =P

Theres a ton of towns in Humboldt County, Garberville/Redway is basically South Humb, Arcata/Eureka is North Humb,

i'm sure humboldt is a chill little town that has gotten a bit touristy because of the hype... but i bet there are still plenty of good people to associate yourself with, and there will definitely be tasty bowls a plenty. cheers, gl!

Hey Now, I think Arcata is a cool place. I have a good friend who loves it.
Find the Eye http://www.arcataeye.com/ It a good way to get a local pulse.
Seems the only real annoyance is roving bands of drummers that wake up the locals. Housing is tight, too many rentals are growhouses . Pricey, my only real problem with it is getting there. It's way up north.

Its all about what you can deal with. The secluded hippies can sometimes not be the funnest bunch to live around.......add in the town crack-heads and shit could get scary at anytime.

Yeah they built million dollar condos in downtown asheville. no one around here can afford that kind of shit. people can hardly find jobs yet there building million dollar condos. your right its retired yuppies from florida coming up... im seeing more and more florida plates, and let me tell you about those assholes they can't drive on mountains! they always go up windy roads at like 10 miles an hour.

Humbolt is a county and like any rural area, jobs are hard to come by. Mendocino is also nice for weed and a little more ( not much ) job opportunity.

People are very nice. As for tweakers, they follow the poverty... you can see them a mile away, sadly, with their dirty kids.

Not to mention it's phenomenally beautiful and serene.

I've lived in rural areas mostly all of my life, that is one thing that I find most intriguing about the nor cal area. I don't expect it to be a place where one can show up and have something given to them, cause, in my life, I've never been given anything..

..and yes..asheville is yuppy friggin central...there are plenty of old hippies, plenty of younger freaks and hippie stoner types, but its like a 1:3 cool to yuppie ratio......

having been to all towns mentioned i am havin a hard time not sayin anythin. boone, what a fun college/ ski town. ashville, great place to catch warren haynes. humbolt, hella place to learn to be green (not the herb kind... the recycling/ planet friendly kind).

not gonna comment on hype cause imo places have a way of treatin individuals differently.
