Is compost tea with bat guano fast acting?

Hi,

I am making some tea with worm castings, high phosphorus bat guano, liquid seaweed and molasses.

The plant is in flower and showing signs that it needs some P.

Will the finished tea be fast acting, or do I need to add some bottled bloom ferts?

Thank´s in advance

It will be somewhat fast acting. I would say so for an organic fertilizer at least. Bat guano is actually my goto when I start seeing P deficiency show up in flower. I have over 50lbs of it, lol. It will still take about a week before you notice it working though.

What size pot and how big are they? Do you have any pics?

No pics, but I some minor P def is showing.
Pot is 4 gal allmix soil.
Do you mean Pro-Mix? A 4 gal pot of Pro-Mix isn't gonna need 3 gallons of tea, so I'm not sure why you're making such a big batch unless you have more than one plant. How long are you going to bubble the tea for? And are you straining it or feeding the solids too? And just for the record, 2 TBLS guano per 3 gallons water is super mild.

I would really like to see pics but I get it if you don't want to post any so no worries. And @Old Piney is right that EWC are liquid gold.

The worst toxicity have seen comes from ammonia in organic gardening,
Other bacterial species such as Nitrobacter, are responsible for the oxidation of the nitrites (NO−2) into nitrates (NO−3). It is important for the ammonia (NH3) to be converted to nitrates or nitrites because ammonia gas is toxic to plants.

This is the part of the Ammonia cycle you want to understand hot fresh compost needs to age for about 30 days in a very hot mix you will smell the ammonia coming off after a couple weeks when the smell is gone it's safe to continue, some growers will test the mix with grass seedlings 🌱

Better than killing 10$ seedlings but the other thing is earth worm casting are seedling safe so there is that.

Also the organic systems are slow to change which also makes them more forgiving usually. Easier and the organic vibe makes me feel earth friendly 😍

A hybrid organic/hydo chem nute is a good combo 👌 a well balanced chemical feed can really perk plants up quickly and add balance back to a depleted closed system

If in small pots organic growers super dose the lower third of the container with extremely concentrated organic compost fertilizer this puts the adult roots in reach of needed feed without risk of killing young 🪴

What is the NPK values of your guano
They vary widely and fresh high N guano
Would absolutely benefit from aeration in tea until the cycle of ammoniafication completes as padawan was saying.

It would be well advised to let it go bubble for a long time until it smells "sweet" if its a high N fert.

Just my thoughts 🤷‍♂️
on a mature plant prob be OK
Everything in moderation you can put more in but it's hard to undo nute burn

Best >>> :huggg:

Very interesting read @acespicoli
I just find it hard to find the relevance to my question: Will bat guano in ACT be fast acting?
I have a small amount of guano in the brew, so nutrient toxicity should not be a concern.

I use Plagron Bat Guano with NPK of 3-15-4. It is not pure bat, but a mix of bat, seabird and vinasse.
Plagron recommends to to use 50L/1000L in soil, if mixed in from the start.
I use 15L pot, so that would be 7.5dl guano, if mixed from the start.

In my tea, I used maybe 1dl guano just to boost my liquid nutrients which is Biobizz Grow/Bloom.

What do you think?

I grow ROLS in 1 or 1 1/2 gallon containers so weak feeding teas are used throughout flower. I top dress with castings and Fish Bone Meal at the end of 4 weeks.

Keeps things hopping

Also not very sustainable and there's better local options for most folks.
Several years back I was being diagnosed using a scan for a medical issue, don't remember if it was an MRI or CT. Later after reading the report I noticed the mention of histoplasmosis and my spleen. It seems I was exposed to the fungus, probably from cleaning my chicken coup. I was told that it likely wouldn't be problem unless something severely weakened my immune system. Then it could be a real problem.

I bought a small bag of bat guano years ago and it's still in with my collection of fertilizers. I'll have to remember this story.

Geez talk about death by misadventure... crazy too because I know alot of people have used guano for years.
Guess that wear your dust mask warning is not to be taken lightly.. 🙏
@LHC hows your grow coming along ?

All is fine @acespicoli
But, I still don´t know if guano in tea are fast acting:)
It depends what you're calling fast acting, I have used many different sources of bat guano but only rarely in tea, in my experience the plants start to show signs of its action around 5/7 days after application never earlier. I prefer to mix the bat guano in the soil when I make the transplant before flowering. The few times I've used some in tea, I didn't find it as effective as mixing straight in the pot and didn't see any signs of action before the 5/7 days already mentioned. Hope this help.
edit: the dosages of your tea are really low, I would use more of each ingredient by 50% at least.

I would not consider a organic system fast acting, a chemical on the other hand is readily put into solution. What we are looking at is are all of the ions readily available to the plant? We get into a thing referred to as soil science, base saturation, cation exchange etc... some things to Google... but for a quick easy supply of nutrient which is what we're after is the plant being fed optimally or is it starving and the answer lies in a test called SME saturated media extract. We want to purchase a EC meter and measure the run off in this way we see the nutrient content of the container that's available to the plant.

@Creeperpark can also give so pointers here for water types and EC? As well as making sure we get faster answers to get the best results.
