"Krivit also noted that Rossi has been accused of a few crimes, including tax fraud and illegally importing gold, which are unrelated to his research."

Neither of the charges are of particular note, since tax-evasion is the Italian national sport. If those allegations imply something unpleasant about Mr. Rossi, it's only because he was found out.

If indeed these guys have any actual scientific credibility ( previously published, peer reviewed, research ) then it might be worth a second look. Any scientist worth a darn wouldn't go so far out on a limb and risk being branded a crackpot for the rest of their career.

Unless others are able to replicate the experiment, it's all just a mirage.

Part of the reason these machines/reactors will never pass the US patent office is because any patent that comes across the desks claiming "over unity," outputting more energy than is being input, i.e. 1:20 given in a previous post, is automaticlly denied as it is breaking the law of thermodynamics.
Sounds pretty stupid to me. If the reactor is shown to be true and in working order, as well as recreatable why the hell would someone deny a patent....oh yeah almost forgot, cheap renewable energy = loss of power for the ones in charge.

Peace

You guys need to go back and review your high school physics notes...

1 J of energy input does not and will not produce more than 1 J of energy output. It's a basic law of the universe, you cannot create or destroy only transfer.

I haven't read the article but people in this thread seem to be discussing fusion reactions, which are possible but have yet to yeild a resonable, applicable and safe power source(except our sun).

Cold fusion(correct me if I'm wrong here I'm writing from memory) is a fusion reaction that occurs at near room temps or some other sub-atomic activity that generates energy. Things that do not seem to violate the physics theory you posted.

I don't quite understand the whole wiki article, but if they found a way for alpha, beta, or gama decay then this is the source for the energy released. It seems like he is doing some kind of decay to me because he uses a unknown powder that has copper in it. But this is over me. It will be interesting to see it work if it does.

well, if its some device to split hydrogen at low temps.

then 80w to get 12kw , isnt breaking any natural law..

since its 80w plus the hydrogen, plus whatever they used to split the hydrogen.

nano size nickel powder?

then what , thrown at a high velocity at a hydrogen atom?

well. dunno, but what if you could shoot a small enough particle through something like a hydrogen, would it shatter like something shot with a bullet?

would it create energy doing that?

seems kinda what they are getting at.

but im really shooting in the dark, going by that article.

its interesting nonetheless.

though mentioning the superrich, id personally maybe, just put the plans to the machine, all over the world on the internet.

or make it so at least, that if im dead or something, the plans go on the internet.

this shit is ridiculous... cold fusion... hydrogen technology in your house... ridiculous... and unnecessary. They have power inverters on the market that you can and have been able to buy from Sears online that produce around 6-8,000w continuously off around 3-600w of power. Now thats not 80w's but its keeping hydrogen, potential life ending explosions, ect out of our houses. Its basically just a bad ass ballast. you plug it in the wall socket and plug your power strips/extension cords into the sockets on the inverter and the lights from there. Saves lots of money, power on the grid, ect. will keep big ops from looking big on the bills, plus it saves MONEY!

good point.

that, plus there is something about the article that says fake to me.

hoax.

though i do find the shooting nano particles into atoms idea, kinda curious, too bad i cant test it lol ;)

The wiki link I posted is regrding Muon-catalyzed fusion, a low temp fusion tech that seems to be proven and excepted in modern science. It just is not a viable power source, yet.
There may exist other methods to produce fusion at low temps, or some other sub-atomic activity to generate power.

I'm not saying this is not a hoax, may well be. I just bumped this to discount claims that low temp fusion or power generation from sub-atomic activity is impossible.

power inverters DO NOT produce electrical energy, they change voltage and its wave from ac to dc or vise versa....there is actually an energy LOSS during this conversion ...

It makes sense that stories like this would be coming out of Italy and be linked to Greece as both Countries are fucked economically and would like to generate overseas investment through any means given their circumstances. I'm not saying the whole thing isn't possible but that the timing just seems suspicious and if they do have such technology they would use it to cut their budget deficits and it would be in the mainstream media.

I also subscribe to the theory that if such a device were created the big oil/gas companies would keep it under wraps (with help from governments everywhere) until they have pumped the last of our natural resources out of the ground. It's what they are geared to do and stopping would be a catastrophe for them aswell as employment numbers as they employ masses of people.

There are so many problems in the world that could easily be solved but aren't. Take the war on drugs as a prime example, they keep up the rhetoric, pump out statistics from research they run and brainwash 70% of the population into thinking that waging war on their own communities and families is right and just. Those who believe in humankind being good natured are kidding themselves, were fucked and there's shit all we can do about it, it's in our genes.
