Inline fan connected directly to carbon filter?

I have a grow tent that is limited in space, im wondering if it is OK to connect my inline 6 inch fan directly to my carbon filter, with no ducting. The air will then go through a cool tube then be exhausted

does anyone see a problem when doing this?

also is it recommended to keep the white cotton like material filter on the outside of the carbon filter?

thanks

I would. It will catch alot of dust that would otherwise get into the carbon an make it less effective.

you got it...keep the pre-filter, and put the fan right on top of the filter.....just hope you got the right size flange for your fan......sometimes the flange & fan will be the same size, so you might have to buy a short piece of duct to couple them togehter........example....fan 6in exactly, flange 6in exactly, wont go together, so you need some 6in duct which is 6-1/8 inside....compreda'?

I would also put a screen on your intakes. I did this and at the end of my grow they were BROWN with dust!

Any dirt kept from getting in is dirt that cant cause desease!!

You don't want to blow un-filtered air INTO a scrubber - you can plug it up from the inside with lint and crap.

Yeah, I mounted my fan directly to filter and used a rope hoist to hang it from the ceiling, need to move it higher though, take advantage of convection:
