birthday today. How fortunate is that. The day I was busted a elderly man told I; " You might forget God, but God will never forget you!"

Another Case of American Blind Justice

Hey Now, You all not gonna believe this but I'm home safe and sound.
I guess I'll say it went better than expected. Here's how it went;

I got a ride to court cause I did'nt know if I would be leaving. My court appointed Lawyer, I'll call Mr. Pitt was 45 minutes late. I was told to sit in the lobby to watch for him. I really was'nt expecting him at all. Being that it's so cold around here I retreated to the courtroom after 30 minute wait for warmth. Other folks were getting sentenced today and I wanted to hear how the Judge was feeling. First guy was a buisnessman who violated his probation by drinking. Seems those urine test are alot more precise than I thought. He avoided jail, but got a breath lockup machine for his car and more treatment. Seems that drinking alot of water makes the test "diluted." That was enough proof he was'nt being truthful.
Next guy was a DUI. College grad working at a micro brewery. He refused the breath test when arrested. He got two years probation and ten days in jail. If you refuse to blow in Ohio you also loose you driving license for a year.
Seemed a little harsh. Last fellow was a Hispanic guy who was caught shoplifting a Halloween costume and fighting with his girlfriend. Domestic violence, like one of my charges. He had spent a year in prison for assault once,and needed alchol assesment. So he was taken away in cuffs to jail, with his girlfriend and 6 year old son crying. Man, I was'nt feeling too good. Mr. Pitt showed up,so I was next. Mr. Pitt smelled really bad, like he needed some mouthwash.
I was sentenced to 30 days in jail for the two counts of Disorderly Conduct with persistence. Don't ask me why,but the Domestic Violence charge was changed to one count. Marijuana possesion/cultivation under 100 grams was changed to the other Disorderly Conduct. Drug Paraphinalia charge was dropped, if I accepted the plea agreement. Now here the twist. The jail time was STAYED till 11/7/07. If I abstain from drinking& smoking the jail time will be forgotten. If I do get caught with a bad urine test I will go immediatly to jail for 30 days. If I stay clean for 9 months. I will be done with the court..

The Probation Officer is called The Community Control Officer. A very powerful position. In all the cases it was the CCO report to the judge that determined the out come. Mine was a pretty young woman. She told about the fight, my lost teeth,and how the plants were found by accident. She also told the Judge about being a Rastafarian and using Marijuana for back spasms.
Mr Pitt, was about to shit his pants when she said that. She told the judge my side of the story. What I had waited 5 months to do. I was'nt drunk at the time, never been busted for drugs, and have been attending AA meetings to maintain soberity during this waiting period. This is the process around here.
I've been working, but with the cold weather as a painter I'm not really busy. I was fined $50 for each count of Disorderly Conduct. That was suspended if I paid the court cost TODAY. As I was out on two bonds $350, $300. Total court cost $441. The court had a check made out to me for $209. I got my check, set up my next Probation appointment March 6, and I was outside in the cold calling for a ride home.

I really expected alot worse. I was thinking like $1000, some jail time,and several years probation. So, I think I got break today. A real fine Bob Marley birthday present. I am subject to "a pop urine test" at any time, so I have to maintain sobriety. Mr. Pitt was suprised and smiling. Seems like so much of life can reflect a Seinfield episode. I did loose my 30 year old bong, 12 nice plants, and a little of my dignity. I learned a little too. Keeping your growing area clean. Live a peaceful life, fighting can cause the loss of a crop. Also not "flipping out" when the cuffs are put on.
We all watch TV cops shows. That stuff is alot of TV. Staying polite, dealing honestly with these "pigs" that busted me, helped in the long run. Everyone has a different experience than mine. I was caught redhanded by my local cops. The story stayed out of the newspapers. I did'nt spend thousands for bullshit legal advice. I did break the law. Even as unjust as all these drug laws are. My rights were violated totally. Alot of folks are in jail tonight, fighting for their rights. If you got no money, you got very little option but to be polite. My story just mine, if you grow,any amount your story will be different.
Thanks to International Cannagraphic for a place to vent my frustration during this ordeal. Thanks to all you Old Stoners for listening and offering support. Sure helped me cope. Cause this shit can drive you crazy. So, I'm thankful to Jah. I be able to get my spring crop in, and continue to work for a peaceful change of all these laws against Marijuana.
