First frost here is November 20 something.
Mostly Ace seeds. Malawi, GT, Bangi Haze. Might toss in a couple of Sensi Stars to offset all the great Sativas.
Will use at least one fem seed from each of the above Ace strains and I'll pop a couple of the standard seeds for each. Decide what to keep after sexing. Spread them out between the two grow locations and hope for the best.
Figured the Sensi Star and Bangi Haze will definitely finish before the end of October. Malawi and GT are iffy depending on how soon the first hard frost hits. I've read that they can survive a "minor" frost of 28-32 degrees without too much of a problem. Hopefully that's true AND I won't need to find out.
Any suggestions/criticisms? All are welcome.....and helpful.

flboy: Do you know how much 65 gallons of your second recipe (henceforth known as FB#2) weighs in pounds?
I thought you were popping seeds in mid-March and planting May 1st? Maybe I misunderstood. My plan is to also start in cups and then move them to 3 gallon smart pots outside under polly in a raised bed. How long are you vegging in pots before putting them in their final pots? I think I'm confused on the time frame of when you are popping, vegging and finally planting. Of course your frost issues are different than mine and I will probably need to harvest before you.
Thanks again.

Almost correct GG. In the northern part of the state we are susceptible to frost from late Nov until late Feb. About 280 growing days.

All the pretty Canadian girls down here insist on quality smoke to help them forget their distant Canuck boyfriends.

first off i did bangi last season and they finished for me late september first week of october so you will be fine with her. malawi was done november if i remember correct and gt i have not done but i think it call's out end october. i cracked the seeds in march and put them in cups with seed starter from wal-mart. they stayed in them for a couple weeks out side. once they were rooted good in them i up them to 2 gallon polly bags with just promix and ewc for a month or so. so around mid may they went into the final pots.the bangi will be fine if put in in this time frame for the finish time that i stated above. the malawi i would stagger a month do to them not starting to flower till august. if you are thinking 65 gallon pots i would just cut around the polly bag about half way down the bag and pull it off and set them into the final pot this way you don't have to set them as deep in the final pot. as far as the weight of the mix of 65 gallon i think the bail is 60 # the only thing that will add to it would be the ewc and ffof so i'm thinking 100 to 115 # but if you take 2 trips then it would be much easier at least for me anyway. remember with the sativa you will get high female to male ratio. i open 4 bangi reg. last time and ended up with 3 females so i think the malawi and possibly the gt will be the same my malawi's are the breeders pack and fem. but dubi said to expect a high female rate with the standard seeds.

YES AT TIMES IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET SOME FROST DOWN HERE BUT NOT ALWAYS IT IS 40 DEGREES THIS MORNING HERE SO IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY CLOSE TO FREEZING WHERE OLD TOKER IS. THE ONLY THING IS IT WARMS BACK UP DURING THE DAY FOR ME

BE LOOKING TO SEE WHAT YOU DO THIS SEASON GG

STAY SAFE AND KEEP IT GREEN

Thanks a lot flboy......that time frame was EXACTLY what I needed.
I plan to pop 2 each regular Malawi, GT and Bangi Haze. So I will need to find 3 of those 6 plants as worthy of the three holes not occupied by the fem seed holes. IF those fem seed plants are ALL worth keeping. I'd be delighted if most of these 6 reg seed plants were healthy females and my biggest problem was which ones to plant.
Excellent tip on how to move them to the larger pots. Two trips of 50# for eight plants (16 trips) should be doable.....and not too much of a security risk.
Appreciate all the help.

dude how old are you? if you pull this off props to you.

As a old toker myself you could go with ten 20 gal or five 50 gal smart pots. Thats 10-12 promix bricks . I pack them in using a shelf pack one at a time and they weigh 40 lbs or under depending on moisture content. Very easy in a aluminum frame shelf type back pack. Tied down correctly you can combine promix and other planting materials ( pots, ferts, tools) over the ten trips.

I use slow release ferts 1 cup/5gal soil in swamps so i dont have to water.

Just another method that requires less trips and less weight because of the slow release ferts.
good luck to you

Thanks for the suggestions hamstring! I'm 60+ yrs old but dealing with some minor medical issues and trying to avoid killing myself while my wife is still young enough to use the life insurance to recruit some young stud.

My long term goal.....if both of these sites manage to harvest without getting ripped or busted.....is to cut back to 4-5 plants after this grow.. I'll amend the holes and maybe alternate planting between the sites. All big ifs....

In the mean time I'll do the best I can to amend these 8 holes and to keep the weight down.

Thanks again!

From one old toker to another google (cache hauler) you cant go wrong. I promise you its worth every penny. I would post a picture but by googling it you will see other options some less expensive some more.

40 -50lbs is preety easy with this. I have to sit down and put the pack on. The only issue is getting up but if you rock forward to your knees with a pole or small tree for support its easy to get up once you get it down. Otherwise you need to build a platform so you put the pack on standing up.

I wish you the best of luck as I am old guerrilla who feels your pain. I hope your spots are well secluded because in my area changing locations is part of the gig.

Thanks again hamstring! I'm thinking 50 lbs at a time is doable. I can do a couple of trips a day.....and allowing for decent weather and rests.....be done in a week or so. No rush.....and no need to finish quickly. I'm happy that I'm not the only "old" toker on here and I appreciate the pack suggestion. Good luck with your grows!
