Im going to Denver!! What's cool to do???

I've always thought of moving to Denver ever since i drove through it once, so beautiful,.. and finally im taking a trip there to check it out! Me and my girl and a few friends are going for the Mile High Music Festival July 18-19, but we're only going to see Saturdays bands and spend Sunday and Monday checking out all Denver has to offer. We'll be renting a car and staying at a hotel and i was hoping some local Denver tokers could tell me some cool stuff to do/see when we're there! I heard once of this park in Denver where they always have a bunch of cool people hanging out and drum circles and stuff but i forget the name of it.
Can anyone help me out with some suggestions and maybe even warnings of where not to go?

I would definately reconsider Denver bro its like a city in a bowl that collects smog because it cant escape.A cool town I lived in for several years just an hour away is Colorado Springs.I had a beautiful view of Pikes Peak from my living room window, and Garden of the Gods was just around the corner. So many cool little mountain towns close by like Cripple Creek if youy're into gambling and buffalo burgers to Manitou Springs which boasts the highest witch population per capita of any town in the U.S lol.Maniutou Springs was the Haight-ashbury of the midwest during the 70's.Theres still a lot of hippies but the witches have taken over lol.Colorado was just too cold for me,I much prefer Florida and doubt I'll ever go back, especially to Denver.Look around before deciding on Denver

ya i said Denver cuz that's where we'll be that weekend but if i moved there i was actually thinking somewhere outside of the actual city like Colorado Springs, Boulder, or Fort Collins. Not that im not sure to a bowl of smog living in Vegas at the moment
:fsu:

Where to go and what to do and see while im there though???

I've spent enough time in Colorado to know the best part is usually leaving.

yeah best to get out of denver as quick as u can...

...head for the mtns...they are plenty close.

i lived in Evergreen for the past 10 years....if your considering relocating ...check out evergreen it's in the mtns about an hour west of downtown denver.

theres lots of cabins u can rent in evergreen and people dont bother you ever.

Red Rocks is cool too...look at their schedule and see if anyone u like is playing there while your in the area www.redrocksonline.com

boulder is alright...kind of a strange mix of hippies and yuppies...head out just a bit west of boulder and youll hit Nederland (pretty much mandatory that you have dreadlocks and smoke weed if u live in nederland).

people in Golden are pretty cool too.

thanks for the reply,.. enough of the Denver city limits bashing though everyone :)
I really started this thread to get ideas of where to go while in Denver for that weekend. Anyone??

Thanks man!
Whats this garden of the gods thing all about? What's going on there, why does everyone seem to like it so much? A few of you haven mentioned it so im curious,.. how would it be on a Monday? Reason i ask is cuz ill be checking out Denver and perhaps the surrounding areas Sunday and Monday and my friends are flying out Sunday so going down to co springs would prob be a Monday thing.

lived in manitou springs for a few years...
garden of the gods is a large park bettween it and colorado springs which encircles several dozen sandstone rock formation... some are several hundred feet tall and when the weather is agreeable the rockclimbers are out in force to entertain the less adventurous tourists...

that said,
colorado springs is the center of evil in america today... its firmly in the hands of militant christian fuckheads who own the air force academy YOU will have to drive past getting from denver to there...

bring a few pounds of sage leaves to smolder and chalk for drawn pentagram where ever your given to pause IF you want a visit to leave you your soul still attached...

oh and dont forget...
the denver mint and museums are engaging attraction...
not to mention a tour of the local coors brewer in golden...

where americans STILL shine the statue of a noted industrailist who couldnt get enough of hitler...

MJJ if i can find them i'l post some pics of the royal gorge anf garden of the gods and 11 mile pics for you..don't let these fools tell ya denver sucks i love it there particulary silverthorne..we i mean my wife and 2 sisters own a condo right on lake dillon..haven't been in a few yrs. but we're going mayb this summer..but red rocks is a must it's a natural ampitheater..

again whats the point of these negative messages that offer NOTHING to the topic at hand? get a life you guys, really, get a flipping life and find something better to do with your time then wasting every ones time.

Take a trip up to Estes Park and visit the Stanley Hotel, where they filmed the stair scene from Dumb and Dumber. Beautiful, cool little town, then stay on that road up to Rocky Mountain National Park. Beautiful place to camp, hike, sightsee, etc.. Just bring a rain jacket, those summer storms can pop up pretty quick.
I lived in Boulder for 5 years, and like NOKUY said, check out Nederland outside of Boulder, funky little mountain town. Also, give Boulder a try, most people tend to love the town, strange mix of people, but all friendly for the most part. Just head to the mountains, Evergreen, Rocky MOuntain nat' park, Nederland, Garden of the Gods, Florissant, etc. and you won't be disappointed. I was thinking of going to the Mile High Music Festival myself, but it is now over a 16 hour drive from where I call home now........we'll see if I make it, but if I do- I will undoubtedly schedule an extra week to travel around the state and do some hiking----Rocky Mountain National Park is always a destination for me, you can find somewhere to have a snowball fight even in June and July, crazy stuff

In Denver check out the Moontime Bar and Grill- named after one of my favorite bands, who will be headlining Mile High. Good little bar to play some pool and throw back some cold one

If you make it to a Cheba Hut I recommend the Acapulco Gold. That place is crazy, all their sandwiches have names like "Thai Stick, Panama Red, Schwag, Trainwreck, Afghani, etc" and you order in sizes such as Nugs, Pinners and Blunts. Definitely a stoner friendly place to pick u a quick sandwich
