Good luck! Keep us posted with lots of pics. I'd love to see pics of a cannabis hunt in Haiti. Also interested to see prices and varieties that get imported and exported thru the island.

I'm sorry these are really interesting questions I forgot to answer earlier. Many things in Haiti are imported from the DR so I am sure seeds would not be any different. the seeds from the DR are probably from Amsterdam? 'm not sure.

I don't know if they are too particular about varieties because Haitians are not the main buyers of this weed. even though it is illegal. if anybody grows it is probably not for personal use. Lots of drugs get trafficked through Haiti.

i also am not sure about the price I gave a family member $5 to get some for me when they are ready to harvest. I didn't ask for a specific amount but he is always generous so I'm sure it will be a lot. I actually would not have had to give him anything so I truly don't know the price. i might ask around.

What an interesting adventure. If this is your first attempt at landrace strain-hunting in Haiti, maybe the next time you'll get more info. Keep us in the loop. I wonder if Jamaica is similar or different, in terms of cultivating native varieties vs importing stuff. BC in JA at least, a significant portion of the local population consumes cannabis quite avidly, and in local folk medicine, decoctions of the flowers are consumed even by non-smokers. And I'd expect tourists who travel there do so expecting to experience local weed, as opposed to the hybrid genetics they can get at home... Just wondering...

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Jamaican landrace, Kings Breath, or Lambs Breath (bread?) weed. Not even on Orange hill. It's all hybrid. Maybe up in the back country. I don't know or have any connections there.

You may be 100% right when it comes to what's bought and sold there being commercial hybrid genetics, but I think you're also right that there's landrace weed in them there hills.

I've got fam from the boonies of JA and what they grew up putting in their tea whenever they had a cold weren't no hybrid ganja. They didn't sell or buy it because it was so commonplace - every other family would have a ganja root or two in the yard for when someone got sick. The descendants of those plants would have been kept alive for their utility, without the need or desire for anything more exotic. But then, who knows what pollen they've been exposed to by now...

Yes,this was my first time strain hunting and I had not been to Haiti awhile so I had to get the feel of things again. My biggest issue is transportation. Haiti can be very temperamental. One moment it is nice and the next all gas stations miraculously don't have any gas. So even though i have a car here and a driver it can be VERY difficult to get around. I am going to try to make another trip here before the end of the year and I will plan accordingly. I have family up in the mountains and I believe that is my best chance.

@CroptimusPrime Yes, I would say that although cannabis just isn't popular for recreational use here like Jamaica it is used in haitian folk medicine with vodouists.

thank you for all the comments!!!
