My first job out of college was in the oil patch by Morgan City, LA. I had to ask a local what a CoonAss meant since everyone used the word. Down there it meant a Cajun from the local area. I really loved the food and music, but skeeters and cottonmouths not so much.

He was probably from North of I-10. Everything changes around the interstate.

A Cajun's accent and dialect is totally different from people from Monroe or Shreveport, etc. They are a little different up there.

skeeters bother me more than cotton mouths ever did..atleast you can eat a cotton mouth in a pinch..skeeters are useless ......no secret to catching crawdads here..i use whatever I got..any kind fish,catfood,dogfood,bread,bacon,chicken and the list goes on...we don't have the crawdad numbers like la tho...takes several days to aquire enough to make a good meal....yeehaw..I def go for the good stuff in the head.growing up I did the same for lobster but with a spoon...

Interesting, just like the "N" word with people of color it's okay for one Cajun to call another "coonass" but an insult for non Cajuns to use the term on a Cajun. I wonder how many other ethnic groups are cool with using terms on each other that are considered an insult when people not of that group use it?

it is estimated that "whites" will be the minority in most countries within 25 years or so. well, not most of the Scandinavian countries. might as well find a good looking (pick one) and start "assimilating" now, avoid the rush later on! hell, look at Castillian Spanish bloodlines. many of them are blondes...
