This question is genuine and a reflection of my relative newness on ICMAG. Who is the "competitor" that runs this forum? I didn't realise it's attached to a breeder or seed bank or ?

The underlying problem is that you are a business and you are on a competitors site. That is not a recipe for any kind of success. It's just not in the cards. This site was built by someone doing the same thing you are doing and they are not going to let you get a leg up on account of their hard work. It's that simple. The best thing you can do is get your own website up and running, then figure out how to attract people to do business with. As long as you piggy back on these types of forums you will be suppressed. That is just how capitalism works. I feel your pain and know not how I can make anything better. It sucks bro. I have a business and there is no way I would put it out here on someone else's thing so it can be crushed, ignored, or pushed to the side. Move in silence when involved in capitalism. I wish you the best and hope you can get to a better place with your business.

I also had no idea ICmag was started by a seed company.
Then why are they letting people pay to advertise here if they are competion?
Who is the competion that started this forum??

Even on discord you have to be careful, they have become crazy with their rules and lack of privacy aswell.

Best to not use any money signs on there €$£, servers have been shut down lately to kill the underlying markets.

Not saying it doesn't work but you have to be a little careful.

Something else to mention is that all chats are scanned...
I talked with people about certain topics and an hour later on YouTube I got recommendations for Videos about these topics.

I'm not paranoid and I know the algorithm on YouTube very well, they scan the chats on discord.

Something else about Servers on discord in general.

Be careful who you let in.

I was years into the mushroom scene and ended up selecting a handful of people who I trusted and wanted to share genetics with (for free).
One guy got into the server who invited one asshole who fucked up everything, scammed half the server before we noticed and even messed up the whole server.
I trusted these people so much that I left the option for everyone to edit the server, which unfortunately turned out to be naive.

I wish people would look out after each other and not only look for their own gain but it's not going to change in the near future..

Not the new gorilla that changed this whole place ? , not Gypsy the gorilla who took over.

If I'm a paid sponsor I should be able to drop a discount code in the strains and Hybrid section ? , not in other peoples pages of course, but who am I hurting giving out a discount code in the strains and Hybrid section, who's toes am I stepping on when I'm a paid sponsor ? , that coupled with certain mods chasing me around is not worth paying to sponsor here anymore so the Connoisseur Genetics page will have to come to an end after 15 years here, like all the other good pages that used to be here .

Really short on good sponsor pages here these days and all commercial garbage like all other sites now , near none of Original pages left which set this place apart from others , where all the new guys to take over ?

That's what il do , I won't delete my account, icmag.com might , just the Connoisseur Genetics page will be gone from January 1st.
Il still be a member just no page , will just be OJD again and won't post often anymore , but i still have contacts here il try and stay in contact with , as some people only use here or email

@ojd there was a deal there but it didn't worked and icmag never got any money from sale of seeds even at that time. I still said correctly it been years since we had anything to do with any seed seller, more than having them as an advertiser, vendor or boutique breeder. And, to my knowledge there was never any talk or instructions or actions to favour any seller.
It's ok to quit if you aren't happy with advertising here, but there is no point in saying you did not get your money worth, since you stayed with us as a vendor and continued to pay the bills for that. Let's just end this nicely and not add BS or drama.
It seems people think we have something against you, but that is not true, we do not allow self promotion in open forum, not even for advertisers or vendors, and you been told than and warned multiple times about it. The fact that you had your last message deleted without warning after you been talked about this and warned before, to me seems really ok. You knew what you were doing there. I won't even belive that is the reason to leave, since you never been offered or promised the ability to spam outside your subforum.
Just wanted to say what I know about this. I am sorry to see you leave, but I wish you the best.
I won't come back on this unless there is additional need to clarify things.

It's a rule just so that the whole forum stays clean of advertisments, and you can advertise in the vendor/breeder pages. Ofc, nothing stops you from sharing great content all over the forum so people get interestedand want to find out more. Just nothing comercial, like offers and links.

As a humble user I prefer seed sellers to stick to their own forums when it comes to promoting their products. It's a nice simple rule that's easier to mod.

You’re disturbing the posters and readers of the thread by butting in and “marketing” the way you do. I’ve seen @Donaldmallard call you out on this at least once. It ruins the flow of conversation and the vibe between the thread contributors.

I don’t enjoy reading 90% Of your posts (outside of your threads, You have a couple Ok looking strains and you do help people who grow your seeds ) because of your shameless over promotion.
When when called out about it you are totally tone deaf and act entitled like people shouldn’t have a problem about you butting in...... but they do.

I've left multiple forums where I've seen mods and admins be absolute manipulative dipshits, doesn't seem to be the case here, given the deleted thread from yesterday wasn't made by an alt account of one of the team, which I've seen happen multiple times already in other places.

See it starts a fight between vendors to allow to openly post discounts everywhere.

You can still message people privately to offer a discount if it's against the rules to openly post it.


Let's be humane, accept boundaries, not provoke each other and try to get along.
