Yeah I really do think....

What a mess poor little thing. If a six year old figured how to take off they didn't have it secured very good.

The Parents should have to pay for the probably, 100's of thousands that this little fiasco cost Colorado today.

Mmmm-hmmmm. Now it is confirmed to be a publicity stunt, and the people are just dicks.

But you must say, the news likes to shove shit down people's throats, even if in this case it turned out they deserved it.

OK, anybody remember this knuckle head Kent Couch? He tied a lawn
chair to various #'s of huge helium balloons & set sail from Oregon on
three different occasions. Here's a picture of it and Wiki's say so.......

070710_balloonchair_hlrg_12phlarge.jpg

His ultimate goal was to reach Idaho from Oregon

First flight:
Kent's first flight was in September of 2006. The flight was cut short and Kent used his parachute to land safely on the ground below.

Second flight:
Couch, a 48-year-old gas station owner, first flew 193 miles (311 km) in July 2007 riding a lawnchair elevated by 105 large helium balloons. Using amateur instruments to measure altitude and speed, a GPS device to track his location, and 5 gallons (19 litres) of water for ballast, he controlled his ascent by releasing water. The flight began in Bend, Oregon and ended in Union, short of Couch's goal of reaching Idaho.

Couch's flight resembled a flight by Larry Walters, who, in 1982, sat in a lawnchair that unexpectedly rose 3 miles (5 km) off the ground after he cut the rope tethering his lawnchair to the ground.

Third flight
Couch began another flight at dawn on Saturday, July 5, 2008. That afternoon he successfully crossed the desert border, landing near Cambridge, Idaho.

Statistics:

Launch Time: 6:44 am (PDT)
Top Speed: 49 mph (79 km/h)
Average Speed: 26 mph (42 km/h)
Highest Altitude Reached: 16,625 feet (unofficial world record)
Touch Down: 3:56 pm (PDT)
Total Time: 9 hours 12min
Total Miles: 240

this would be so awesome if i owned a parachute.

dude i heard the kid wasnt in the airballoon.

but yea i would totally be down for a lawnchair ride

Yeah S4L That guy is crazy!!!

Well his ideal of multi balloons instead of one kinda makes sense.

A hole in a Hot Air Balloon could suck!!!

I heard an interview with one of the rescue team guys and he said they were just doing their jobs and get paid their salary anyway, so there should be no charge. Really the only extra money spent was by the news networks.
