Huang Chuncai eats in his ward before his second operation to remove his tumours, which currently weigh around 10kg (22lbs), at a hospital in Guangzhou, southern China's Guangdong province, January 5, 2008. Huang, a 32-year-old native from a remote village in China's southern province of Hunan, says he is relieved after a part of his facial tumours, which originally weighed about 23kg (50.7 lbs), was removed last year. His second operation will remove another part of the tumours, which weighs 4.5kg (9.9lbs). I can't imagine what life is like for Huang. Hopefully there's more they can do to help treat his illness or the side-effects. Things like this just plain suck. We should be spreading our medical technology and knowledge to other countries instead of bombs, weapons and cash.

And....when you think the guy in this thread has it bad, check out these people, with "fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva" - a genetic disorder where muscle/tendons/ligaments will turn into bone over time. Crazy. Imagine being stiff as a board, not able to even move. Horrible

^^^ there is someone with that condition round my way....I heard him talking once and he was saying its terrifying going to sleep at night, and not knowing if tomorrow moring i the day when something else has gone solidly stuck in place.... Its terrible, you can see from the skelton pic above, the muscles actually turn into a second skeleton.. Horrendous
The chap in the pic this thread was about, there was a docmentary about him on sky...an english doc helping him..... I cant remember what he aid it was..
there was another about a guy in indonesia, it was called half man half tree, and his hands and feet are completely overgrown with massive warts which have grown over and over on top of each other, his feet and hand look like tree branches, and he has them covering his face and body, its bizzarre, and it must be horrible, apparently smells really bad too...but the guy just gets on with it...sadly he performs in a street "freakshow" called the clan, with some other people who suffer from other conditioons that leave them deformed aswell. He does this to feed his kids
there was one aboyt a little girl in chaina who has the severed allergy to sunlight and that had me in tears...the poor thing thing had no face.....
Its this sort of thing that really makes me have aproblem with the concept of any benevolent god or deity who loves us all
