... because of say, a drug test at work, would you consider taking another drug that was less detectable / easier to get away with?

Personally, i rely on the medicinal (anti-depressant) effects of canna far too much. It's possible that if that was taken away from me that I'd try and find another way of self-medicating which clears out of the system quicker.


Does this make drug-tests themselves a gateway drug to harder substances?

I have not smoked in two and a half months i have not needed to take anything to get me high. Nothing out there can really take the place of marijuana for me. a couple cold beers never hurts though.

i might drink slightly more, and maybe indulge in mushrooms about once a week or so, when they are normally a once every 2-3 month treat for me, just whatever i could do to stay sane for the month or two i needed to clean up to pass the test

Drug testing is an invasion on our rights to privacy, search and seizure, common decency, whatever you wanna call it.

Good luck finding a job that doesn't require pre- employment screening, at the least. If it doesn't, you're prolly working a shite job, or a really great and/or self-employed one. If you want to protest by refusing to submit to one, go ahead. They will just hire someone that will.

Forget about all that "it's biased against pot smokers, because our drug of choice is fat soluble". WAH WAH. Yes it is, and it is unfair. C'est la vie, mes amies. So don't get mad, spend the 60 bucks or whatever it is, invest the 15 minutes in a practice run/experimenting mode, and buy some concentrated synthetic urine online.

I'll save you a few bucks. Unless they're watching you (if they are, should you really be smoking pot on parole?) don't bother with the fake schlong device. Don't buy the kit that comes with the "heaters and temp strip and container". Those are simply: Glove warmers (shake to activate), drug store thermometer strip, and an empty elmers glue bottle, in respective order.

It is an interesting notion you pose about drug testing being a gateway drug. I disagree, however, insofar as I believe man has a free will. There are no gateway drugs, only roads some choose to go down farther than others.

I realize that lying and cheating is less than an honorable way to live one's life. But what do you do when the rules you seek to circumvent are unjust?

This isn't about hard drugs,damn censorship is freaking people out.This is about cannabis and what can happen when it's suddenly taken away.My friend that was caught with a lousy joint of blockhead driving between jobs had his erb priveleges taken away for one year,and the results were not good.He's now a drunk and takes harder drugs though his probation has been over for 6 months.Smart people will have no previous drug experience to fall back on,its not a gateway it's an expressway.Stay out of trouble

D Rock - Beer is such a step down from canna as an experience though. It doesn't do anything good for me personally and doesn't help medicinally. You still crave canna don't you?

Space Ghost - I wasn't asking for recommendations of other drugs or ways of avoiding tests (i live in a country which doesn't do drug testing) - i was asking if an increase in cannabis testing is likely to lead to an increase in use of other more serious drugs. You know, repercussions.

The American - Glad to see someone got the point of the question. I know someone too who smoked heroin, then came off heroin by switching to pot, got caught in a drugs test, and now smokes heroin again because it clears the system faster. He's a shadow of the man he was. Hence the question.

In my opinion absolutely,an I know this from life experience and now from the experience of a friend.If the dangerous drugs stayed in your system for a month or so like the erbal,it would be a non-issue.This isn't the case however,and people tend to make up for their loss in much more self-destructive ways if you know what I mean..If anything should be taken from my comments understand this.This is only an issue if you have previous experience with other addictive substances,it's not an issue at all if you've made wise life choices.So listen to Nancy Reagan kids lol

quitting pot is a good thing to do every now and then...there are times in life when you should experience them with a clean head. I've smoked cannabis for over 35 years....and smoked daily for 20 ~ 25 of them.....but every so often (especially when I'm in Singapore! lol) I take a break. The best thing about stopping smoking is that first joint you smoke after a week, month or several months off is incredible....there's nothing like having zero tolerance to THC to really feel the full effects! I appreciate that first joint more than a 100 joints when my tolerance is at Rasta levels

I personally don't think anything can take the place of cannabis in my diet, as I use it for a variety of effects. But if I have to go long periods without it I find myself taking something else for my anxiety.
