What were we talking about?

I'm 55 and I picked 55.

Why, when I could pick any age?!?

Because my life is so pleasing to me right now. I think I am the most contented I've ever been.

Plus, I can tell all you other folks to "get the hell off my lawn, dang it!"

first of all, the poll question has to pertain to both physical AND mental age, otherwise the answer is pretty automatic: whatever age is deemed to be best for physical abilities, somewhere around age 20 I would guess. Using only physical ability as a factor dismisses what we learn as we age and experience life as being not important. Only younger folks who haven't had the chance to live and learn over the years would dismiss this as unimportant; you can't know what you just don't know. There is an unavoidable ignorance in this situation.

I chose the age group of 38-43. My reason for choosing this age is two: one, generally speaking, the testosterone levels in men are still quite strong and therefor the body's muscles tend to maintain a good level of strength and fitness without having to add in regular exercise. Get much past this age, testosterone levels start to drop and the body will begin to atrophy at a much greater rate, basically requiring an exercise program with weight training to remain strong and vital (discovered this through experience), and 2, by the age of 38-43 you have lived a decent length of time as an ADULT and developed a bit of wisdom that helps you traverse and understand the world around you.

Its gotta be a balance of physical strength/ability and wisdom. If only we could find a way combine both! Oh yeah....wasn't that what the Fountain Of Youth was all about?

I think most members on this forum are likely mid 30's or younger, and as stated above, people in this age group really can't understand the value of life experience (beyond your age) and how it informs you (wisdom) and benefits you. I just turned 55, and I continue to learn about life and all its intricacies with each day. I go to the gym regularly to keep my muscle mass strong (but HOLY SHIT, can't do what I could do when I was 30), and get wiser as the years go by.

23. I'm 40 this year. Sorry Wiggs but my "adult" years, have taught me that the world sucks. Plus after 25+ years of laborious work, I'm a half broken shell of my former self.

Spend your health for wealth when you're young.
Spend your wealth for health when you're old.

Read that once and chuckled quietly to myself.

I'll go with 24-26, got it together without the
awkwardness of youth, and keep it that way
to avoid the drooling dotage of old age.

But surely there would be a price to pay, right?
What would you give up about your life to have this?
That thread would be very interesting as well.

What a fucked up but awesome question. Too hard to choose, but somewhere between 18-28. Life was pretty chill at 18. Not a care in the world as long as I had money for rent and food, beer, cigarettes, weed, and a party to go to.

I definitely agree with who ever pointed out you really start to mature around 25. I used to say I made my last mistake at 25 for several years, but I now stand corrected.

I was just wondering if anyone will vote 0-2 and bust out laughing. Who the fuck would want that, lol?
The past can fuck with you if you don't let it be sometimes, and also really bring you joy from special memories.

I hadn't thought about the question in that way...there is no doubt that the world/life frequently seems better in the younger years. That isn't true for all, but for many it is.

I feel your pain Fire...although I feel wiser in my advanced years, I also feel that much in the world sucks, and it does take its toll. Shit....can I change my answer?

Ignorance can truly be bliss.....

There should be two votes... The age you want to be and the age you want your mate to be!

I would be 45 and a mate that is 30. That is the perfect ratio and in their 30s you find some of the most sexually depraved females, they know they are human beings at that age, and they can still be hot.

I picked 21-23, just out of the service and looking for a good time back in the world. Sure wish I had a good job but fug it what are you going to do? And I meet my wife at 23.

if i got to "know what i know now" and mrs. green gets the same deal/to come with me i would go for around 30

it might sound goofy but if the deal was solo i would honestly have to pass. i kinda like life the way things have worked out even though the "rust" is getting to be a PITA when you try to keep up with the grandkids.

like someone else said, it isn't an option to vote for body vs mind, if it were I'd prefer the more mature mind and the young body. Since that isn't an option, I'd opt for being young again and gladly making mistakes over all these health issues!

15-17

Back then, I had a laser like focus. A young man on a mission. All other issues were subordinated to that mission.
I learned that valuable lesson that perseverance will win out in the end over failure and success is merely a numbers game.

"Let's get naked."

In retrospect, a blunt force problem solving approach worked surprisingly well.
Much less so now.
