Ideal PH for soil

Sorry for the post title, I screwed that up. I'm looking for ideal *water* Ph.

I've seen this answered in several different places with different answers, but none that are definitive.

What is the ideal water PH? Does the stage of growth matter? If water PH should be adjusted, how should this be stepped up/down over time?

Thanks and best,
FV

and here is a chart for what a plant intakes at different ph's

i agree with nugmaster, i never PH my water. roots have the ability to correct pH themselves. unless the media is made up of 100% peat, there is no need to worry over water pH.

i dissagree about no checking ph. we have water PH 8-8.5 so we must check ph every time
i have lived in many different places... with a variety of water qualities... all i do is let my water sit out for 24 w/ out a lid... then water away... no need to stress over ph... if your ladies don't look good... it more then likely is due to some other factor...not your ph levels...

By RjStoners ph chart and the one I have which varies slightly from his, the macro-nutrients like N-P-K and Ca & Mg uptake is better with higher PH-like 6.5-7.0, but for the micro-nutrients, a slighly lower PH 6.2-6.5 is better for greater uptake of those nutes, like iron and manganese.

Ya ur both right, ur ph plays a huge role if u have a soil that dosent drain properly, but if u have good soil u can go up to 9.0 ph water with no problems.. at least that's what I have seen, but if ur ph is higher then 8.0 in your water u have more minerals then u want... lows and the depot sell one sink R.O systems for under $200.... maybe for u to drink out of and ur girls....

PH affects how much available nutrient uptake will take place, along with the proper amount of water & food, Co2, temperature and light.
