Ice Cream (Paradise Seeds) New

Just my 2 cents but...I recently got a cutting of Ice Cream which I had passed around a couple years ago. One grower said he had a hard time keeping her in veg. and the other found it to be slow and yielded poorly indoor, but did well outdoor in our northerly climate. That being said both growers had cool vegging rooms with 400 MH and plants on the floor (cold root zone). One also had a very compact media...Once I received these plants I placed them under 1000w mh and still found growth to be slow, that's when I discovered the dense medium, so I transplanted them to a Pro Mix BX with 10 to 20% coco coir added.
That's when they took off! So I placed them in the budding room which has two 600 and a far warmer room temp.
So if you have read Luc's description in the big book of buds 3...its all in there! Keep the roots warm and lights tight, and the medium loose.
PS. well grown the yields won't dissapoint :)

Thanks for the advice.

400w CMH. Temps 85 lights on, 72 off. >20% humidity.

LC#1 mix using peat and added pumice, and Axis Regular instead of perlite. I think that might be part of the problem. Once watered, that peat moss packs down. Not a light mix.

Anyone pick up any Ice Cream seeds lately. I'm thinking about grabbing and putting aside another 1 or 2 of the packs. I really miss that incredible special pheno, it's definitely in there =P 1 pack should find it, but I think 2 would guarantee it.

Just curious if anyone else has grown out Ice Cream or plans to in the future - keep us in the loop with your Ice Cream projects =]

Great thread bi0hazard. I have to say that your review on ice cream made my mouth water, but unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on any beans. As luck would have it,on a trip to Montreal, I stopped into a head shop and low and behold, I found some.

I use hempy buckets and am currently two weeks into veg. I found one pheno so far growing quickly and have just started lst on it. The other one is squat but very healthy with very short node spacing. They seem to like the hempy method using perlite and vermiculite.

I want to top the shorty, but not sure how it responds. Any tips on this or nutes would be appreciated.

I am new to this Site, but not a noobee, I will try to post some pics as I go along.

Thanks in advance

Ic responds well to lst toping and scrog IME

Thanks jm420. I like how the one that's trained is responding. Shorty is only a foot tall but is getting really bushy. I can imagine how bushy it'll get when I top it. I'm not sure if it's stunted. But other than the height, it's very healthy. I'm hoping it's just the pheno.

Just wanted to give you a quick update on the progress of my ice cream ladies. I'm at four weeks flowering and I'm pleased with the progress so far.

My short girl has grown to a little over three feet, with lots of nice looking buds already getting frosty.

The other one is more sativa dominant, I think. She really stretched and tried to take over my little grow room. I managed to contain her, and she seems to be doing fine.

I think I'm going to lst her offspring more to keep them shorter and more controllable.

There is a definite diesel smell to them. Can't Wait till they're ready.
I will update you just before harvest time to show how they're finishing.

Peace

One week till harvest. The smell has changed to a more vanilla candy aroma. The buds are rock hard and full of crystals. The sativa dominant pheno is still a few weeks away. I trained her longer in veg and have her in a scrog setup. I will get a few pix when she's closer to finishing.

Here is shorty. She ended up three feet tall. Nice size for my setup. I think this is a good candidate for a sog grow

Harvest Day for IceCream

Harvest Day for IceCream

Day 57

Today looks like a good day to harvest. The buds have swollen as much as they can. The trikes are mostly milky, and the pistols have all changed colors. Oh and it smells soo delicious. Here's a few pics. I will be back after cure to see how it all turned out.

Peace

Thank you mates. I'm happy how she turned out.

The dry weight on the little lady was a little over 2 1/4 ozs.

Naturally I have smoked some of the smaller buds, while I let the colas cure some more. The initial taste is creamy vanilla, followed by a definite pine taste

It has a strong high, I am able to function well, but in a nice relaxed state.

The sativa pheno has been harvested and is currently drying. I will give you my impression of her when she is cured.

Peace
