I see in your 949img-1135 picture that you have at least 4 - 5gallon buckets on the left. Is that where you "cure/dry your buds or do a bubblehash run or what :D

I love me hash and would love to see some pictures of some if you did a run with all your trim.

SQ- WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW 1 for each L!!!!!!! Can you take a picture of the bottom of the top bucket. I want to see what kind of holes it has

ninja_pimp - Kryptonite has an incredible thread on building your own multiflow including the controller. http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=6341

The 2 gallon buckets are at home depot. There is nothing special about the ones you buy except for the holes. Someone posted here about discount-hydo having them. They are just 2 gallon white buckets that they hand drill. The original multiflow buckets are special made in asia.

Nice link Billbob, if anyone can't look at SQ's set up and that link (HOG's will be a great addition also) and not build a hydro system, man, I don't what to say, I am going to build that controller asap. It looks good for the E&F but I like the drip method. Something will have to compromise. Props again to SQ.

billbob.......The two gallon buckets come with the multi-flow system.. SoQuick uses 2 gallon pots. They are different. The pots are more tall then wide. The multiflow is good for growing trees or smaller bushes. SoQiuck goes right to flower with flower nutes right from clone. Kryptonite has the killer link to make a controller bucket and I have a link out there on making the multi-flow system.

But hey guys...I just found out somethin about what I've been doin the past few days...first off lemme tell you guys where I'm at...
<...snip>
Oh yea, I learned that what I'm doin is called wardriving!! Seems that alot of folks have been doin this for awhile now and they even sell certain gadgets to help pick up stronger connections while driving...aint that kewl!! And it isn't illegal, as long as you turn off the TCP IP or somethin like that...I need to do some more reading on this subject and I'll tell you guys more, but if anybody out there knows about this wardriving, then please post!!

<...snip>

Well guys...gotta cruise!! I'll pop in again later this evening...see ya on another connection :)

SQ

SQ,

Awesome grow... I love to wardrive, and shop for new houses here in FL... always a great way to pass the time...

I have been wardriving for a few months now... have found that the best places, with the best resources lives at
NetStumbler
you may wanna take note that they are dedicated to finding the open AP's, and they do not condone using them... just keep it to yourself when you *do* post from an AP. They are a great group there... have fun... grow big.

Hi SQ, u know what u said about the "Wardriving" wireless net connection thing, the other half of it is known as war-chalking, where persons use chalk to mark spots where u hace strong signal, the mark a symbol on the pavement or wall, a couple o diff symbols mean diff things, Soon, no1 will need to pay for intenet.
Ur grow has me drooling, I been batting ideas round for when i move, i already got a home made mult-flow sitting in the shed waiting, lol, did it ala HOG's thread with 3.5 gal inside 3.5 gal buckets, havent managed the controller yet, still strugglin o find uk p[arts for it, but ill get there in the end. Im gonna have to do one of these now tho too, i bee3n looking at the best way to use the flower space im in ATM, When i move ill be setting up a totally new grow, but this 1 will stay so my friend can learn to look after it and set himself up so he dont need me anymore, and this would be great, abviously smaller coz this room aint so big, bit ill get summat going.
That link to discount hydro, do u guys think, that i could use one of the controllers intended for the rainforests to top off a few DWC???

Thanks for the link Pepin  I stumbled across that forum last week and been doin a lil reading...still a lil confused about all the lil gadgets to get, but I'm sure I'll pick it up

You have mail Harry

Hello and Thanks BG

billbob: Thanks and here ya go!!

Inside look at the top bucket

Bottom view of the top sleeve

and here's a shot of the bottom bucket...that grommet is where the 1/2" tee is push thru for the drain line

Hey there Hash...those 5 gal buckets that are lined up, is where my mixing takes place at...I like to have a few on hand to speed up the process  I didn't make a bubble run this time around..got a lil lazy, but I'll probably do one on the next run depending on how I feel...and when I do, I'll post a big softball sized hash ball just for you :friends:

Thanks King and BG

So Quick

A few shots for you guys...

Finally had enough clips to begin the next cycle...soon this process will be happenin every 2 weeks...4 rows, then 3 rows, then 4 rows, then 3...makes it so much manageble this way, instead of settin up the whole room and then croppin the whole room when it's time...cuttings are rooting for the next 3 lines to the right and will be 2 weeks behind...and if you noticed the black tarp covering the 3 lines, well I put that on there so no algea grows in those buckets while their waiting to be occupied..

The left side is nearly ready to chop down...

And a shot of the 4 lines that just went down

That's my time guys...happy Holidays to everybody!!

SoQuick was kind enough to answer me some questions I had and with that I was on my way...I hope its okay to continue on this thread as I've head copying someone is the sincerest form of flattery. Using the knowledge that SQ has passed on in this thread I've decided to try and replicate it as best as possible, hoping to double my yield.
After comparing my setup to SoQuick's I realized I was wasting my space and since space is very very precious to me I decided I should redo my grow rooms.
floor_layout.jpg

Frankly, the deeper I get into this hydro stuff the better I get at it. I downloaded some software to help me out with the task ahead of me, hoping it would make things easier, I'm one of those ppl who can only achive something if he can see it. I'm good with computers and some 3d stuff. First I started with Autodesk Autosketch 8.0 which lets me design a room to specific measurements. I enter the dimensions of my grow rooms then add specific objects like buckets and lights in exact measurement. This allows me to see if I actually do have enough room to put all the materials together and to see what it would look like before I spend any money. I am super happy to be doing this as I now realize I can pack so much more into my space, each light was feeding 9 buckets. I made the mistake of reading the instructions that came with the multiflow and they suggested making a 1 to 2 foot gap between each bucket. After looking at SoQuicks setup, it dawned on me that the extra space was silly. A huge thanks goes to 70's pothead for showing me that thread, its awesome.

one-6.3x6.3-setup-b.jpg

Once I know everything will fit I then model my setup. so I open up vue d'esprit and layout a base model. I plan to use a 3x3 foot print, I have 4 lights so that means I'll be using 6.3x6.3' of actual floor space. I've decided to stay with 4 lights for now and then add 2 more later on. This means I'll be able to place 64 buckets. These are multiflow buckets I'll be using and they are 9.5" wide so that means I can fit 4x4 buckets per light and each light sits 3.3' from the next one, hence each light gets 4 buckets dead center and then I surround those with 12 buckets. One could save a bundle of cash, 6 extra multiflow buckets cost $59, the way i see it, its $5 for the outer and $5 for the inner, they come with tubing, grommets int he holes so I considered it a good value. I could do the buckets myself but I just don't trust my handy skills to drill thru 64 buckets patiently.

6.3x6.3-garden.jpg

The idea was to make rows of planks on wheels so when the time comes I could easily move several rows at a time to make it easy for me to empty the buckets or just get at them. Above is a single 3x3 layout and with that one I can add 3 more which gives me 64 buckets total and is 64 buckets yields an avg of 2oz, I expect to get near 8 ½ lbs. Below is the projected laytout in 3d, small correction, the planks of wood will actually be 6.3 long, in that picture they are only 3.15’ long.

Now that my specs are laid out, with a 3d model and floor space is accurate I’m ready to go shopping. I went to home depot and almost found everything I needed. I could not find any 2gal buckets at home depot or any hardware store so I was forced to use multiflow buckets. nor could I find 1/2" grommets anywhere??

parts needed:
raindrip 1/4" T barb connectors, they came in packs of 25, about $5.00
150' of 1/4 vinyl tubing, each 50’ sold for about $5.00
raindrip 8 - 1/2" tubing cut offs, The come in packs of 6 for about $3.00
wood: 9.3" wide and 6.3' long, 8 planks, each wood cost me $6.94 and I needed 7 of these which were then cut to exact size of 371/2 inches
wood stands, 16 - 12" wood planks to fit on ends of the 6.3" planks I need 2 planks and had them cut to 12” cunks lengthwise
1/2" vinyl tubing, which comes with the multiflow buckets
a hole puncher for the 1/4" ducting lines, $9.95
32 L brackets: holds wood planks to wood stands about 0.20 ea
32 2" casters, these went for about $2.50
Bag of 100 Tie wraps, $10.00
in total I spent about $220 on supplies, not counting the buckets....
64 buckets goes for about $600
Green air cycle stat timer $90
bought a 1200gph pump, little giant submersible pump for $112, do a yahoo search for 1200gph and its the first one.
bought a 45 gal rubbermaid reservoir, cost was $14 at walmart

project08.jpg

A hole puncher is a must, this makes holes for the ¼” drip line to go intot he ½” feed line. Tie wraps will fasten the feed lines to the drain lines. The ¼” drip stakes will hold the ¼” drip lines in place, I opted to do this rather than drill holes in 64 buckets. ¼” barbs are needed to connect the ¼” drip lines to the ½” feed line. All this found at home depot, very cheap. I started off looking for some stuff at a small hardware store and they wanted to rape me on the barb connectors, so I recommend starting at a large hardware store.

project01.jpg

Here are the multiflow buckets, the are of high quality, 91/2” wide at the top and 8” wide at the bottom and are 11” tall, 16 buckets fit perfectly on a plank of wood that is 6.3’ feet long.

project02.jpg

I started with the drip lines and cut segments of 18 inches I think, you might want to experiment with the length as it might vary to your taste

project03.jpg

I laid the buckets on the planks of wood and measured the distance which was about 8.5” from bucket to bucket and began cutting the drain lines to measurement.

project04.jpg

I hate this part, the ¼” drip tubing was so strong that I had to push real hard to make the barb connector fit. It’s a perfect fit, its just the tubing is hard plastic and my fingers were ruined after a few minutes of doing this.

project06.jpg

Once my fingers were busted from previous job I’d take a bring and switch tasks. Got time? This will take a while and its tedious work, but you must do it. Connect the ¼” tubing with the barb connector to the ½” tubing where you made holes for the ¼” drip line. I measured the distance for each one, made sure there was a hole and pushed in a 1/4?” drip line. I sat on my couch watching tv as I did this 64 times!

project07.jpg

The planks came out real nice and were easy to build, they just took me a few hours to do, basically it’s a plank that 6.3 feet long and on each end I attach with L brackets a 12” chunk of wood and add wheels, this will serve as the base to stand with and allow it to roll freely on the floor.

project09.jpg

My current grow #10 is about 1 or 2 days away from being completed, so I can’t layout the planks just yet, but I can’t wait to implement this new setup. I also have to wait for the new buckets to arrive, takes about 7 days via UPS

project10.jpg

well this is where i'm at so far.
I have to wait for my current crop to finish and once my new buckets arrive I can put everything in place, then I post new pictures to show progress and eventually the end result at harvest.
a special thanks to botanygrow and Soquick for the help on my questions.
and happy new year to everyone else.

here is an update so far...

grow11_veg_01.JPG

the planks are all done and in place. each plank sits about 12" high from the floor. each planks has it set of wheels so i can roll the plank if I need to. I don't plan to but just in case.

grow11_veg_05.JPG

the lights were re-aligned, but because there is a fan in the middle i could only place them 3.6 feet from each other, technically it should be 3.3ft. hopefully this won't affect anything. The big benefit is there is a fan int he middle to circulate air and help keep the refelctors cool, however they don't get too hot, i can actually place my hand on them.

project06.jpg

I have stoked up on hydroton, for this grow I decided to try clay pebbles instead. I have a theory. before I was using rw growcubes made by grodan and they work well however the initial stage where you put the clones int he buckets, would stress because the buckets would flood and the rw media would soak up so much water, that the clones end up gettign water logged which caused stress and would stunt them. so with a drip and clay pebbles I should be able to give them a proper dose of nutrients without waterlogging them and since the clay pebbles dry up say after 30min the clones will want more food, and this is a good thing. each 50L bag fills up 7 buckets so I estimate I need 7 of these bags.

project04.jpg

I recommend starting with empty buckets, i know its tempting to fill them up, but line up your buckets first, then connect the T connectors to them, then for the drain line get some soft 1/2" tubing and measure out each length and cut with a scissor this way you know the segment of tube between each bucket will fit. dip the ends of the tubing in soapy water and they will slide right into the connectors. notice on the end there is an endcap, this simply bend the tubing in half so water stops. each row gets its own endcap.

project02.jpg

i ran into a small problem. with all the buckets filled, the hydroton sure added weight and the planks because they are not really 6 feet long, 2 planks make 6 feet, i could not fit a whole 6 foot plank in my car. so i cut them in half and used mending plates to put them back together. there was dipping in the centre so to patch it I got 5 gal buckets, $4 a piece and slid them under the planks, 2 at a time and they back to perfect height. easy fix, but later on I'll replace the planks or figure something out. The drain lines are now run from bucket to bucket, the feed line is in place and tied down with tie wraps. the drip lines are now plugged into the 1/2" tubing.

project01.jpg

the drip lines might give me a headache cuz they so fiber like, but for now i rammed them into the bucket, which will hold them in place. i bought 1/4" tubing stakes but they suck hard. so i'll have to think of a way to secure the tubing, ideally i want to see each drip line spray onto the top rather than hide the tubing in the clay pebbles.

project05.jpg

its coming together, 2 rows complete, 6 more to go. I'm sorta short on buckets, but any day more will arrive. the rows line up well, support is good, so far all is going good. i'll post more pictures when i get the whole thing done.

70's pothead - after seeing SQ's setup I am convinced I can double my output.
the main cost was more buckets, hydroton, water pump, timer and materials to build the planks and such. so I estimate about $700 total. well worth it as 1lb of green goes for $5200 here.
I'm super excited about grow #11, slight problem with my mothers and cloning problem but once thats fixed i should be able to have 64 clones and i'm hoping they all take off as in the past i get uneven height growth due to them being stunted when i transplant them into the buckets with rockwool which is why I'm switching to hydroton.

a huge thanks to SQ for sharing his setup info :) I've learnt alot and hope I can pass this info onto others.

nice set up ninja, good luck with it even though I don't think you need luck. Glad that you are keeping this thread going.

SQ, did you get my PM on OG?
