@OvergrowDaWorld: if you're refering to dr.penthotal, he couldn't vote his own entrys as nobody was able to. the script discarded your vote if you tried to vote your own entry.

to everbody who's not happy with the results:
the judges tried to be as honest and just as possible. so if e.g. the glue didnt win the cup, it maybe means that the cut or the entry was just not as good as something else. try to cope with this possibility. ;)

Most of the herbal Cannabis sure looks better then the hash was.
Maybe I need to give up hash and go back to bud???

Oh and according to the tests done by TLA, 30 and 32 were the highest in THC.
If you can believe the tests is a different issue.
-SamS

all that read the testing result thread now understand there is some doubts to the method used, but from what i have read on this subject recently seems to indicate that at least the thc value should be inside of a 2% +/- limit. so even though thc isn't everything, we can safely say that 30 and 32 had the highest level of thc of the tested samples, or would you not even go that far?

after all they did all the tests so one would hope used the same steps for every test, so you'd think for comparison to other tested samples one should be able to say which had the most thc, even from this simple test? or not?

All it takes is one person to score a plant with 5's across the board, and the best plant finishes 2nd or 3rd.
I feel its unfair for him to be able to score his own meds and another competitors meds.
Thats like an Olympian scoring his/her own runs.
Why werent other competitors able to score there own and his?
This needs to be addressed and amended in the rules.

we do have a system in place that stops entering judges from voting on their own entries. in the end no entering judge was able to vote on the entry they entered.

we also have a script that looks for outliers in the votes. scores that make no sense for one reason or another, they get flagged and are looked at by staff to decide whether it's a genuine consistently hard to please judge, or what ever. if it's clear they are trying to vote in a tactical way, those votes are discarded. as the winners are decided by their average score it makes no difference how many end up voting for a particular entry. but yeah i guess there is always a way to cheat if you really want to, we do our best to make it as hard as possible. also remember those votes are up there and can be looked at. with this cup no one is able to buy lots of judge passes and then have lots of friend vote a certain way, as we limit the packs to max 1 of each entry per member.

It's hard to judge multiple strains if it's not the first high of the day and your smoking more than 5 strains imho. Hard to judge strain 1 and strain 10 with the same scrutinity, because by number 5 at that point your wasted.

When I judge, the first effects after 2 hits and then 30 minutes to an hour later before additional is smoked, notes are written, so multiple impressions can judge the effects. Is it a creeper? Flavor and smell when broken apart. ect. Did it floor me after 30 minutes? Am I still high? And a few other things. So take the results with a grain of salt. They all were probably great.

Would like to hear if anyone tried the samples later that found specific effects when judged in that manner. First high of the day judging for the win.

Just my 2 cents.

I judged every sample the way I would smoke it and enjoy it in my daily life.
The score is a result of what I like, and not necessarily everyone else, we all like different things, and look for different highs, flavors etc..The result prove this.

All the best

Appearance taste and bouquet should be straightforward , potency is going to be a little more subjective.
If everyone tries them in a different order it should even things out , and discard the highest and lowest score for a statistically better average , as with wine tasting.

you are right on that! but that only counts for the potency.
everything else (taste, smell, appearance) isnt disadvantaged imho if you have enough time, proper light and good fresh air. :)

btw: i smoked the last bit of the og x mango haze yesterday.
it's potent but not strong enough. i still give it a 7 like i did at the cup.

I usually think most of what you say is complete hose shit but I do agree with you here. I really think throwing out the high and low for each category would definitely help even out the scoring procedure.

I usually think most of what you say is mindless conspiracy theory , at least we can agree on something.

i'd have to count them to be exact, but there were some 45 to maximum 50 peeps judging various categories. some judge everything and some judged less. i will soon be checking to see if all the judges who got a pack, actually did their duty and scored their entries. as there was people doing without, so we can't really keep reserving packs for people who then don't judge what they got.

I 'am surprised that both the GG#4 and the OGM got rated as the worst looking by a few.. We all know One mans gold is another's shit.

EDIT: I'm also not starting anything just seemed odd to me.

With no desire to start anything, there are some things that just don't add up, and I'd be thankful to anyone that could help me understand:

- No judge can vote for his own entry, yet there's an unknown entry. How do we know that the person entering, didn't vote for his own entry?

- "Winners are decided by average scores" but how can we know average scores without knowing the total number of judges? Is there a way of calculating average without knowing the total of judges?b

- Not all judges voted. Anyone who judges should vote, otherwise, what's the point? As discussed in the rules of previous cups, those that judge but do not vote should not be given an opportunity to vote the next year, so please Gaius, name and shame!

Other than that, great party, good to see many folks, meet some new ones, but that bit is clear to me

look at the votes for that particular entry, I don't think any are very high.

It say's how many voted for each sample

Maybe some had technical problems or access to internet issues.

Yes it seems some of the missing votes were due to the computer system. Mack10 for 1 told me he tried to vote on my sample but the system wouldn't let him.
