I’m thinking bout donating some GDP (granddaddy purple) x TGU (the great unknown, a clone-only strain my friends been working with for several seasons outdoors that his friend got originally labeled purple urkle so they basically where gifted a tray of miss-labeled cuts) they proved their ground season to season. I decided to run a cycle outdoors this spring to get some beans and was using this male I found while cutting up a spiff from a TGU bud last fall. This could of been a random pollination but the resulting 100% male plant resembled the TGU clones even after I cloned it to keep it small and available for spring once frost lifts.
I’ve got TGU x masterkush from California bean bank, TGU x Maui from northern Cali -clone-only/finishes purple and productive. TGU x TGU not very many of those so I’m leaning towards the GDP cross that yielded hundreds of tiger striped beans -I’m starting 4 right now to get a clone from hopefully.
I’m skeptical of sending in this cause the TGU, it’s a proven outdoor producer and its not a bad name just not much behind it. So far the sprouts are looking like GDP but with wider leafs like TGU, which is a vigorous indicia that’s got sugarcane like floral/hash aroma. If theirs an auction for unknown variety but proven stock then ill donate (I grew the clone last year and again this year, my partner has had it for 4 seasons or something) these are clone only stock I found 1 seed in over 3 1/2lb's outdoors. I was surprised and germinated it right away, before I started rolling the spiff even. TGU is very productive, I had the goal of improving the yield of GDP with this cross my only problem is that TGU is a green monster and would counter the purpling of GDP's genetics.
I just put the clones out transplanted to 5 gal pots which they grew threw and into the ground, I used the same dirt I used for my veggies in grow bags -the liquid fertilizer was 1 gallon of ageold bloom and 1 quart of ageold liquid kelp to provide better nutrient from sprouts, i know the seeds store food for the young plants so i wanted the right nutreints fro proper germination (at first it was 100:1 threw my Young-M/P mixer and hose/wand sprayer, then as I dedicated that to grow fertilizer for my may10 transplants I started 1oz per gallon until I chopped them down, I intended on giving the seeds as much nutrient is I could feeding up until harvest. I also took advantage of the shade as they wanted to re-veg but kept on growing threw May/June, I had a spring crop the last season but that basically was me putting my whole indoor crop of 10-11 plants in 5 gallons out half way threw their cycle and as soon as the frost lifted -ill try a spring crop next season too. im sure theas didnt want to finish like the others because they where put out later and the others where more developed when i desided to put more TGU out.
These TGU clones had the most potential to re-veg so they where singled out and even and some seeds left on it to finish.
is it cool?
