I want to move to California thread!

Hello, this is my first post here. There are so many members so I look forward to the wealth of information. I have a small grow for 3 years now but I hate the laws here in Florida so I want to move to Cali!! Anyone living there now have any suggestions on counties/cities? I prefer less traffic (haha right?) and no snow! I would like to live within 20-30 mins of a city. I have been looking at Santa Rosa, San Diego all over really, Craigslist is great!!
I want to get a med recommendation from a clinic and grow my 6 plants in peace :jump: Where would you live if you could live anywhere. I make about 50K per year this seems to be a common question when recommending a place. Thanks new friends!!

Depends on what kind of employment you are looking for. If you are free to choose location independent of employment, look into Santa Cruz.

You are much better off where you are, trust me. Everyone in Cali is work'n to get out. It's awful here and the place just plain stinks. Pass the word, tell everyone you know "Don't Move To California". This is some very valuable inside info. Good luck friend.

I was being facetious. Just way too crowded, in LA for sure... But truthfully, to a certain degree, it's the truth. Other than over crowded it's get'n way too expensive. Gangs and crime are worse every year and laws, other than Marijuana, are get'n more and more stringed. Following suit with the entire country in a lot of aspects but magnified to a degree. The weather and natural environment are something to experience for sure. The traffic, cops, gangs and crime can make a local a little weary. I imagine move'n into it all your own personal experience could take you in a positive or negative direction. More chance for negative here, I guess that's what I was get'n at. Peace...........RD

Thanks for the feedback so far guys!! I appreciate the warnings RD. Currently I am in design/sales for a landscaping/remodel company and would like to be a sales rep for a construction/landscaping some type of home remodeling etc... I am looking around Santa Cruz per suggetions and seems very nice. I love the beach!

santa rosa isnt that bad about an hour and 15 mins from san francisco and oakland so good clones are easy to find at clubs .you can find a 2 bedroom apartment for about 1300 average which in the bay area is very cheap.theres also alot of homes for rent in that area .it gets warm there in summertime and gets alot of rain in winter .and if you dont mind commuting theres lots of employment opportunities in the bay area. other areas to consider in cali are sacramento, stockton , modesto , inland empire in socal .i suggest these areas not because there nice but because there cheap and relatively close to san francisco the inland empire is close to los angeles .there cheaper to live then living in or near san fran or los angeles and are all about an hour and a half from l.a. or s.f.. you were on the right track with santa rosa much nicer then the other cities i mentioned.

So many people have come out to NorCal thinking that it is easy to set something up. Landlords all know at this point. Good luck arranging a place where one does not have to look over ones' shoulder all the time.

There was a rental I called on, and the Landlord asked me full on if I was planning on growing weed, I said that " I would be doing a medical Grow, in compliance." She said thanks for being honest, but no thanks..... She claimed that since 5 hours ago, when the ad broke, she had received 75 calls, of which 73 were from Out-of-state people who thought it was OK to say, "Yes, I am coming out to grow MJ."

Not.

Now, it is more challenging for locals to find a place, because of all the people mentioned above. Leases have been amended to state "NO GROWING." These days.

The prices are going down, and the pressure from Law Enforcement is increasing. Clubs are being closed down and not replaced.

The political climate is not as good as High Times would have you think. It is much more sketchy. Then there is the ripoffs and Tweakers....

6 Flowering Plants is the limit in High Times Favorite County.... Yup, SIX....

I would wait for a less anarchic state to normalize Medical growing, and go there. One that does not make it impossible to proceed. As far as I know, there is not a state like that yet....

I live elsewhere, but have ties to the "Ol' Mitten."

It's great that Michigan had an 83% to 17% victory in votes for Medical Marijuana, and it sux that the "Decision-Makers" are going above the voters' heads, and making it jump-thru-a-million-hoops to get it done... Hopefully, they will back off, and realize that. They are trying to fight ALL recreational use... Good luck. Michiganders like their Pot....

Depends on what kind of employment you are looking for. If you are free to choose location independent of employment, look into Santa Cruz.

I'd second that. Although work is scarce around here...It's either 10% or 15% of the entire county of Santa Cruz (sc, soquel, capitola, aptos, watsonville, etc) is unemployed due to economy+lay-offs. That's around 24,000 people that are un-employed :fsu: in the county. But if you got a steady line of work, then come on down :joint: .

What's the medical situation like in Sacramento?

I agree that it would not be the most beautiful place to live in Cali--been there a few times and fell in love with Big Sur and Santa Cruz. However, I'm realistic about owning a home there, so I'll just have to dream.

That said, my future MIL would love for us to move to Elk Grove (suburb of Sac.) so she could be close to her grandkids. She would love it so much she's willing to help in the buying a house.

Any Sacramento area folks with input?

Riverside County is one of only a few counties in California that will issue a state Medical Marijuana card.

I Agree with you purple_trees, California in my opinion is overcrowded but hey its really safe in some parts, but there's always traffic in California because its overcrowded, Cultivating otherwise its safe and secure in inland empire.:yeahthats

CA Realities... Sorry for the grumpiness....

CA Realities... Sorry for the grumpiness....

Did you know that:

Cultivating in one of the Emerald Triangle Counties has been drawn back to 6 legal flowering plants..... 7 constitutes a felony. People are getting busted of late. Medical growers.

Trying to keep it real for all of you who are considering calling your landlord to give notice....

CA landlords are not fooled anymore. 99.9% arenot amenable to growing in their rentals. If you buy your own house (Amazingly expensive, even with the lower Real Estate Prices of late), it is possible, I suppose. Don;t piss off your Redneck neighbors at all, though, because one complaint is NOW enough to get a visit.

This is the real story. Thanks go out to the Oldsters of this boondocks county...Also to the TV program, Marijuana, Inc. for this enviornment increasingly hostile to growers..
