this may look different but the concept is the same. The big red tub on the left is mounted higher then the rez its full of freshwater. ok this container has a hole drilled near the bottom and a fitting is mounted thru this hole & siliconed. now a hose runs down from this fitting to the top of the float valve. OK the red float at the bottom rises & falls depending on the water level it blocks the hole where the water enters at the top.
My bad if you already know this just not sure

OK now your talking chemistry! I'm strictly into the construction engineering field! LOL! To be honest I got lost reading bio bucket section chemistry. I think you nailed it by testing with the ppm meter. It can't be all that complicated!

just make an aquarium auto top off

just make an aquarium auto top off

hey,

wouldn't this work the same been kinda thinking about going this way to top off my rez.

aquarium auto top off

but in stead of using the fish tank hook it up to the control bucket and the rez.

after i get the hang of hydro with my aeroflo2 im thinking about switch up to the ebb & flow. been kinda checking out this idea.

ebb & flow controller idea

but for now im gonna sit back and watch. :lurk:

The Ebb and flow bucket setup is on this very site if you guys look around. Look up Krypto's bucket controller. It's an almost exact copy of the commercial version for alot less money.
Now, as far as I can tell, auto-topping any ebb&flow setup has got me confused. The main res is constantly going up and down, so how do you autotop that.
IF you have a res that slowly goes down with water usage, go get a common swamp cooler float valve. They are at every hardware store around right now.

Livewire, I think the electrical float switch would work fine but why is it needed? Maybe to shut off water going to an ro /di unit or if the fresh water rez can't be mounted above the control container? Tomatoes, I have no idea why the ebb & flow controller is needed. I'm missing something!
