For strong cookies I boil as low as possible 1lb unsalted butter (get good stuff) with 1 oz of trim for 1-1.5 hours. Make sure there's enough water to not evaporate and burn the butter. Run it through cheese cloth or a strainer and squeeze all the juice out into a pyrex and put it in the fridge for the water and butter to separate. Just cook anything with the budder as you normally would with butter. Enjoy :)

Dont just boil your mixture! First you need to decarboxylize THC-A into active THC by baking your canna on tin foil at 300F for five minutes.

edit:
Also, double boiling your butter/water/canna mixture in sealed mason jars is a good way to ensure that little or no cannabinoid is lost to vaporization during infusion (and also makes straining easier). 20-25 minutes is all the longer you need to double boil your mixture.

I started cooking and baking a long time ago. When I first started I used raw flowers. If your looking for average potency with an extreme 'potty' flavor then use raw product. Although, if you want an edible that is extremely potent, racey, perhaps even anxienty inducing, I would recommend cooking/baking with a procced product. I would take whatever flowers your have and do a very quick ISO wash. Take your ISO Hash and mix it with the EXACT amount of butter the recipe your using calls for. Don't hold out on your starting material, use grade A fruit and this method will leave you incapacitated; no joke, fair warning. I will never cook/bake any other way. I don't want to have to eat a whole pan/ 2-3 cookies to get the most out of my medicine. In my opinion at least in regards to medicine I don't think it's very healthy eating a bunch of cookies all day long to stay medicated. So the least amount of a baked treat that I can eat to do the job is the best way to go. On another note, peanut butter and chocolate together, any tart citrus i.e. lemon rind, orange zest etc.. carry and retain their flavor really well. I personally find most baked/cooked goods too pundgent, I like my cookies to taste like cookies, not road kill. peace.

BTW you only need one stick of butter to make a batch of cookies and there is no set ratio of herb to butter. You could infuse all the herb you have with one stick; it would just be really potent.

I've had friends who've taken one bite of my cookies and wake up high the next day.

+1 when I used to make butter in another dimension far away, I used to use like 6-8 sticks of butter and 4oz of weed, or more, slow cooked in the crockpot on HIGH for a couple hours minimum. I would also use margarine, cooking oil and mixtures of butter/margarine and they were always good.

Id strain thru a cheesecloth into margarine/butter tubs or throw away tupperware and toss into the freezer to solidify...

I have also done the double boiler and direct heating in a single pan...I like the results from the crockpot...

thats how i make my butter...

Budder is a wonderous thing, you may also consider working with a basic oil like canola. In my opinion, its easier to make (much more heat tolerant and you can extract more THC IMO) I love using a crock pot, about a gallon of oil, and as much herb as I can stuff in to it, which is usually about half the capacity of my crock pot... about a QP of quality trim per gallon. I use the crock pot on LOW all day, turn it off and let it sit all night, and repeat one more day. I get really potent oil this way. Although you may get more versatility out of butter vs. oil depending on what you like to make. Cookies are great and tend to mostly call for actual butter (and some recipies do not work if you sub oil for butter) if you have a trader joe's in the area, I highly recommend their bananna bread mix. Extremely simple to use, and it calls for 1/3 C of oil. This is a great dosage per loaf of bread and per individual slice for the potency of oil that I usually end up with. All you do is add an egg, water, and oil, then the mix. Ganja Banana is such a divine combo!

Also, butter has about half the shelf life that the oil does, not that your stick of butter is going to sit around for 6 months, but a giant batch of oil can last a long time. I LOVE coconut, because it can be used as a butter substitute in most cases easier than any other oil, because of its consistency. Once you get your cookies down, try another creation! breads and muffins are great, and I've recently gotten in to some amazing savory dinner recipes!

buy a brownie mix with a strong flavour like choc orange or something, because that butter will most likely taste terrible.

Well I make my cookies a bit different than some of you guys I guess.

I never really believed the baking your herbs to let the decarboxylation thing happen. Unless you are making tinctures or something where otherwise no heat is involved. The boiling and subsequent baking is plenty.

I also disagree that one stick of butter has a nearly infinite potential to effectively dissolve resin. Logic says it wouldn't do 5lbs of high grade per stick of butter so there must be a set ratio somewhere. That would most likely depend on the amount of fats and so forth per tablespoon of medium to determine its maximum saturation rate. While I admit I do not know what that rate is, I've always been told 7grams of premium high grade per stick of butter, or you will risk passing the thc content the butter can absorb and losing some end product. I certainly wouldn't do 2 ounces of high grade per stick of butter.

I make my cookies following what I was told is eds recipe for budder, and my own scooby snack recipe. Here is my recipe for cookies if you are interested OP.

i have made the mistake of making a strong batch of butter.I used 7 oz of sensi star trimmings to 2 lbs of unsalted butter, made a batch of brownies used more butter then the box said too.And holy shit i thought i was done, very anxienty inducing shit i was baked for a whole day couldnt even sleep cause my heart was racing so fast.that was my first and only batch and i have not ate them since the first small brownie i ate that day, i gave the rest away to unsuspecting friends, good times.so stick to the oz per pound and it should be better for you then it was for me.

The OP doesnt have 5 lbs of high grade, he has less than an ounce.

OP said:

I never said he had 5lbs of weed I said that 1 stick of butter can only hold so much. You recommended 1 stick of butter for up to two ounces of herb. That is up to 8 times or at least twice the recommended dosage per stick of butter.

I'm not trying to argue with you I just don't want him to waste his weed.

I don't know how much thc butter can effectively hold, but I doubt its close to two ounces per stick unless it is of very poor quality. In all the books I've read 7g of highgrade per stick or one ounce of "regs" was recommended, and it makes some pretty potent budder in my experience.

If its dirt weed then you are probably right. An ounce and a half to 2 ounces per stick would work.

big thanks for the great info. Ill try it and see how it goes.

So is 1 ounce of HG grounds enough for my 1 batch of cookies?
also I am hoping that they get me superdooper high.

agen thanks for all the info guys.

That will be PLENTY. I usually cook with 1/4 to half that amount.

I have heard you can double the recipe for extremely potent budder, but as I said I don't know what the maximum saturation rate is, and when you risk losing some to not having enough butter.

If your homegrown bud is very good quality I'd use 4 sticks for the ounce. If your bud has a lot of shake, or its just not that resinous I'd only use 2 sticks.

FoCo I may owe you an apology. I was doing more research about decarboxylation and I am not certain yet, but there is a chance the herb being submerged in water is preventing the decarb-ing to take place properly despite it being in the proper temperature range.

I suppose it couldn't hurt to try.
