my plant has been transplanted and started to wilt the other was a little smaler now is way bigger
i dont know what to do any one can help me save my baby?
are these clones? if so, what method of cloning are you doing? I know I have the same issue with my clones comming out of the clone dome, you have to make sure the root structure has reached the equilibrium with with top plant matter. the soil in the top picture looks pretty dry, but she looks like shemight be able to survive it, just give her water, specially right at her base where her roots are, and lots of good thoughts. good luck
i got a 20watt cfl right over the plant about 6in up. and top soil mixed with some potting mix (just a mix up) in a grow cab.
it was in a soft drink bottle but the soil would never dry out so i mixxed some sand in there and put it in a bigger pot. the leave edges are turing crispy i dont know what to do i think this might be over-watering how do i corect that? the soil is dry on the top and realy damp from 20cm down
Tough it out, use plain water (distilled if you're worried about your tap water), don't fertilize. Don't over-water, either--let the soil dry some between waterings and have a small fan blowing within the cab. It'll keep temps down, strengthen the stems, circulate the air and possibly help your soil dry faster. That's in addition to any fan you might be using to expel air.
The soil structure doesn't look very good, I once ruined many plants because I added too much sand into the mix when transplanting, they all withered like that one.
Try to get alittle more light to them if you can. Don't you have an MH? if so then slap the baby on those plants. Other then that maybe overwatering or nute burn. Seedlings don't need any feeding or nutes in the first 2 weeks usually. Some start needing a feeding after a week, but of a light light dose.
Also putting them in the sun from flouros can burn them. Next time start them in smaller pots and move them up to bigger ones. It's easy to overwater plants in bigger pots. Bigger pots don't need watering as much as a smaller so you can get confused on when to water. Grow them for two weeks in small pots or plastic dixie cups for like 2 weeks or so. Transplant into bigger pots for vegging (or depending on how long you veg, it's final pot). It's always good to transplant before flowering too if you can. I've had luck with moving from small pots to 1 gallon pots and flowering them. Smaller plants can be kept in smaller pots. The bigger the plants are the more pot size you need. Don't worry man shit happens to all of us when growing. Indoors is alittle different from outdoors.
Can't wait to see the K2 x Lavs and DH x White Widows in action.
sandman is right, they are over watered due to the big ol pot....cant put the kids in the deep end=), if shes dried up, try a foliar spray, id let her roots recover, but they wont if shes dry, so try spraying her, id lay off the meds to try to save her, shes gentle and hurt... bd
filling that pot during watering, and the fact the root mass isnt large enough yet to use that moisture, left the pot dank, and its probably a good idea to throwlil girl in a dixie cup till shes covered it from an above head view,,,my 2 cents
First thing thanks for all the help as this is the first ever indoor grow.
I understand what your saying about the big pot. still dont want to change her pot for fear off hurting the little roots she's got left.
There is a lot of sand in this mix this time i was trying someting different.
I will transplant them into pure potting mix. and look for a small fan. (For air movement)
I cant get my hands on nutting besides cfl so i got to stick with these. i got them 1inch over the rest of plants. is that too close? i am wondering because the internodes are about a 1/4 in apart is this normal? i think it is too close. what the corect distance to put a cfl from the top of a plant?
Wow alot of info here, but I think several people hit the nail on the head:
1. The soil mix is caky and has chunks - looks like poor quality especially for starting babies with. Good starting soil is visibly a mix of alot of perlite or some other material to give it aeration and drainage. Water needs to easily pour through the soil, not flood the pot, or cake up into chunks like that IMO.
2. The roots probably got damaged - Transplanting is a delicate art. Roots take a while to recover, will not absorb water and nutrients if torn or drowned (caky soil). Since yours is limp either the roots got jacked and it's not transpiring or it is getting frizzle fried fast or both
3. Sunlight will fry the edges of leaves if taken from fluoros directly to full sun.
4. Don't put them in pure potting mix. Buy a bag of perlite and mix it like 60-40 % or research the grow threads here and see what the top growers use, if not you'll get those results over and over...
If she's from seed she should rebound...I see life in her still.
Good post Flamengo and I agree totally.
I try to think of those seedlings as pushing throught the soil to reach the light and the roots pushing through to grow. You don't want them to get stuck and all caked up with mud. Perlite makes the mix easy to move and its light and much more airy.
Also, when you water, maybe try watering a little bit at first, wait about 15 minutes then see how much more you need and add it then. That also helps keep the soil from getting like mud.
