you are a good human to take on trouble for the sake of a dog.

serious rep to ya

dogs are here to teach humans love. they are really good at it. they change our lives in a really good way and then... they leave. we owe them a great deal. funny how a dog makes us more human...

starting the day with a few tears ain't a bad thing. it's what love does to ya...

I believe there is a special place reserved for 'second chance' dogs and their humans.

Everyday he has with you was a bonus, I hope you find some solace in that.

Peace,

Thankyou sooo much for your kind words everyone. I've just got up for work (3:45 am!) and just seeing my boy lying there so peaceful on a duvet makes me want to cry. I've been trying to give him treats but because of the medication he's lost his appetite. His greedy bloody sister is carefully taking them all out from under his nose though!

K was a very special dog and he will always hold a place in my heart. Everyone who was a part of "his world" is distraught. Even my mother in law cried last night when she found out and she's a cat lady through and through. I'll never forget, she came to stay with us while my wife was pregnant and got bored so she decided to bath the dogs. Poor old K grizzled and grumbled and even tried a snarl out for size but Cathy wasnt having it and the poor dog just sat there looking soooo miserable while he was made to smell as flowery as could be! At one stage though the bathroom door opened for some reason and he made a mad dash through the house dribbling buckets worth of water everywhere! We then had to get three of us to drag him back in there. You should of heard the comotion. Theres was snarling and growling. and even just before finally giving up the fight crying and pleading. Poor K smelt like "fruits of the forest" for a weeks after wards. Anyone who knew K knew this was not a good "image" for him and he became particularly nasty when other dogs were around just to "protect his rep!"

He will forever live on in my heart.

Im thinking of taking him to the beach for one last run on Sunday but I'll see how much pain he's in.

Thankyou everyone. Your words mean so much.

Lol. All K's hard work on that ol' stinky persona... shot to hell w/ fruit n flowers.:D

Your MIL sounds like the kind sort. I wonder if she bathes her cats. :chin:

Somebody mentioned seeing K in the afterlife. What a cool vibe.

Feeling for you bro, i had to put down my staffy a few years back on my birthday absolutely killed me, but think of it this way you've gave him a MUCH MUCH better life than what he was used to, he will ALWAY be grateful to you for that, don't ever doubt it.

brother Kronikal be careful if its bone cancer in the leg on letting K run in the sand. the bone becomes so very thin and brittle I'd hate to see him suffer a breakage. the extra effort anyone or any animal has to put into walking/running in sand might be too much. please be cautious is all.......

I'm one of those people whose dog is with him ALL the time, I love him like a son. I totally empathize with you, just thinking of losing my buddy gets me all teary-eyed... Take care man, you and K are in my prayers.

So sorry to hear, same thing with my first Lab, so fast, so sad. Thanks for giving your friend such a nice life. Have a similar rescue dog now. Something in her past makes her so wary of strangers, but after 25 yrs of Labs and Goldens, this neurotic mutt is the most loyal dog we've had, worrys about whole family, comforts when people are down etc. Your dog had a wonderful life because of you, all my condolences to you and your family

Thankyou all for your positive vibes. K's pain ended on monday. He is running free now on a beach somewhere, chasing sticks, and seagulls, and eating steak

I'm so sorry for your loss bro. I don't think he could have had a better life, and now there is no pain. I've lost my pup as well, I know your pain.
