I don't get Americans love affair with guns. I live in the mountains in Australia and we never hear guns around here. Years ago you'd sometimes hear deer shooters out terrorizing the bush, until a young plotter got shot by accident. They dragged him out like a dead deer and dumped outside a hospital where he died. Then a couple of horses got shot. After that , no more hunting. People move here for a tree change, peace and quite and beauty.

that's ok if you don't understand our "love affair" with guns. secret is, we don't love them, we love the freedom they symbolize. "deer shooters" ? i hope you mean "deer hunters". they don't just stand around waiting for you, it takes LOTS of work. can you really terrorize a bush? i know what peace & beauty are, what is a "tree change" and "quite" ?

Guns somehow equate to freedom? Freedom from what? Freedom is an illusion anyway. We play by societies rules from the time we wake to the time we sleep. And if you don't play by the rules and you get caught breaking them bad enough, or often enough, then it's off to jail and a whole other set of rules. The only way to live in a totally free society would be if people were compassionate, empathic, kinda selfless and honest towards each other. We're a ways from that but ya never know.

We used to have a kind of gun culture, nothing like yours, and it took just one massacre, and that was the end of the guns pretty much. Only side effect has been that we don't shot each other as much.

''''''''''''what is a "tree change"'''''''''''

Heard of a sea change? Well it's kinda like that, but with trees.

America is all about violence...its in our blood...I have never terrorized a bush but I have whacked quite a few deer...and just about everything else edible...these days I use bows and arrows/bolts more than guns for hunting...but blasting off a couple hundred rounds at a target is still fun as hell....yeehaw

You make a lot of sense, I have never played by the rules in any way shape or form nor have I been a blatant over the top violent nut by any means... but I believe I am the "compassionate selfless" type and believe there are lots others... a movement or revolution to retake what is right and sane might be brewing and I would like to be a leader or even follower...

I used to hate all guns including hunting after seeing what my nut father did... I mean I hated the pests too and shoot them too but he would litterally freeze us all and not care, my mom did have a point "freeze the baby", my younger brother.

That said, I have come around on hunting... as long as the animal is used for food that is... if it is just a trophy no... and how you can slaughter innocent creatures just for "fun" is beyond me and seems way twisted, but I think some evil people deserve worse. I can respect legitimate target shooting, but shooting that much outside of a gun range is not target shooting but twisted head games or ware games or nuts preparing for a nonsense apocalypse. So you both make sense and so do I, kind of! ;)

that said, all nice and peaceful since that last abbreviated shooting spree, hope they got theirs for terrorizing the neighborhood.
