Though I can't imagine using anything that strong for clones.

Me either though, some here claim to clone in sunlight. I've found a single 23 watt cfl from several feet away is sufficient.

I think on average it's faster. The Reason I don't wnat to clone in Rapid Rooters or Rockwool or soil is because I want to "KNOW" when my clones have rooted. Not wait weeks for them to poke out of some cube.

You don't clone in a 6" cube but in 1" starters. I custom cut 3/4 inch cubes from a larger block (drops price about 90%). At most, this adds a day until you "see" the roots. Added bonus, they're planted and the roots most delicate area is protected.

Your welcome.

If you go back to page 2 on this thread you will see my post where I show what I use for cloning. The cloner is just an inexpensive Daisy aero cloner. About 6o bucks at most hydro stores.
Add the clonex root nutrients at the rate in the instructions on the bottle and I dip mine in clonex gel and let them sit for about 5 minutes before I put them into the cloner. 100% rooting every time!

Yes I know You don't clone in a 6" cube. I'm talking about the smaller 1" rock wool cubes. And yur probably right that it only adds in 1 extra day, but that's "if" they are actually rooted. If you want to see if the clones have rooted in a rock wool clone before they poke out you usually tear the new root tips when you pull the cutting out to check and see if you are doing things right or not.

NEVER open a cube to check the roots. This is the point of a 1" cube. If you don't see roots poking out, the overwhelming probability is there are no roots to see. In the rare occurrence that there are roots in hiding, then they'll show in a matter of hours.

Consider buying a family size bottle of Patience™.

I take a coupe 2-3 more than I need, but double what you need is crazy unless you just have a bad rate of rooting with your setup. And if that is the case you should look into a new setup.
I can't remember the last time I didn't get 100% rooting and only take a couple extra for the sheer fact that some show better growth than others and I can take the best ones and just trash the extra couple.
If you had double what you needed that would be too much of a waste of the mother plant resourses in my opinion.

Well dirt doesn't work because I grow using Deep water culture. If the dirt gets into the water, the pumps and what not clog up. So dirt is somewhat out of the question. I would do Rockwool, but it's so annoying to wait to see the roots.

Use the rockwool dude, better to have to wait to see the roots but see em nontheless than not see em pop out at all i'm thinkin'??? Just a thought....:chin:

Heh like earlier stated, cloning is a bit of voodoo.. :p I wouldn't say anything is 100% foolproof when it comes to indoor agriculture. Plants themselves will either make cloning easier / harder depending on its own set up.
