thank you to those of you who answered; it is just so silly to be making stories up like that. btw, we were specifically speaking about cannabis, not other plants.

sproutco, so you are saying the guy is telling the truth? would you please care to describe the mechanics of how the cluster of calyxes called 'flowers' in the female cannabis plant naturally fall off the plant as whole nugs that are ready to be smoked?
thanks!

sogman, you are a bit confused about brugmansias, these are not the active ingridients in ayahuasca, however, they can be used as additives to certain ayahuasca recipes, ayahuasca has many different recipes depending on who is brewing it and what for. ayahuasca's active main ingridient has been identified as dmt,
while the brugmansias are entheogens on their own right, they are not dmt active, the alkaloids that the plant produces are tropanos (perhaps in english tropanes? sorry for using some terms in spanish but i don't know the english equivalents).
the preparations of tropanos give a much different 'trip' than ayahuasca/yage preparations, the effects on the body can be violent and the 'trip' can lastfor days even...one of my close friends made a tea, infamous local tea called 'te de campanita'. my friend was "hallucinating" very strongly for days, he could eat and stuff, but he was just 'out there', he says he is still not sure if he has came back down after all these years!

peace.

Nice Brugmansia you have here HB !
Borrachero can indeed be a part of Ayahuasca brew, but it is very tricky to use, and very very few curanderos actually use it. Strong, dark power.

shalom mriko, check this brugmansias out in their natural habitat:

when i took the pic the smell was just lovely btw. :joint:

and yes, i would also say be careful using this stuff, avoid it unless you really know what you are doing, don´t take this lightly as many other good persons have said.

peace!

Paz, I recently moved to a tropical climate that experiences mostly 12/12 all year long. 13/11 and 11/13..but generally 12/12. A buddy of mine was saying that he waits for the bud to get dried & ready for picking before he harvests. I tried to explain to him the amber/cloudy thing as well as the flowering time for most indicas/sativas. Didn't want to listen. Either way..I definitely think it's possible, but I'd rather take a 12 week sativa at it's 12 weeks as opposed to 20.

hey ronley, brugmansias can be used without any of those side effects so long as the preparation is done properly. but this is not easy to do because of many factors, mainly, there is no knowledge about it besides the traditional knowledge in the andes and the people who know it won't tell anyone they do not trust, so scientists on the field asking questions are rarely ever given any attention.

gmb, hello man, thank you for answering, waiting for the buds to dry on the plant is a plausible thing to do for some, but that the buds supposedly naturally fall off the plant to the ground when dry and then people pick it up from the floor and roll it and smoke it right away is a bit different, no? cannabis isn't like a tangerine tree or something, when the fruit is ripe it falls down; i think this is a case of excessive romantization of cannabis, besides, you don't want a dried nug of cannabis that is resinous to be hitting the ground and getting dirt all over... the few times i have re-vegetated plants outdoors here, i just don't see that happening either. but i guess you can pick the dried buds from the plant -not the floor- at some point after flowering is finished, but you would have to protect the buds from the rain or mold will attack it, specially in tropical humidity.

one love!

peace.

Has anyone thought that they may have been gathering smoking the spent pollen sacks that fall from males quite readily?

hello Grat3  if that were the case that would really be perhaps even funnier than the thought of biology majors smoking dry fan leaves picked up from the floor :biglaugh: peace!
