I can't grow seedlings

hmm, I would try taking 1/2 of the seedlings out of the pots, peal/crumble off as much medium as you can without hurting the roots (which should be alot, as the roots probly haven't grown much), and put them into smaller pots, and just use a spray bottle to slighly moisten any extra medium you need to make it fit the smaller pots.

This will make them dry out much faster, and get back on track sooner.

Also, if you have a heating pad, you can use it underneath the pots to speed up drying, or place on top of something warm during lights out..

also, angling a slow blowing fan so it blows across the soil will help drying too.

One last thing you can do is raise the overall temps to 80-85..

At this point it's a waiting game, and with that much medium they may die before it dries.

Do a few as I mentioned above, and if the 1st few go well and you feel comfortable do the rest.

I guarantee your roots are tiny, probly using only about 3-4" down, maybe 1-2" wide worth of medium.

Next time you start seeds use 4" squares, or 12-16oz cups.. And for god's sake, let em dry out pretty good before watering..

Use the 'lift pot' method. When the plant/pot feels just slightly heavier than the same container packed with dry medium, water.

good luck

I give them a chance!!!

I give them a chance!!!

Hi, i followed beancounter's advice and tranplanted the seedlings into small plastic cups, after i opened small holes at the bottom for drainage.
I did as little root damage as possible, i think. I saw some roots only at 2-3 of them while i was tranplanting. Only sprayed slightly the new soil i added and i hope soon to be dry enough for their next watering...

Also i turned off my 430W and put them under some fluros sticks(4x 18W),3-5 cm away from their tops. Now i have to wait 2-3 days for their next watering and see what will happen. Hopefully some of them will survive!! Otherwise i will start with new seeds.

Their look is not very good. Most of them have a light green- yellowish color, no signs of burn or crispy tips.
I am trying to find a camera so to post some pics.

Greetings:wave:

This is the money you could be saving if you grow

If the weather isn;t too cold nearby, you should try germinating outside in the sun. You could also sent your plants outside during the day and move them back indoors before night falls. I think it would be good for the plants if you can get them out for a few days before winter....

It's going to be warm here in Chicago, not an INdian Summer yet because we havent had an official frost and I could start a few more seeds, but my room is full of flowering plants and I dont have the space to veg....

Good Luck, sooner or later you'll hit the jackpot!

Got the camera!!!

Got the camera!!!

Hi facelift, here some photos of how the seedlings are 1-2 hours after the tranplant. They are 6-7 days old but the growth stopped at day 3.

I will come to update after their response

I know that right now they don't receive enought light but i think it will be better for them to take a break!!!
Also some strange thing is the seedling at the fourth pic, developing a second stem, a mutant top. At my previous attemp i had the same thing from the same pack of seeds(NL)

hi m8
Nice pics
WEll they look ok(if dont take age into it)*smileS*

I aint so keen on your soil tho*frowns*
I dont know much about soil types/meduims
I would deff suggest adding perlite tho(Good for the roots(not that it is any type of feed))

take a break from light? never use that big of a light on seedlings it will kill them ive done it before. use flours they work the best 24/hrs on for the 1st few weeks. and about them being in to big of a pot is some bullshit i pot my seedling into 3 gallon pots as soon at they have three nodes. thats when they take off more space for roots means bigger better buds. goodluck

good move, what you did will speed up recovery. I would have likely taken a week or 2 for your big pots to dry out if you have cooler temps in your grow. When your seedlings stop growing they also don't take up water, which compounds the overwatering effect, as they don't dry out right away.

420, starting a seedling from seed in a 3 gallon is different than starting one with 3 nodes in the same pot. At 3 nodes they already have a good root system, where as the above plants probly only have little more than a tap root.. Growing in HUGE starting pots can be done, you just have to be extremely careful if you're a newer grower, cause if you have any problems it takes much, much longer to fix and recover..

i'm sure your lil ones will be growing hard in no time.

POOR SEEDLINGS

POOR SEEDLINGS

Finally there gonna die. Not only they didn't grow but the cotylidons have become yellow with some browinish spots. the strange is that there is no droopiness (only at one of those which i think i made root damage).
Yesterday i left the soil really dry, and after some hours i watered them, others with small amounts of water others with more. Today all are the same shit.
Maybe it was too late for them.

I am going to try one more time with the only seeds i have left. With different soils and more attention with the waterings.
If something goes wrong again i will start thinking that there is a curse or something :pointlaug
But not that bad, it was a learning experience and i liked experimenting with the remedies. Not a happy end but there 're going to be a new happy start !!!
Greetings to all

I'd tip on a ph problem here mate.

You have told us that your soil bag stated your soil was at a ph of 6-6.5.

Well first of all that is geranium style soil and not optimum for cannabis in the first place.

Second of all, I would never trust that what it says on my soil bag is actually true. It says on my nutrient bottle to feed 4 times more than i do also but noway would i do that.
So did you even check your soil ph?

Cannabis needs a ph between 6.4 and 6.9

Do you check the water you feed your seedlings?

Will also agree with others who have said you shouldn't be feeding them nutes at this stage yet.

wash all your pots out with a solution of maybe 10mils bleach to 1000mls (1 liter) water, add at least 25% perlite to your medium, and start out in 12-16oz cups, with good sized holes poked in the bottom, or 4" pots. germ like always, it doesn't look like you're having any probs with that. And just water when dry, all at once. it depends on your temps but 1st watering should be like 4-6 days later.

Only start to feed the plants when you seed the small round leaves start to yellow slightly, which can be as early as 5-7 days in nuteless mixes, but can be longer if they're not growing super fast. When you do feed, start out with 1/2 strength. If the lower leaves continue to yellow you can feed at a higher ratio.

good luck on the next batch..
