The Sylvania GroLux that I had for about a week, and tested about a dozen times, worked flawlessly. It turned out that this eBay seller sold me a used bulb, though, so I ended up getting rid of it.

But I have heard of issues on the GroLux on the Lumatek's, just not sure if it's on the blue one. Another thing to note is that the GroLux has been known to *unreliably* fire on the Lumatek's, not not fire at all. So it may have been that the dozen or so times I've tested it, I was lucky... and that some day mid-flower, it could fail on me one time and make hermies. Not a chance I'd like to take, I guess.

Well shit, cheapest 240v 600watt purples are 255 and the blue ones i can get for 165. Ive never used digitals so i just go by what i read here, and i just had a feeling if i got the blues that i would be limited to using hps only, cuz even tho they say that they are hps and mh capable i also read that on top of not firing lux lights very well, that people where also having trouble firing halides with them i think. Will a 240v 600watt lumatek fire a 400watt mh bulb? Sounds like you dont have much troubles with yours, so for a 100 bucks cheaper i think i may be goin blue.

I got two 600w, 6400K MH bulbs from MDHydro for $40 a piece. Actually the second they sent me for free after they barely screwed up one of my orders. They work awesome.

I have two versions... one that looks much like a Hortilux Blue, and one that looks like a typical HPS tube with a pregnant bubble in the center.

Can't find the pictures of the bulbs in my gallery right now (I know it's there for sure), but I'll take some new pics when I get home.

I thought so too, until I saw them listed for sale on MDHydro. Had to get one, and am very happy I did. Here's a pic of them under the MH. No pic of the actual bulb until I get home, though.

Okay I got mine from Oregon Rainforest Company in Portland for 250 about 2 months ago. I don't really care that it runs a more expensive bulb, my 240s work great with the GE lucaloxs and there is a store on ebay that sells those for 45 with free shipping. That means a ballast, cooltube, and bulb were 155,60,and 45=260 + cord=285. Purple ballast, cool breeze reflector, solar max bulb from aforementioned hydro shop were 250,150,100+13 for adaptor "a bghydro exclusive"=513. I mentioned in your other thread that the purple ballast was heavier, bulkier, ran a lot hotter, and that color is really not aesthetically pleasing. Considering all this and almost twice the price for the same setup I would seriously consider running 240.

I thought purples were 120v only. And the blue ones I bought from mdhydro in december are a lot smaller and lighter than the purple one so I assume they are the newest version even though for the price I expected old stock.

i thought it was the other way around, the blue one weighed like 20 pounds and the purple one weighed 8 pounds or somethin?

Sorry Fellas, I forgot that I started this tread. I been doing alot of moving around lately. Anyway, the purple lumatek blew my hortilux bulb after 6 months exactly. I spoke to the guy at lumatek and he told me that its just not a good idea to run hortilux bulbs in a digital ballast period. I'm using the super bulb now.

Neptune - please tell me how in the world you can get your room to 55-60. where are you venting your lights to? i have a 449cfm inline and thats not enough? the suncourts are running in each hut and run into a y connector that has the vortex on the single outlet. I cant understand why the hell i cant get my boxes cooler. Thats why i'm contemplating co2. and how realistic is the gram per watt theory?

Clowntown = the suncourts are used as exactly what they are. booster fans. Oh, i think i should mention that i have two boxes now. the setup is like this.

box 1(400w) - carbon filter, light, suncourt - into y connector in
box 2.
box 2(600w) - carbon filter, suncourt, light - into y connector.

the vortex is connected to the single outlet on the y connector. i hope your getting all this. i'm high as goddamn kite right now.

i have my temps down to 80 with lights on and the house temp at 75.

Johnny Chimpo - i was thinking that also. that might be my only option now. to get a portable and get another y adapter and blow the air through the exhaust holes in the bottom corner of the huts.

Oh and Neptune, what temps do you keep your house at? Anything under around 70 degrees would be cold as hell to me.

Its funny how this thing turned into a lumatek thread. I just wanted to mention that i have not had any problems whatsoever with rf interference.
