HydroHut Original & 600 Watt Purple Lumatek

I have a hydrohut original, a 600 watt purple Lumatek digital ballast, and a 445 cfm vortex fan on an igs 70 fan controller. I also have a cheap suncourt rated at about 280 cfm that i bought from home depot and im using that as a back up for to expell heat from the hydrohut. The suncourt fan is connected to an igs 21 daytime/nightime temp controller. I'm vegging now so i dont have a carbon filter. I will get one in a few weeks though.
Oh and I'm growing dutch passion's feminized blueberry and some durban poison x skunk #1 that i recieved as freebies.
Now, my problem is that I cant get the heat to under 85 degrees with the box closed. The temps in the house are 78 degrees. I have the control on the fan to about 60%. I cant really have it on much higher cause it'll sound like theres a damn tornado in my room. the heat is exhausted out of the window. the hood is a coolbreeze. Someone please help me. If someone else has a hydrohut and a 600 watter, please drop by and share how you keep your temps under control. Im gonna get some co2 in a little bit. that seems to be my only option.

too much shit in a small hut.

tone it down. you don't need or want co2 in a hut -- forget about it.
if your house is 78, it's too damn hot already... adding a 600w to that and I bet you are mid 80s... too hot! you want 75-78 with lights on. If you can't keep temps down, you may need to go with a 400w.

after reading more closely, i see you are trying to rectify your high temps by adding co2.... this is a hairy solution, but could work. Let me just say that I run a hydrohut at the foot of my bed with zero fans, and a 400w lumatek with zero noise. It grows great plants. 600w may be too much for yur already hot room... my room is about 55-60F at night, and totally zipped up hut maxes at 82F on a warm night. No fans, just passive intakes and vents.

I take it an air conditioner is out of the question currently? If it is I would agree with Neptune  I have a Homebox XL and use a portable AC currently and have some 4" dryer hose connected to it and placed in the front opening of the Homebox.

You need better ventilation. It sounds like you're saying that the 'hut is hotter than your room. I've used those SunCourt fans before... they're cheap, but they're loud and don't move anywhere near their CFM rating compared to an inline centrifugal. So far you've spent a few Benjamins on all that nice equipment... why not spend another couple and get some good ventilation equipment that'll also allow you to run a carbon scrubber?

i believe the new one are purple...

if you go to bghydro they specificly state that they will only sell you the new ones... which will more than likely be the purple.... man do they look sweet

Wonder if the purple weed hype played any role in the latest Lumatek's being purple... :biglaugh: (j/k)

talking seriously now as i have made a mistake ... just seen the purple on lol .... (not out yet in the uk) ... and i saw 2 different colours (both blue) thought the designer was colour blind lmao... :rasta:

so when do you think they will be available in the UK? (purple ones that is)...
as all the blue ones are on offer ... they must be awaiting?

Ok, now i guess its ok to say that theres just not very much info out there on the purple lumateks. So... I think i might start a thread on these new purple lumateks instead of jumpin around with you guys. I think its a good idea to put as much info out there on them as we can, because almost nobody knows about em and nobody knows where you can get em the cheapest, and after all these are the newest top brand digital ballasts on the market and we gotta get to know em sometime so why not now! Come on over!!! ill call it PURPLE LUMATEK DIGITAL BALLASTS

What information do you need to know about it?

What other information are you hoping to gain by jumping around on your own thread?

I think everyone, or most people who are aware of the purple versions anyways, know where to get them. There are already quite a few threads on this topic which cover quite a bit of detail, including:

So far I haven't gotten any satisfactory answers / reasons from BGHydro or Lumatek on why the purple is so much better than the blue. I don't see what the big deal is on having the purple, besides obviously the new 1000w version.

The cheapest place to buy the blue ones are MDHydro, and I think that's pretty well established around these parts. And I think most people know that BGHydro and HID Hut sells the purple ones, along with (I'm sure) some others. Not to mention direct from Lumatek.

Heres why they are better than the blue...this is what the big deal is

LUMATEK PURPLE DIGI BALLASTS
Now works with all lamps
Improved RF shielding
All ballasts now ship with an adapter that enables them to work with both Sun System and Hydrofarm lamp cords; no more need to rewire the socket assembly - a BGH exclusive!
Improved customer service and support from Lumatek™

Lumatek™ Features:
More lumens - up to a 20% increase
Dedicated Voltage - dual voltage ballasts sacrifice performance
Silent - the days of humming and buzzing are long gone
Internal RF Shielding - best on the market
Ultra Light Weight - only 8 pounds
Soft Start - increases lamp life and lumen depreciation
External Fuse System - protects against power surges

Im a top of the line guy and this version is obviously more updated than the blue.

Yes, I've seen the ad for purple Lumateks and am aware of the "new features" that they're trying say you need.

Most of those features are present in the blue version; from what I've gathered so far, the purple version does not add any "real" new features.

Neither Lumatek or BGHydro was able to confirm that there were any changes at all in the RF/EMI issues between the blue and purple ones. The only thing they generalize between the two versions combined is "Improved RF shielding", which leads to me believe that there wasn't a single change in this area.

Of course the included adapter is nice; and I think my blue one is about 20 pounds or so... definitely not 8 lbs. Most other digital ballasts (the no-names) that I've seen in person were about that 8 lb weight, though. I've looked and looked and looked for a reason to upgrade my blue one to a purple one, but I haven't seen anything close to resembling a good reason . . . yet.

My blue one fires a Hortilux bulb no problem.

I vegged and flowered my last grow with it, and it's still working now. They say there's better bulb compatibility, which is actually one real feature worth mentioning, but the Hortilux HPS has never been a problem on the blue Lumatek's to my knowledge.

well thats good to know, being that i have heard numerous complaints about the blue ones having trouble with hortilux and all lux bulbs. You must be lucky what wattage and voltage is yours?

I've never heard of anyone having trouble with Hortilux HPS bulbs on the Lumatek blue ballast. What are lux bulbs?

600w/120v

By the way... I absolutely mean no disrespect. I have a tendency to just talk all business and just hammer out data sometimes.
