Just lookin for a little input on which light is a better buy. It seems to me i see more Sunlight Supply lights around than Hydrofarm. Are they better lights? Do they last longer? Better customer service? Are they more grower friendly? :canabis: My local store sells Hydrofarm but i could drive 15 miles and get a Sunlite Supply. Any suggestions. This is for a 1k hps.

Not much difference in price, about 375.00 w/glass & flanges ( yes their air-cooled ) What drew me to the sun system was the super sun has side mounted flanges as opposed to front to back, but i just saw a hydrofarm with the side mounts. i think its new. I think im gonna go with the Hydro Farm at my local shop; anything goes wrong i can take it back to them. They would probably hook me up with a loaner too :biglaugh: Thanks for the input guys! Peace and love, Bonzo :D

Hydrofarm has the best product. Their reflectors use a patented double walled design. This means the reflective metal doesn't sit right against the outside of the reflector. On Hydrofarms there is a gap between the reflective metal and the exterior of the reflector. This provides better cooling, the exterior of the reflector(sides, top), which is in your growroom, will stay cooler.

Sunlight supply has an air cooled hood thats sweet , 6" exhaust ducts on both sides fer a straight line cooling effect , right across the bulb. Sunlight has better ballasts too

I'd have to argue there steel. Hydrofarm's similar 6" flanged reflector would be better IMO. Again the double wall design. It does make a difference. And I'd go with Sunleaves ballasts, as they run cooler, can be vented themselves, and will work with Hydrofarm lighting systems. A cooler ballast = a longer lasting one.

:D Well here is what i decided on, Hydrofarm Daystar AC 1k hps w/6' biult in front to back flanges. I first got the same hood with 4' side to side vents but after some thought and actually looking at it in my space i decided not only would the front to back be easier to set up but obviously it would stay way cooler. I like the compact size of them too. Well see pretty soon here how they work. :D

peace, Bonzo :friends:

Nice Bonzo... I looked at those hoods real good before I bought my PLs. Great choice... I would have probably got the same light setup if it were available from my hydro store.

Is that an Eye Hortilux bulb?

Howdy Maistre, no thats a standard Sylvania Lumalux, im gonna go with these till i need to change em' and then i might try the EYE. Ya know this may have nothing to do with how they work but the powder coating on these things is beautiful, there very well put together units. If these work as good as they look, they should kick ass!!! :D

That's the one bonzo. Nice reflector. I'm gonna upgrade from the Radiant reflector to the Daystars soon. You'll be very happy with that reflector.

Thanks King, the only thing i see that could be made a little better is the bracket that the socket assembly attatches to. Its made out of thin gauge metal and with a 1k bulb it tends to flex a bit. Its very little but i think it could be a little heavier duty. Other than that these are beatiful hoods, they should stay pretty cool. :friends:
