Yea it works because of the Venturi effect. They are by no means water efficient but if your water is cheap go for it. It was discovered back in late 1700's.:)

i always used the pump in the res to drain it . so it uses water to move water. water aint cheap where i am at.

That's kinda funny. Looks exactly like a water bed drain and fill kit. They work fine, justy use a lot of wasted water to do it.

Thanks, I figured there was always a pressure hose or outlet that was needed to work and no free lunch. A lot cheaper to run an electric pump for a few cents than waste gallons. Unless your're in a bind. I can see watering your outside garden like in the video above.

I like to use my RO waste water to water other plants outside. Just need a 1/4" hole in outside wall to some 55 gallon rain barrels. Or just have it go down grey water drain. Keeps the water bill down.

i totally forgot if you want to get a little bit of a work out you can buy a manual bilge pump or a regular pond water pump..

Ahhh, + rep Loids and OldSSSCGuy. Found this that don't require a workout: Attwood Tsunami Manual Bilge Pump - 500, 800 and 1,200 gph. Uses electric motor. Nice to have some redundancy, I want to use it for connected 55 gallon rain barrels that are topped off by a float valve from my SpectraPure RO 150 gpd system (which really rocks).

I'd use a float on my res to keep topped off but like to add nutes manually because if pH goes down they likely could use more nutes instead of RO water. If pH goes up I back off on nutes a bit. So I read pH and top off daily, res change 1x/week is optimum for me (don't want to push it).

PS - whoops, those Attwoods are 12 volt bilge pumps for boats, and 120v ac to 12v dc transformers aren't cheap!

BOOM! This will empty the res in no time (+ good reviews): Wel-Bilt Submersible Pump - 21.13 GPM, 1/8 HP 110 volt. I like to use an aquarium external or in-line pump for my rdwc (many from Marine Depot to choose from @ a great price) and guess a good sub pump would fit the bill for emptying. The in-line pumps don't heat the res nearly as much as a sub pump.

An hand crank gas/desiel pump works well and you get a little exersize to boot.....usually have to burn coal/natural gas/sometimes just wind to produce electricty.....

Be bright today, but try not to burn out.....
