Hybrids from Hell "Monk" northern outdoors.

Hi guys.

when i got the Monk seeds from Nordic Genetics i was very curious, of they would be as early
as said in the description. This pheno is - the other plant is a month later.
So far no mould and i guess 1st week of Sept will be harvesttime for the tops at least.

Coming along nicely. Hopefully the buds will be tasty and mild with a good dose of CBD to them.
In front of the monk is a green poison cut. The seeds are describes as "ready early to mid September".

That was a blatant lie, obviously. No signs of flowering as september approaches.
Very disappointing as there are big versions of that one in another garden: Green Poison

I plan to cross the Monk with Strawberry Gold - to basically have all the early flowering strains
from cannabis history in one genepool - and then stabilize and use for hybridizing
with modern ultra-Strains, to make them suitable for northern outdoors.

If u need super fast flowering "Speedy Chile" ...late but fast AF in Oct.
If i wanted fast and this late - i might have gotten the Sensiseeds EarlySkunk,
that i have had 30yrs ago.

Yes, i believe they will bloom. But they are in a spot where Oct. means LOTS of shitweather.
That wasnt the plan.

That seedbank is dead for me, forever. Sad.

So this absolutely stunning plant came down on the 31st of August.
The looks seem right, resin is there and the risk of widespread rot is rising.

After reading through exaggerated descriptions of outdoor strains for 30+ years,
i finally met a strain that DOES finish before September. And look at the results.
This is northern europe. 50meters from the baltic sea.
I have never ever seen anything like this performance in 3+ decades.

Lets see how it tastes and buzzes. Smell is good.

"These" are one female "monk". Planted 3 in early April, one went male,
so the assumption was, the other 2 are female.

Stagnated a while in May, then startet growing in it's 200liter barrel full of rot, Allmix and
a lot of organic ferts. Topped her 4-5 times to keep height down. Got it perfect obviously.

This is to my knowledge the earliest photoperiodic strain on this planet.
I stand amazed so far. Havent smoked it yet.

So you mean you can keep cuts of this particular strain? What latitude are you at?
So far no cuts, as this one is dead now.

But i have like 3 dozen original seeds on the way.
Next spring a clone of this one, or of crosses would be the perfect way to go.

54.3° north.

Nice one 😍 looking foreward to a smoke Report, when the cure is finished.
I completly understand that you harvested early, as the Summer was realy shitty with a Lot of mold..
But to be honest, that plant Looks Like it could have Home for 2-3 weeks more..
its Not realy „ready“ at end August/ beginning Sept. 🤗 but super fast anyway..
could it be a „Fast“ Version/ semi Auto ?

Have a Nice Weekend 🪬

For being from 80s material - bred in Denmark, i consider the resin level as okay. Maybe the photo doesnt really show it.

From my 30+ yrs of outdoor grow xp - if i had been there (a friend cut it and hung it up)
i would have taken like 50% of the plants, the tops and let everything else continue.

It all always depends on time and situation.
For me the most important thing, is the earlyness as a genetic trait.
I plan to add the fastest critical available. To add the modern production touch.
If the result is a "plant and forget" outdoor strain - i am, where i want to be.
Once this is a proven theory - i can easily hybridize with all the modern
strains available - to make the outdoor-worthy, for normal people.
In the genes of the monk there is an auto hybrid afaik, but it is recessive.

wether it is "ready" will depend on the smoke report. I do like plants early harvested for the buzz
to be on the high side - expecially as the monk is supposed to have a CBD touch to it.
Genes are very oldschool obviously.
