Okay, new grow.

Started 12 regular seeds, purchased directly from Ace. 11 popped. They are currently in a 2' x 2' tent, on a flood and drain table, under LEDs. In a few weeks they will be put under a 400w HPS. For now, they are being fed straight water but I will start feeding them on a light dose of Maxibloom soon. This is a pheno-finding mission, to obtain a mother plant, but there will be some pollen chucking going on too.

Stay tuned.

Alright, just a quick update. Nothing really to report, except that I still haven't fed them yet. I guess there are more nitrates in my tap water than I knew. I need to test the EC someday. Anyway, they're growing and doing fine. I'm still waiting for the bigger tent to finish up the Orient express so I can put these under the HPS. When that happens, I'll try to reveg a few of the OEs in here. I wasn't expecting to want to keep any the OEs but they're so productive that I would be dumb not to. HUGE buds with that strain.

Hi hush,

Thanks for sharing your new grow diary with us :)
Hope you find interesting phenos. Best wishes!

PD: I'm glad to hear the Orient Express are doing fine in flowering ;)

Thank you dubi. I am very excited to finally work with Ace genetics after all these years of keeping my eye on you guys. :) It's been so long since I've grown any fresh strains with hybrid vigor like the Orient express has shown. I had forgotten what vigorous plants should look like! So I'm thrilled to be growing your stuff out finally.

My plan has been to start with PCK to get a good, calm, relaxing indica into my selection. After that I'm going to find some sativas to keep around, because we found out those work better for my wife's menstrual cramps. So I have Bangi haze, Panama, and Golden tiger to sift through. I'm super excited.

The Orient express feminized seeds were freebies, so those were the first ones I planted after moving into my new house. I just wanted to hurry up and get more medicine without having to do all the pheno selecting, and those were feminized so I just planted those first, not expecting to keep any of them... But now that I'm seeing the plants it just blows me away! I'm going to harvest a few of them next weekend so I'll try to take pictures and show you. I have this one pheno that appears to be the frostiest, isn't as short as the fast-growing Yunnan leaning pheno, but isn't as tall as the Vietnamese leaning ones either. Has a long, solid, spear-shaped central cola with sativa-looking flowers, but very short internodes, and the side branches from that one are bigger than some of the main tops of all the strains I've grown in recent memory. I'm absolutely floored by this pheno.

And the tall Vietnamese ones are really beautiful, too! They aren't only tall, but they have very large clusters of flowers, with large calyxes, and even large pistils! It just seems like a cannabis plant on steroids or something. And the buds are very thick, like hybrid style, and not wispy sativa buds. I'm going to let those mature an extra week or so. I'll probably end up trying to revegetate one of these phenos as well.

There will, of course, be separate journals for each of those previously mentioned strains. This one will focus on just the PCK for now. :D

Glad to see an excellent grower as yourself trying out some great strains from ACE. I'm excited as well to see the awesomeness that will be posted in the next few months!
Let us know when you get those Orient Express pictures! :)

Aw thank you my friend. Yeah, as a spectator, looking on at basically all the common breeders there have been over the last decade, Ace stands out. So it's time to focus on their (and CBG's) strains for a while.

I've got another week to go before I harvest the OE that I've had my eyes on, and probably 2 weeks to go until the tall VB phenos are worth harvesting, so I decided today to adjust the timer to 11/13. I probably should have done that sooner, but I didn't think about it. Oh well.

Anyway, as soon as all of the OEs are harvested, the PCKs will go under the HPS. I've also just started feeding the PCK today. So they ought to take off here shortly. Then, once this small tent is empty again, I'll be starting a new strain up. Not sure which, yet: either Panama, Golden Tiger, Peyote Purple, or Bangi Haze. Probably the Panama, though.

The plan is to go through all of these seed packs as soon as possible, make mother selections while also pollinating various branches with various pollen (gotta keep my seed supply in stock), and then revert this small tent back into a mother garden again. I plan on having mostly (if not all) Ace and CBG strains. After decades of smoking all the common strains in circulation, I'm just putting my foot down on washed-out, diluted Dutch genetics. And since I'm an indoor grower with no real chance of starting my own breeding program from landrace seeds, Ace and CBG are the way to go. They've already done the important work of refreshing the cannabis gene pool, so why reinvent the wheel, right?

I kind of look forward to being able to respond to the question of "what do you want to smoke?" with the names of geographic regions, instead of Girl Scout cookie names that all apply to strains that are carbon copies of each other.

Yes, to say "Let's smoke some Panama, or let's break out the Congolese," would be quite a welcome change of pace.

I just don't really know if people truly understand what Ace and CBG have done for the cannabis community. I look around and I see that many people do... But the overwhelming majority don't seem to understand the degree of catalyst that these genetics are for the cannabis gene pool. I was one of these people, for a long time.

But it's time we all say goodbye to these Northern Lights and Super Skunk derivatives, in my opinion. That eliminates probably 90% of all strains. And that's where Ace and CBG have come to the rescue.

Alright, I'm back with an update. I just moved the 9 best plants to the HPS flowering tent. They are officially in flowering now.

You won't be disappointed by the OE. Very good high, great taste, smell. Would love to try the Vietnamese phenos.

Yeah I have been enjoying the shit out of the 50/50 pheno. The Vietnamese phenos aren't done drying yet so I haven't sampled those yet. Can't wait!

Should be a great show. looking very healthy.
Best of luck and may all your buds be Huge.

Cheers GG

Thanks, friend. If the rest of these Ace genetics are as good as the OE, I'm in for a treat.

I've been going through what's left of my pollen stash, and I could knock up some of these PCK with Northern Skunk, Blueberry, or NLxKush. Maybe a little of each. I don't know yet.

Of the 9 plants in this tent, some will presumably be males. I'll be removing those from the garden as they show, and saving the best one(s) for pollen collection. This should free up some room in here for the maturing females. I'm curious what phenos I'm gonna find in here. It's nice to be starting over again.

Damn that Orient Express I've been smoking is the perfect high for me, for nighttime. Dubi kicked Chuck Norris's ass with this strain. I can't stop talking about it. I feel so relaxed and heavy right now, and the mental effects go into the philosophical and contemplative realm for me. Sooooo nice...

I can't wait until you grow out that Golden Tiger or even the Panama. I hear the these two can be really potent.
It would be interesting to get your take on these two strains.
Peace!

I can't wait to grow those out either! :D Chances are I'll be growing the Panama before I get to the GT, because I've really been wanting to grow out the Panama for a long time. In fact, that's the strain that brought Ace to my attention all those years ago. It's one that I romanticize about. But all of them will be grown in due time, and I hope to find a keeper mother plant for all of them.

But the truth is, in terms of practical needs, I have to get my indica stash back where it needs to be since that's what I use medicinally. Sativas are just for having a great fucking time, lol.

Next I think I'll be growing out the Peyote Purples.

Panama will be my next Ace strain as well. There are some spectacular Panama grow diaries on here and nobody seems to be disappointed.
Thai pheno Golden Tigers grow like branching bushes and wanted to see how you deal with all that fun!
Peace
